Think he only needs 15 more goals to be the club's leading all time goalscorer.

Two astonishing stats on Hazard...

Not denying that Lampard has been culpable at times but really, people seem to be blowing things out of proportion by suggesting that he is the main reason for our defensive and passing problems. Torres has misplaced countless of passes upfront and how come I don't see people criticizing him as much as they do now with Lampard? Heck, even Mata has made some poor passes in midfield lately that put us unnecessary pressure and how come I don't see people getting on his back?! While Lampard may not be the greatest of passers, he's still good at it but people seem to be making it out worse than it is. Furthermore, he is only one in the team right now who is capable of playing in the double pivot role right now. The fact is, until we find ourselves a player who is suitable to be playing there, we can't just toss Lampard out of the starting XI. He will still play an important role for us this season.

Mentioned this in the Reading match thread. His defending lately has been very very poor. Getting skinned way too often and easily by the wide players. He really need to wise up ASAP. Otherwise, I can see Azpilicueta easily taking his spot if he comes in and performs well.

Is it just me or Lampard has become a scapegoat here after the departure of Bosingwa and Kalou?
-
Think 1-2 did raise their hands but yeah, there wasn't much protests. They all were probably watching the ball and didn't know where Torres was exactly.
-
At least Mata this season won't have to carry all the creative burden by himself with Hazard, Oscar and even Marin being around. Those players will also offer plenty of movement and create spaces for Mata to work with too and likewise too.

La Provence still sticking to their original story and said the deal is done! http://www.laprovence.com/article/om-a-la-une/mercato-azpi-signera-aujourdhui-ou-demain-a-chelsea This is a Google translated article by the way.

Funny how this fixture comes so fast after what happened last season... It's gonna be a tough game this as we have won only 1 of our last 4 PL encounters against Newcastle and they are unbeaten in their last 3 visits to the Bridge(4 in all competitions).
-
Reading the match reports and post-match thoughts articles on this game, it's so obvious that the media have an agenda against us. City came from behind to beat Southampton 3-2 at the weekend and they said 'City showed character', 'City showed why they are the PL Champions' etc despite not being at their best. We came from behind to beat Reading and they said 'Chelsea were lucky', 'Chelsea struggled' despite also not being at our best.

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/4500508/David-Luiz-transfer-Chelsea-reject-Manchester-City-bid.html Apparently, we rejected a 30m bid from City for Luiz. Probably a BS story made up because he missed tonight's game with a knee injury.

Have been reading way too many similar news on Azpilicueta in the last 48 hours or so. Getting pissed! Just want to hear the official announcement from the club!

Gotta love reading this. http://www.redcafe.net/f7/eden-hazard-signs-chelsea-354410/index18.html

Forgot to mention this but credit to RDM for his substitutions. Made the right ones at the right time. Was risky but one that needed to be taken and each of the subs played their part in the turnaround.

Not the best of performance but think we just about deserved the win given that we had better of the attacks and chances throughout the game. Though still need improvement, the injection of pace and increase of tempo with Hazard, Mata, Oscar and even Sturridge to attack is what we have been crying out for! That helped to accelerate attacks much quicker compared than the snail pace we played at in last 2-3 years. However, I'm majorly concerned over the fact that we seem to struggle more often than not everytime we scored first in the game. It just look like we take the foot off the pedal and allowed the opposition to come at us so easily. Also, hope people aren't clouded by the fact that Ivanovic's defending has been poor despite the 2 goals. Getting skinned way too often. Ivanovic's place will be seriously under threat IF we secure the signing of Azpilicueta and him performing well when given the chance.
-
Credit to him today. Certainly made an impact on the RW after the ineffectiveness of Ramires there.
-
Just can't help but to really adore him. Tougher tests will come but he has passed it with flying colors so far. Absolutely brilliant and is the type of player we have been crying out for. Injects pace and tempo to the attacks and certainly one who is not afraid to run at defenders with the ball.
-
Thought he did alright. The combination of him with Hazard and Oscar was good to watch. Can only improve with time. However, thanks to our self implosion in that first half, we had to play him far longer than perhaps originally planned!
-
He looked nervy when he came on, misplaced a couple of passes. Was probably nervous since we were under pressure to chase the game when he came on. Otherwise, though he did alright. Helped to inject pace and tempo to the attacks.
-
What choice do we have?! Teams press our CBs now at goal kicks and force Cech to go long with it because they know we no longer have Drogba or anything physical presence upfront.
-
Started well for 20-25 minutes. Took the lead. And we then just capitulated after that. Cannot understand why we always seem to struggle in games once we have scored first in games!
