A German international at a young age, most likely he is better than anybody we have except for maybe Zouma, but that is left up for debate due to his injury. Improvement over what we have is what we should be aiming for, we are not in a position to get the best of the best. If we get him, a pretty obvious target of Conte's, I'd be happy... it's something.

Could be a nice cheap stop-gap tbh. If we are looking at players like Rüdiger, Manolas and Koulibaly for defence, they are all fairly young, so having experience in defence is not a bad thing. It is the line that needs maturity the most. I can see Lichtsteiner balancing his inexperienced CBs quite nicely. Although I'm not sure what happens to Azpi then, back to LB? Have a feeling he won't fail so badly over there (and even him failing means winning titles along the way). He treated Chelsea as his own, he was worshipped here and therefore was above everybody else, he got overly arrogant and confident and spinned out of control as a result. At United I think he will be more careful with everything he does or says and he knows he will have to win everybody over from scratch, including the fans and the ones in the board against his appointment. He will have learned from his mistakes (hopefully not) and will try to cater to their wishes. Being in the same city with Guardiola will give him a kick up his butt for sure. I have a feeling this is what will happen, I hope not of course.

Romelu would be ideal for that. In fairness he has quite a few advantages over Costa and I would take him if it weren't for that ridiculous quoted price. He will not be cheap considering he's at Everton and is home grown, so I'd rather we focus our financial power elsewhere and keep Costa for now.

Actually thinking about it, I myself just recently stepped down as moderator of one (big) forum for the same reasons. The call for professionalism was uncalled for on my part, I apologize, I used to have that shit laid down on me on quite regular basis. Hell recently I even appeared in a newspaper (anonymously) being subtly criticized for some of my decisions on that site, that being one of the reasons I decided to call quits because lots of prejudice and know-it-all from unrelated people was involved and everything was being blown out of proportion. So yeah, I wasn't trying to imply that Spike didn't act on what he thought was best, I'm sure he did, I was just trying to provide constructive criticism on something I didn't agree with, something which I almost never received. Bottom line is if you can't take criticism or questions being asked in stride, then being a mod/admin on a popular internet forum is definitely not for you, that is the hard truth I found out myself in that ungrateful position.
