100% of that would have been aimed at Mou.
-
We'd still win the league.
-
Probably a good thing we didn't go after him last season. I feel as if he will be easier to get, and much cheaper after a very lackluster season now.
-
It'd be really nice to have this guy on the team in the upcoming transfer window. I think a lot of us would sleep easier knowing our defence doesn't really need to be fixed anymore. Having him in the starting 3, and then having Zouma and even Cahill on the bench, would make our defence one of the best. Alonso would be the weak link, but he has his positives, and could easily be replaced by Baba or Kennedy in the near future. Get it done!

Luiz is our best defender. I shared that view the first time he was here, and now people are sharing that view with me the second time around. Just because he smiles and jokes around, doesn't make him and his play a joke. He has always been world class.
-
I'm not convinced Zouma is the answer to our problems. Technically, he isn't very good. Great physical attributes in regards to speed and strength, but I'm not so sure about him with the ball at his feet, and even his positioning at times.
-
Not as a CB. He played some part in why there were 3 goals put behind them. His positioning was terrible at times.
-
I didn't see him struggle. The whole team struggled stopping Sane, but he was great, particularly in the 2nd half. Defended well, stopped two almost certain goals against Aguero, and did amazingly well with Willian beating his man, getting into space and creating space and movement on offence in the 2nd half.

Incredible how quick he got off the bench after a back issue in the game earlier... lol. Dude is always up for it. I think that fight sparked something possibly healed the back quicker than usual. lol. I've also been really impressed with his dribbling lately. Yes, he does take on too many defenders at once at times, but I'm completely happy to see him do it. It is still enormous pressure on defences, and at times he really doesn't have anyone with him, and it doesn't seem viable to play back. But I'm not just talking about that, since his close control has been really good this season.

That finish. He deserves a lot of credit for that. Not the best angle to shoot, but he slotted it perfectly. I thought he was really good against City. Did really well on the wing with Moses pushing through and getting around City players when they got tired around the 60th minute mark. They were both really good from that point.
-
Would really love an upgrade for him, but obviously difficult in many regards. He is in a system that is working and we are getting wins, so it is hard to drop a player for that. Also, who is there out there available at the moment? Hate to say it, but Koulibaly would be a dream next to Luiz. Both are so strong and good on the ball. Not to mention that they are lightning quick for CBs.

I don't think they were better. I think it was back and forth and a draw would have been the right result. Easy to say they were considering they should have gone up 2-0, but we had our chances too. The difference with us is, we seem to get into a lot of good positions, but unlike them, our missed opportunities usually result in trying to overplay and get the best shot on goal with too many passes. Where as they pepper the goal. We had a lot of almost chances too, and we created 2 goals ourselves in regular play, and then the last one because they were pressing so hard. At the end of the day, 2-2 would have been a fair result, but we kept our composure better, and won when we didn't really play our best. An important trait for aspiring champions.

What a finish! FUCK YEAH!!!!!!!
-
Sane has caused us a bunch of trouble. I'm glad he is off.
-
We look as bad as they do at the back. Luiz has been polar opposite to that first half.
-
Was gonna say the same thing mate. Willian in the middle would be great for today IMO too. The pace, defensive workrate, and ability to get out of trouble and burst through the middle would be very valuable.
-
Azpi has been terrible, but I expect him to get better in the second half since he is a quality player. Cahill on the other hand is pure garbage. Always has been, and always will be. Can't wait until we buy someone else back there. We clearly need an upgrade for Alonso as well. Alonso and Cahill need upgrades, but aside from that, I'm not that impressed with City. Think we are better than them.
-
Great win. Turned it on, and completely changed our play at the start of that second half and created the chances we need. Could have got more too. I really think we created the better and more dangerous chances overall. A few observations from the game: Ivanovic doesn't belong on the field. Got absolutely burned the first piece of defending he had to do, and looked out of place the rest of the time when defending was a must. On another note, Dembele is a really awesome player. Would love a strong, tall, physical midfielder like him who has that fluidity to his game. He is the new Yaya Toure in the league. Has it all in his bag. Should try and swindle him over here.
-
Apparently they can wrestle us these last 10 minutes. Ref is letting everything go for them. Awesome.
-
Ref can go f*ck himself. How do you call a foul on Kante there after he gets shoved aside with nothing but arms? Tosser.
-
Ivanovic gets absolutely destroyed on his first attempt to defend on that right side...
-
I don't usually complain about subs, but bringing on Ivanovic after a pacy left winger has just entered for them doesn't make much sense to me.

Luiz is the victim of his personality. If you're a funky, funny, wacky type guy with the hair to match, then you'll get called out for your mistakes a hell of a lot more, and your commitment and attitude will be questioned. I never knew why anyone here was in uproar about him originally returning . I'm sure many of you are saying "easy to say that now" with him playing so well, but if you look back, I was delighted with him returning. He is a brilliant player, and a great defender. The whole "he is not a great defender, but a great player" shtick was a load of BS from the get go. He is great on the ball, physically imposing, and very direct. Also, he is one of the better defenders in one on one situations. He likes to get forward and sometimes makes a mistake? What top class defender doesn't? There is no chance in hell that if you go game by game, and analyze everything carefully, that he makes that much more, or any more mistakes than someone like Kompany, Terry, Bonucci, Mustafi, etc. Just go rewatch the Arsenal-Spurs game over the weekend. I saw Mustafi make 4 errors alone that game with clearances and not defending possible goal opportunities, and no one said a word because nothing happened with it. Same with the so called "awesome Spurs duo". A bunch of mistakes, but didn't really result in any goals. But, you know, they don't have the joker type personality, so they don't get called out on it. Luiz is a fantastic player for us. For me, a deadset starter every week. Not to mention, a very emotional player who seems to love the club. Captain wouldn't be a stretch, and would probably make him a bit more serious about it all, which some of you would love, since you're only allowed one type of personality.
-
I'm sure I'm in the minority, but when he was in the team last season he just didn't inspire me with that much confidence up the back. Neither does Cahill, but I simply don't see all the talent and hype that some people see with him. I'd love to be wrong, but I just don't see the thing everyone is going crazy for. I really don't think he is a bang on starter every week quality player.

This forum really cracks me up. Some of you sit here and loathe the fact we sold Mata, when over the course of his stay at Chelsea outside of one splendid season, he proved to be very average, and since he has left, he proved to be even more average than we thought. On the other hand, we have Lukaku, who for some reason is hated on here, and people act as if he had a cry, and didn't want to fight for his spot. Sounds like something Mata did when he couldn't get selected for the team and got dropped. Lukaku on the other hand was a young kid wanting his break. Guess what? Since he got it, he has been fantastic, and one of the best forwards in the league. He has proven to be a great talent, unlike Mata. Once again he sits up near the top of the goal scorers list and is a constant headache for most defenders. He has improved his link up play, is an immense threat in front of goal, and plays within himself. He is clearly a skilled player with a great eye for goal. I would not mind him back at all.
