Matic was probably as good, if not better than Kante in his first season with us.

Bayern time wasting in a friendly. Boring team, playing boring football, making their league boring by buying up any talent in their league.
-
David Luiz is the clear leader on the team. Anyone who can't see that, isn't watching the games. The man should be captain.

It is a bit funny seeing all the love for him now. Most were slating him on here as not good enough because Conte said so... We never saw him play, and people on here were pretending as if their in depth analysis were valid after seeing him make 3 minute sub appearances. One thing that stood out, and has been a constant is that he is a dynamic player with some good link up play.
-
Why not try and target Martial? Seems to be falling out of favour at Man United, and with Perisic looking like a target for them, why not offer Matic and some cash? Offers the same type of diversity as Sanchez. Powerful winger/can play as striker, great speed and is decent linking up. Much younger too, and can be had for a similar or cheaper price.

I'm not usually one to complain about price tags, but I just don't see him being an 80 mil player... When did Morata become some big ticket item that everyone wanted a piece of? Because that is what that price tag signifies. He has no presence on the field, isn't particularly great at anything and seems like a player that would be happy to float through a game and not really give a damn. He just comes off blas-e and nonchalant. I know I'm repeating what someone in this thread has already stated, but is he really any better than Michy? Michy proved to be quite good at link up, and he knows how to find the net, better than Morata in fact. I guess the only reason I'd be relieved is because we'd finally bolster up our squad a bit and have options. Michy and Morata going forward isn't too bad as both are young and quite versatile.

All these negatives yet still bagged more goals. Just saying. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Some of you are acting as if Lukaku sucks. I guess anyone can have a 20+ goal season in the league. But let's go for Belotti instead. Clearly proven himself. 1 season. A smaller, less physical and less skilled player than Lukaku. But he isn't Lukaku so he is automatically better.... lol. I'll never get it, but whatever. Latest flavour of the month is always the best on this board. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Why as fans do we care about the price? Especially in a transfer window where it finally appears that neither does our club. Doing what it takes to bring in good to great players. VVD is definitely an upgrade for us and has room to grow. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

You'd think so. I guess that was too easy. lol... My point is, I see people going gaga for players who are slow, easy to push off the ball and not dynamic in any sense. I keep mentioning Silva, because I honestly think he'll be a similar level to Mahrez, while playing on a far better team, hence making it easy to look better.

Would be great if true. He is a perfect player for the premier league. Like I said, we need players who are physical, and technical with the ball. I know a lot on here are ooing and aahing over City getting Silva, but he doesn't have the physicality IMO. Great players today are physical beasts with great technical ability. They don't possess just the one attribute. This sets us up for right now, and the future. Would be our best signing in some time.
-
Probably because he isn't anywhere near as good as touted on here.
-
Might just be me, but I don't really see anything special about him. Each his own I guess. I wouldn't pay anything over 30 mil based of what I have seen.
-
Seems like the people that didn't want Luiz back are the same ones harping on about Lukaku. I can't wait for him to get here and start banging in goals. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Decent keeper. Good business.

Why not just say you don't like him? Which parts exactly didn't belong in a skills compilation. He is a 6 foot 3, 100kg player. Were you expecting rabonas, spins and chops all video long? Go watch a 50kg manlet on the wing then. All this shit about him being poor with the ball when he is a step up from Costa. All this stuff about him being poor with link up? Better than Costa. Goals? Better than Costa. In the air? Better than Costa. And he is 24. Our board clearly doesn't know what they're doing though. Not like we've won all these premier league titles and a champions league recently. Clearly we don't bring in the right players to reach new heights. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Yeah... have a look at that Bayern side and this Chelsea side. It isn't close in terms of the amount of talent outside the striker. They had players who can chip in goals at every position just about. Not to mention every player was near world class. Did I miss something and has this happened at Chelsea? Where is this stigma coming from that Lukaku is some pushover in terms of personality and Costa is some fierce lion? Laughable really. As if you lot are on the pitch getting an ear in as to what goes on. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

I really want Michy to get his chance. He proved he can knock them in when given time on the pitch. At times his link up was amazing. Works hard and he is a physical beast too. Big, strong and fast. But this forum was quick to write him off because he wasn't scoring when he wasn't on the pitch. Lol... I agree with you in a lot of ways. I just don't really know what Michy can do for a whole season. I've seen what Lukaku can do. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

I remember when we had strikers who weren't regular goalscorers... Now that we have one coming our way people are complaining and want the guy who isn't a regular goalscorer but helps us play nice football. Serious question. Who will score goals for us if not our striker? That is what sets the big teams apart. They all have that guy who can knock in 25 a season. Morata isn't and has never been that. Lukaku already is. Given the paragraphs Leif has written, he'll still be eating those words well after Lukaku has retired as a Chelsea legend.
-
I don't see how he fails here... he is coming to our team where he will have 10 times better service than that of Everton. Costa manages to get 20 a season and he isn't as clinical as Lukaku. As for attitude somehow separating Lukaku and Costa... I don't see it. Costa wasn't anything special in big matches. In fact I think Lukaku has put in more against top opponents this season... with Everton players feeding him the ball. He is better in the air by a country mile as well as being a more clinical finisher. The whole not a hard worker and attitude points are moot until we see him play here. Going by facts though, he is more clinical and multi faceted than Costa. The rest is conjecture as of now. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

He isn't raw though. He is quite skilled. Lack of awareness makes sense, but more so in the lack of understanding in the step up in competition. That quickly goes away after playing a few games in decent comp. You play more within yourself. Clearly that Man United team was the best team he has played against.

Anyone know what is going on with Charly? Everyone is saying to upgrade the winger position coming into next season, but how about giving Charly a run to possibly give Pedro and Willian some competition? Might just be me, but the kid has pace, technique, is a two footed player and is quite direct in his play. Deserves a shot IMO. He is quite weak, but something that can be worked on.

I have no idea how you left with that impression after the United game. He has a very good all around game. Extremely composed, and an incredible physical force. Not to mention caught Lingard and Rashford in a full out sprint. How many CB's are there that can do that? Would welcome him here for sure. He would bring a different dynamic to the team and allow us to play a more appealing and more dominant brand of football. Being able to hold the ball in the back between him, Azpi and Luiz. Possession is important in the big games. Being able to have more of the ball and set up more attacks is always beneficial. He would be a good step towards that.
