  1. I actually think many fans here did give a lot of thought in to his loan departure, and if I remember correctly, many members, including me, were furious that we had sent a desperately needed playmaker to no other than Arsenal. And not that it matters much, but Meireles, Mikel and Essien are definitely not the exact type of players. On the team sheet they may look like they play the same position, but all three have very different abilities if you ask me.
  2. The first two goals by Ronaldo weren't just well taken, they were unstoppable. And the Callejon goal was easier to save than Ronaldo's, but that doesn't make it an easy save, it was very well struck by Callejon. I wouldn't blame any goalkeeper in the world for any of those goals.
  3. Too late. Another amazing goal from Ronaldo, nothing Courtois could do about that one either.
  4. How do you know that we had that option?
  5. He's a pro athlete. He's been in top form for probably 7 years, a little game run is not going to ruin his career.
  6. Cech Ivanovic - Cahill - Terry - Cole Romeu - Lampard Ramires - Mata - Sturridge Torres Hoping for this line up, although Romeu has vanished I think he's more suited for this game than Mikel. I don't want to see Drogba anywhere near the first team. And yes, Ramires isn't a winger, but he is by far a better option than Kalou or Malouda.
  7. I think he's good enough to play in the PL, I just don't think he's good enough to replace Cech... yet. You are correct, he wrote an article about JT that I translated and posted it here. He's not in my team but every football fan in Iceland knows of him. But wow it really is a small world!
  8. But why have Courtois rot on our bench when he's getting valuable experience at Atletico?
  9. Let's not jump ahead of ourselves with the KDB predictions. We have no idea if he will fit in the PL or if he even is good enough. I don't think he should be the reason for us not getting another winger. And yes, we badly need one.
  10. Service a la Sturridge? Are you kidding? Did you miss the Leicester game? Or any other game Sturridge has featured in really..
  11. Drogba was terrible, but if he would have bothered to show up that sub would have made perfect sense. And I really disagree that it was RDM's fault. The players who didn't give a fuck are the ones to blame.
  12. Yes, it happens, but after 12 years of professional football you would think that he would know not to stretch his arms up in the box when there is a shot coming in, hell, my 5 year old brother knows that. And I am so disappointed with Drogba tonight, I'm not blaming him for anything, but he came off the bench being the only one fresh on the pitch, and he didn't even try. I will be furious if he starts on saturday. The team just seems so effortless, forget the 2-1 score, losing is not the thing that bothers me the most, it's those players who dare to wear that badge and don't give a fuck about giving a performance or not.
  13. Both Lavezzi and Hulk are wingers or inside forwards, rather then strikers. They shouldn't determine wether we get Falcao or not.
  14. Why is it that when we are only one goal down everyone seems to be on walking pace? Pisses the shit out of me. Fair enough to lose by one goal to City at home isn't something to be raging about, but when I see the players having no desire, not trying to win a ball, I get crazy. I want to see anger, determination and some bloody passion when there are two minutes to go and we're down by one. Where the fuck did that Chelsea go?
  15. For 30, maybe 35m he would be a great buy. He's a great player and can play anywhere in the front three. Is the telegraph a reliable source?
  16. I go each year, we own a house in Vilamoura, Algarve. And no I'm afraid I haven't watched them enough this season, mostly just in the big games (vs. Sporting and Porto, and the CL). But I went to a game at Estádio da Luz vs. Braga a few years ago, the stadium is simply amazing, outshines the huuuge mall right next to it. But I have seen them enough to know not to underestimate them, Gaitan, Aimar, Witsel, Saviola, Cardozo. These are quality players.
  17. Well, when you think about it we spent about 65 mil this summer. Mata (£23m) Lukaku (£18m) Meireles (£12m) Romeu (£6m) Courtois (£6m), the numbers might be slighlty different, don't remember the exact figures. Sneijder is too old, he would be a bad signing. Azpilicueta would be great, I think. Not too sure about Hamsik or Lavezzi. I would rather want someone like Christian Eriksen for Hamsik and Muniain for Lavezzi, they shouldn't cost as much but are younger. I know we denied Eriksen two times and that he maybe wouldn't want to come here, but I would like a player in that mould. Jovetic would also be a great signing, cheaper than Lavezzi but can be equally productive, would be a kind of a Mata-ish signing. Roughly guessing the price, it would be Azpi (£12m) Eriksen (£15m) Muniain (£20m) and Jovetic (£20m). That's £67 mil which is well doable and would make our team well capable of challenging all competitions. -----------------------------Cech------------------------- Brana/Azpi ---- Luiz/Cahill ---- Terry---- Cole/Bertrand ---------------Essien/Rami--------Eriksen------------- Muniain ----------------- Mata -------------- Jovetic -------------------- Torres/Sturridge ------------------------ Now, that lineup gets me wet.
  18. I am half portuguese and have supported Benfica since I was a child, so this will certainly be an interesting tie for me. But I have blue blood so I will always support Chelsea. But Benfica are capable of very good performances, we must not underestimate them. Welcome to the forum mate. Eusebio is a legend. I am not sure about the decision to fire AVB. I think this season would have continued to be bad with him aboard, but I also think if we would've kept him that he could've done something magnificent next season with his own players.
  19. Great game. Finally it came for Torres, but let's not get our hopes up, remember the last time he scored a brace. Either way he was outstanding today and really deserves credit. Sturridge is by far the most annoying player to watch in our team, every time he gets the ball I get frustrated. Bertrand was good, I really have faith in the lad. I thought he was okay, but he is just so unbearably slow. Everything he does is just like he's in first gear, I really hope we get to see Romeu again soon. And after tonights performance I really hope we get to see Torres in action against City.
  20. Are you kidding? Paulo was great at that time, and the fact that you mention Del Horno just proves that you don't really know what you are talking about, since Del Horno has always been a left back.
  21. I really don't understand why, sure he is annoying, but he isn't as bad as people claim him to be.
  22. I watch them regularly, maybe not enough. Either way it can't be any worse than our service. I was probably thinking more about the quality players who can pass/cross the ball (Silva, Milner, Johnson) than the service as a whole.
  23. Still on a team that has fantastic service. I've come to realize that Chelsea should never look at stats for a striker, what we should be looking for in a striker is his quality and playing style, and Dzeko just doesn't cut it for us in my opinion.
  24. I just think he isn't good enough, if we could get him on loan, sure. But what are the chances of that happening?
