Buying a potential with a resale value is better than getting a 31 y/o who is going downhill and basically has no resale value. We are not an old folks home FFS!!
Don't see what is the problem with getting Azpilicueta in. Ivanovic is already 28 and in about 2 years time, he will probably be moved to CB with Terry getting older and then Azpilicueta and Kane can both challenge for that RB spot.
Get your point there but hey, at least we took the chances that came and won. We have had more possession and chances in previous games but still fail to win last season. And United went to the Etihad last season and only had 5 shots with none of them on target. Definitely need to improve but don't see why we should get panic in any way just yet.
Well, he will definitely get more chance to play at Middlesbrough and if he can perform well for them, then I don't see why McEachran can't be a permanent starter at Boro. It's really down to him to prove his worth and stake his claim in Tony Mowbray's team.
Not the best of performance with keeping the ball properly still a massive issue! However, we won, kept a clean sheet and got that 3 points to halt the recent run of poor results. Really need to build on it in the next 2 games before facing Atletico Madrid. And here's the MOTD highlights of the game. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xsxh4g_wigan-athletic-v-chelsea_sport
Torres is just a frustrating player to watch right now. One week, he looks interested, chasing down balls, running around, working hard and offering movements upfront. The next, he looks totally disinterested. His body language is all wrong and then becomes all too static upfront without offering any real option of passing in the attacking third. One thing that terribly annoys me right now about him is whenever he is with the ball and there are 3-4 players surrounding him, he tries to do it all on his own by taking all of them at once thinking like he's Messi or something when there are options to pass to. More often than not, he ends up losing the ball and we find ourselves under pressure because someone can't keep it simple with the ball!
Yes but like it or not, in that double pivot he's playing, Lampard needs to be more discipline and curb his attacking instincts. He showed it last season and why can't he continue it? And it's not like we have to chase the game and push more men forward either. He can't always go wandering further forward and leave the team exposed especially when we can't even keep the ball properly!
A very average performance all around once again. Can't keep the ball. Can't cross the ball. Pathetic. On the bright side, we won, kept a clean sheet and got that 3 points to stop the recent run of poor results. Really need to build on this against Reading and Newcastle. Good debut by Hazard too. Named the 'Man of the Match'.
Either that or 'Terry-Cahill' at CB. The defence have always looked solid when those two partnered each other. We and England have yet to lose when those two play at CB.
Wigan XI v Chelsea: Al-Habsi, Caldwell, Alcaraz, Ramis, Boyce, Figueroa, McArthur, McCartney, Moses, Maloney, Di Santo. Moses starts. Just watch him score against us...
Last season, Bolton thumped QPR 4-0 at Loftus Road and Swansea lost 4-0 to City at the Etihad and we all know what happened in the end. However, the current QPR side is better than last season's...
Walcott may have the pace but he is only useful when teams give him plenty of space to run into and operate. If teams sit deep and don't allow him that space, he is literally useless on the pitch. All he has is pace. He doesn't have the trickery and skills to beat defenders and create openings for himself.
Don't understand why we are not going for Cabaye when we desperately a deep lying playmaker in that double pivot role. Quality player and one that won't cost a lot. Instead, we want to waste time by seemingly going for Modric again.
IF what was reported there is true, then the board seem much more concerned with the finance than the current state of the squad. This Azpilicueta doesn't even involve a huge transfer fee, so why can't they just get it done ASAP considering that we desperately need a RB now?! If this drags on, we'll only gonna leave ourselves in a sticky situation with only 12 days of the transfer window left to go. Either we'll agree for the price that Marseille wants at the end of the day OR we'll become panic and pay over the odds for another RB!
