Funny. First game I thought that Morata has been average despite the goal and assist. His link up is decent, but he has lost the ball a few too many times for me. I know this is brought up every week, but our wing backs are terrible defensively. Alonso got burnt by the same move, consecutively. They push the ball on one side, and run around him. Terrible acceleration, and we get some worrying moments so close to goal. Moses was so good when he started in this role originally, but I feel like he is consistently getting worse in terms of positioning, and he also fumbles the ball in dangerous areas.

City win after the whistle should have blown. Not to mention win it off a free kick that gave them possession from what was a clean tackle. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Not directly speaking to you, but maybe a few of you who have mentioned City/United and their latest transfer policies I guess. I think the difference at the moment is, we have always tried to be quite dynamic and pragmatic ever since we got money coming into the club. City has been quite the opposite in my opinion. They tried to be the glamour club, and they brought in the glamour manager now, who is quite deadset in his ways. Though eventually, you keep stock piling talent, it catches up to the more sensible, business like approach. United were very much like that under SAF. Things changed a bit for them, and they really have gone the City route. But they too are stock piling all this talent... There is no way, you look at the teams and say we are more talented than either one of their teams. I personally think Tottenham has a better starting 11 just as far as talent goes. Our culture and approach on the field and tactically has been a good staple for us, and allowed us to stay on top even without the talent. If we just gave it a bit more of a push, I think we'd be back to that level where we are consistently reaching the semis or very far in the UCL. 2 world class signings would do wonders for us, and someone like an Oxlade Chamberlain. Stuff like missing out on Sanches, Rodriguez, Aurier, etc. All could have been had for decent money, and all would make a difference. I definitely think there has been a change of ambitions within the board/Roman. I don't think there is that ambition to be the best club in the world anymore. Maybe somewhat understandable as we might not have as much money, but I think if we really push, we could be right there.

Says all the right things and appears to be a good club presence. Not to mention, comes into the team unfit, no preseason, and off an injury and puts in a gritty performance. Certainly wasn't his best, but added the physicality we needed, and made the experienced physical Spurs midfield look like children at times. Not an easy thing to do. Seems to be a really tidy dribbler as well. Whipped out some nice moves.

Still trying to find any contact, and reason for the foul on Dele Ali at 2:30 in that video...

Spurs are stockpiling strong, physical, while at the same time very technical players. Their whole team is full of beasts that are insanely skilled. Say what you want about them choking all the time, once they get the hang of things, they will be tough for anyone to beat, which they have already proven. Definitely have the talent to win the league.
-
He would be perfect for us right now. Provides the physicality Cesc doesn't, and matches him in the passing and skills area.
-
Conjecture. A lot of stuff went Bayern's way as well, but people fail to mention it. They beat Bayern. End of story.
-
People complain about his passing, but his short game is absolutely superb. Has an excellent touch. I don't know what some people are watching.
-
He was awesome as usual. Luiz for some reason will always carry around the stigma of earlier in his career at Chelsea, which even then was undeserved, but he is our rock at the back. For me, he is the most sure out of all our defenders. Hope Christensen sticks by Luiz closely in training. Possesses all the attributes Luiz does, but needs to add on the weight to get a bit stronger.
-
On another note, Harry Kane looks tremendous. I can't remember him being that quick prior to this season, but he was burning some of our quicker players for pace... Once he gets fed up of losing at the Spurs, this is one of the strikers we should be after. Really is the best striker in the premier league.

This place is horrible. Support the players. Some of you going in on Michy are ridiculous. It happens... As if he meant for it to happen. He made some good runs out there and probably should have got a penalty. Dembele clearly raised his arm and pushed, but bugger me if we get a decent replay of that. Would have been analysed to death if it was for the Spurs. Once again, everyone was having a go at Willian too, but for me was one of our better players. Should have made a few passes to Morata, but he played great as a pressure reliever at times, which Hazard does for us. Obviously not to Hazard's level, but he worked extremely hard. Azpi had a shocker. First really bad game I've seen from him. I unlike some, was extremely happy with Baka's first game. He clearly is extremely strong, and despite not being the best game to showcase, he had a few moments where you could see he has good control over the ball. His match fitness was horrible though... lol. There was a ball Morata played into him into the box in the second half, and you could see he was gassed and no chance to get to it. Hope Michy doesn't drop his head. Some of you are crazy if you don't think he is a serviceable back up. He is a good player.
-
Would have been 2-0 if Willian just passed the ball to Morata...
-
Baka looked weak to some? He looks as strong as an ox. He has been bullying players in the middle. Just doesn't look match fit.
-
The ref is having a shocker. What else is new for us though? Two completely different standards when it comes to fouls. I was shocked he didn't give Tottenham a penalty for that Harry Kane dive.
-
Great post. Probably perfect in a 3 man midfield. Funny how all the guys you mentioned there all got called lazy at one point, yet as we know, all so effective.
-
Looking like 50 mil has been agreed upon and being reported in a few places. Glad this is finally over. Now lets spend that money on a wingback and midfielder. 90 mil to spend from Matic and Diego. Plenty to make this team a lot better and deeper.
-
They are talented. No doubt. I just think Jose's game has been figured out somewhat and at times the attack gets stale. They created a lot last season too, but had trouble with finishing. I think they'll have a patch like that again. I could be wrong though. But, I feel as if some problems are still there from last season.
-
Eh, everyone was impressed with them at the start of last season too. They still don't look that great going forward. Just my opinion.
-
Nah, we don't need a midfielder...
-
Nitpicking to be honest. Everton fans said the same. He doesn't do much off the ball, and he doesn't work enough to get involved... At the end of the day, he finds himself in great positions, and puts it away. He wins games. Whether he makes it look pretty is a whole different topic, but his style is clearly effective. United looked better than they have in a long time. Still don't think they are a better side than us, but they are definitely top 4 this year.
-
I'm finding it a bit bizarre myself. We seem to deal with a wide variety of clubs, and then when it comes to going the other way, it just doesn't happen. Then another club will come along later with a similar, or even smaller bid, and somehow that gets accepted? Either what is being reported isn't true, and we aren't actually making these bids, or there is some insane order in place where not many teams like selling to us... for whatever reason, despite us being able to deal with other teams.
-
He looked quicker than ever. Very promising. I was always a fan. And like someone said, he did look a bit like Pogba out there...
-
Get him in now and ready for the Spuds game. He'll get to play his favourite position until Baka comes back.

After 6 games last season, we had 10 points... I think we can better that, and we have a far harder schedule this time around. Our backline is fine in my opinion. We are better with Christensen than Cahill. What is the deal with Moses? Will he be available? Wings are fine. Hopefully Pedro is back. If not, Willian and Musonda are good enough. They're pacy, and against the Spurs given our lack of depth, hitting them on the counter will be what we try and do. The only question is who will play in the middle of the park? I didn't like Azpi at RWB, so if Moses is available, play him there, and maybe Azpi steps into that middle role? Or Luiz, since he is better on the ball and a far better passer. Think we would be pretty solid defensively that way. Everyone needs to calm down with the panic. One game didn't go our way. We started horribly last season, and by all statistics, we had one of the most dominant title runs ever. Things don't look good at the moment with depth, but lets hope the board get cracking on that end and assess things in 5 game patches, not game by game, or minute by minute as some did in the game thread talking about how our season was over after the first half.
