The point is that he won't get sacked for dropping players. I can't imagine van der Vaart, Bale, Modric doing much else than requesting a transfer if they're consistently benched.
-
Man Management won't matter much because he doesn't have wankers like Lampard and Cole and Essien and Malouda now in his team. There's no chance of Spurs players engineering the sack for him, they don't know how to. Our lot have had years of experience at doing just that, from Mourinho to Scolari to Villas-Boas.
-
It'll be easier to get over him if we get Sigurdsson soon or N'Doye now.
-
They're not going to be crippled. People were saying the same when Ronaldo left United. Wenger is a survivor, he's consistently lost his best players for the last few years and Arsenal have still held their own.

I'll not have any Kalou statistic bashing here. 60 goals, 40 assists, that's what we call stat-is-tics. Fuck off Jarvis you have no statistics YNWA Justice for the 60 goals.

Maybe we should have a cross-forum league

Top signing.

I'm torn between my like for Villas-Boas and hatred for Spurs.

Excellent post. Let's not forget when asked about why he liked Roberto Di Matteo's tenure, Frank Lampard replied with: "He plays me, which the other guy didn't. *chuckle*". Best of luck to Luís André de Pina Cabral e Villas-Boas in restoring his reputation. Couple of fourth place finishes and perhaps a trophy thrown in and suddenly he's the new hot manager on the block.

The scenes if we sign him
-
Foreigner's spot didn't matter until 2010/11 and by then he could have opted for English citizenship if the club really wanted to bring in another non-EU player.

Sick I've got a fever and it'll keep me in bed for another 3 or 4 days

Please, proceed to tell me how Kalou is the worst player of the lot. I'm sure I'll be very interested to listen to your 'rationale', which will probably be the party favourite, "He's just plain shit.", which is followed up 30 seconds later with a "FERNANDO I LOVE YOU YOU'LL SCORE 90 GOALS THIS SEASON LETS BUILD A TEAM AROUND HIM". 'No-goal' Pizarro was a much better signing, right lads? So was 'Crackhead' Mutu! And so was 'I play 20 games and then bugger off to Italy' Crespo. Of course, we can't leave out 'Permanently crocked' Zhirkov; or "3 games a season" Lukaku; or '6 million pounds per goal' Torres. You heard it here first
-
Moot point, anyway. Kalou will always be the better transfer than Torres pound for pound, which is the only standard, measurable factor. 60 goals and 40 assists for 9 million; Torres will need to get 300 goals and 200 assists and even then he'll be 5 million pounds short.

3 goals, not one of them having any impact on any results. 2 of them against Ire-lol. One after being 2-0 up in the 84th minute. It's like getting excited over a hat trick in a 7-0 win against some League One team. Also about 6 other players had the same amount of goals as him. He just won it because Del Bosque hates playing with strikers.

A 28 year old finding the pace he lost at 25? What next? A Balon D'or for Hilario?
-
To further that point that he is one of our better signings in the last 6 years: Look at that 'significantly better than' list. So many players our fans have fallen head over heels with. He's been our equal 10th best signing out of 28. Taking it even further: It only looks better for "Conman Kalou, who conned our club so many times, no one else has ever conned us to that extent". There will come a time when people will come to regret this decision. Perhaps when he knocks us out of a tournament. Or when we need to defend like mad/are facing the best attacking fullback in the world and have no one there to do the job. Or when we need someone to come off the bench and grab a crucial goal. Perhaps a penalty shoot out. Edit: I forgot to put Alex in, he was signed in 2004. Because he had work permit problems for 3 seasons and disappeared off the face off the planet for a few months every season he falls in the "Slightly better than" category..

So Term, Torres, Bogarde, Shevchenko, Kezman, Veron, Wright-Phillips etc. can earn millions, regress as footballers and still be held in higher regard than someone who some believe hasn't improved, at the worst? He earned a fraction of what the flops earnt and has outstripped them all comfortably. He's been among our best signings spanning 2006 and 2010. Its not his fault that he only has competition for that title from Ballack, Malouda and Anelka, the fact remains that he has been infinitely better than most of the wank we have signed since summer 2006.

I would keep Meireles.

http://www.telegraph...as-a-farce.html They're mad. I learned something new about German today, Schiessen means shootout and shitting I always thought it would have been "Elfmetergeschossen", since a shot is "Geschosse" -
Done with Salomon Kalou and Ryan Bertrand on the flanks, and Jose Bosingwa at right back. Done with Fernando Torres and Florent Malouda coming on as impact substitutes. No one will surpass that.
