  1. Thierry Henry at his peak, for example. Any number of big West African strikers/midfielders. Essien during his best days wasn't that much slower than Ronaldo, significantly stronger and possessed far better stamina as well.
  2. It was a manic decision to strip him of the captaincy when it was clear after the first time he was stripped that Terry is by far the best leader in England. Gerrard and Ferdinand were pretty shit as captains. Their personal form suffered, as well.
  3. What are you talking about? There are many players faster, stronger, harder working, better aerially (all in one package, as well) players than Ronaldo.
  4. Just ban him or let him go already. Why waste time?
  5. All of our pre-game chat in the media was emphasising that Jordan were vastly different to other West Asian teams and that was what made them such a threat. We can't deal with long balls in the heat when we've spent all our time in Asia chasing after mini-Spain's.
  6. Lol you can say what you like it doesn't change the fact that today's elite professionals are all physique and no technique. Just look at what the Jabulani did to them. Do you have the mental capacity to recognise that its far easier to win a European title than a World Cup? I doubt it.
  7. As far as skill goes, Diego Maradona is the most talented player of all time and the likes of Messi and Ronaldo have half the brilliance of Maradona with the ball at their feet.
  8. Jordan are a quality team, actually. I'd rate them the 5th or 6th best team in the AFC, and playing away in the Middle East in summer is a bitch. We still should have gotten a point, considering we're the third best team in Asia. Mind, the Socceroo's are piss and wind these days. The golden generation is over and we're going to plunge back into a decade of mediocrity wishing we could play American Samoa every week.
  9. Its even worse when you consider that all but 2 Spanish clubs earn a pittance compared to even relegation battlers in other leagues like the Bundesliga or the Premier League. They have literally no chance of ever 'moving progressively' with their debt. If they do that then they will be spending so little on their players, they'll be packed full of random journeymen, youth and other shit players. They'll be awful in Europe, the whipping boys in every group stage of the CL they qualify for.
  10. We won the Champions League. As things stand, both Spurs and Inter are in the same tournament, with Spurs still looking the better side.
  11. They don't 'have' to sell him. He has plenty of time to run on his contract. They can take a gamble and wait 2, 3 or even 4 windows to secure a 50 million+ transfer fee. As I said in the other FFP thread they aren't going to let him go on the cheap. He is their star asset, the one with by far the highest value, and they're going to make sure they can juice him for every last cent.
  12. If I can get a job soon I'll be buying the away kit, which impresses me far more than the home (which is excellent, but not as good as the away IMO).
  13. Also as far as Falcao goes, the transfer will be to the highest bidder. They will play hardball with him as he doesn't earn an unsustainably high amount (for his output, anyway), and if they're cash strapped they'll need more than usual to replace him. This isn't necessarily good news from our perspective, instead of 40-45 million we'll probably have to stump up something in excess of 50 million. They'll want at least 15 or so to spend on a replacement and I imagine the 35 will go straight into servicing debt so they can show UEFA that they have 'progressed', thus permitting them back into UEFA competition.
  14. So, they pinched the clubs that were too small to make a dent in their TV revenues, and were too honest to cheat their way out of it. I'm still convinced when one of the big hitters gets into trouble it'll be quashed/the owner will ensure that they don't look like they're in trouble. Edit: I see headlines floating about like 'UEFA gets tough on FFP' and other sensationalised headlines to that effect. Which confirms to me that this was a PR stunt. Make it look like you're doing something, send out a message, and then do nothing for months/years. If anyone asks, all they have to say is 'We suspended 23 clubs, some of them huge clubs such as Europa League holders Atletico Madrid' etc. It'll get Platini what he wants, ascendancy to the president's chair at FIFA.
  15. What does Kalou have to do with AC Milan? Also as far as Serie A goes, my club is Napoli. I don't really care for anybody else.
  16. Do you guys bet on anything other than football?
  17. Youtube highlights prove nothing. A good video editor could make Heskey look world class through youtube. Aside from that I agree with your point. To cut it at the top level, no one can be purely physical and Fellaini must be at least competent skill-wise.
  18. He'll do nothing of the sort. I can summarise his game for you: Cut inside. Cut inside. Cut inside. Cut inside. He's not going to be much of a winger, unless we force him to play on his correct side and weigh down his preferred shooting boot with lead.
