Consider where we have been this season, and where we are. Now consider us winning the FA Cup, getting to the last four of the UCL and finishing fifth in the league. Would you take that?
-
Absolutely spot on Jai. You can have one beautiful, ripe and juicy tangerine, but amongst a half-dozen rotten ones it doesn't make for much at all.
-
Except grow two years older! I think Madrid would except something in the £90 million range for the two. They'd be mad not to, surely?

Looking at Barcelona's 1990s team, there was still a very good proportion of Spanish in the squad. Perhaps equal or even better to today's contingent, as there was no limitation on squad size previously. You only need to look at their squad that we came up against in '97. But I see your point, I am not being ignorant of it. I would just like to see as much English talent as possible in this Chelsea side, but that is the patriot in me talking, I feel. I see what you are saying but I feel you are missing my point. I am not saying we regard our English players more than those of any other nationality. What I am saying, is I presume that for a British Chelsea supporter, there is perhaps more desire to see young British talent at the club than there is for an American or Indian supporter, for instance. I am not saying there is no interest from other nationalities, but I think it excites the English core more to see young lads like Josh and Ryan than it does for others. I am not being xenophobic, that is just how I have witnessed it on this forum over the last five years; our British members seem more enthusiastic about young British talent than worldwide users do. Again, it is the patriot in us, I think!

Fuck you Vedran! I'm making my decisions today... -
Question - do you have a working set of eyeballs? Question - you do realise this is his first season in the EPL, right?
-
But we're and English club, and I want to see English players. I'm not at all being xenophobic or prejudiced when I say this, but I think it means more to the English fans that we are getting some quality young English talent in the youth team at the minute, and we should promote that. Look at Barca and Real - almost their entire team is Spanish. I'd love for us to have more English players.

Yes he looked like he realised he was out of his area and just decided to stay tall and force Adebayor wide. Very sensible.
-
Definitely agree. 10 starts and a dozen substitute appearances for both will do nicely.
-
I hope we get a manager who comes in and thinks, "fuck me, this kid is lightning-quick, strong and skilful and with great composure for such a young guy. I'm going to play him instead of that African guy who only plays when he wants, or the £180,000-a-week man who's scored an almighty six goals this season".

Couple of decent saves yesterday. The one from vdV was admittedly straight at him but he reacted well as he saw it very late, through a crowd of players. Also, Cahill looked like he was doing his best to impede him! Good save at the end from Bale's free-kick. Any goalkeeper will admit their biggest fear is the ball dipping and bouncing in the six yard box as there is so little time to react. He did the right thing in palming it behind. He also made a good decision to come out when Adebayor went through, coming out so quick made Adebayor take a bigger touch around him, allowing Cahill the chance to get back. Good goalkeeping.

The medical staff are either worried by a niggling injury or the board are concerned by Barcelona's interest.

[Justin3d] And now he's brilliant [/Justin3d] In all honesty, just glad he's playing games for us. Looks so good us having three English defenders at the heart of the team Add in Frank and Studge and we have half our outfield squad as English players, which is a welcome change to Chelsea teams of recent years.
-
Absolutely. I think that pairing is the best we have,
-
The only thing he has acquired is Premier League experience. His ball retention has always been good. However he is too slow and considered in his passing. His ideology is too negative to suit this team.
-
Dear di Matteo, As you seem to be a little visually impaired, I'll spell it out for you; Ramires is not a right winger. He cannot pass, nor can he cross. His shooting is also terrible. His assets are his tackling ability, his pace and his dynamism. Three qualities that suit the role of midfield enforcer. Thus, before I go fucking mental, play him in centre midfield you douche. Regards, Alex.

Can't believe that if United win tomorrow we'll be 23 points behind the league leaders. That gap will only grow as well. Are we really that bad? Let's face it, this United team is awful and City are the biggest bunch of chokers I've ever seen.
-
We'll have wee Canales then.
-
Look at our run-in and compare it with Spurs. No way are we catching them. In fact, we should change this to 'I'm worried about 5th place' because Newcastle will be behind us only on GD if they beat West Brom today.
-
And he almost always got the better of Mourinho.
-
I agree.
-
Same. In fact I remember you and I were perhaps the most vociferous defenders of the man before he even kicked a ball.

Our own BenficaGlory has very kindly offered to answer some questions ahead of the much-anticipated clash between Benfica and Chelsea on Tuesday evening in the Champions League. With questions ranging from the draw, Oscar Cardozo, the magnificent Cathedral to the score, you can see the responses here: What was your reaction to the quarter-final draw? Were you relieved you were not drawn against one of the Spanish giants, or Bayern Munich? Of course I was happy to avoid Real, Barcelona and Bayern. Chelsea is a team that allow us to dream and believe in the semi-finals. But although Chelsea was my 3rd choice, after APOEL and Marseille, you still have a fantastic squad, with players that can make the difference. Benfica are having a great season - you are one point behind Porto in the league, have gone further than any other Portuguese team in the Champions League and of course you have the Taca da Liga final next month. Right now, what is your priority for the season - the league, the cup, or Europe? I wouldn't say it's been a great season; we haven't won nothing yet. Our priority is definitely the League. In the last round you knocked out Zenit, which is an impressive achievement. Do you think that you will be able to emulate the feat against Chelsea? I don't think it was that impressive. In my opinion it was our obligation to eliminate a team like Zenit. Since we knocked out Zenit, we felt like we did what we had to do and it all depends on the draw... I believe we can beat Chelsea, but the quarter-finals is great comparing to our recent performances. Anything better than this is a bonus. I would be sad but not disappointed if we get knocked out. If our opponent was APOEL and Marseille, our obligation was the semis. Which Benfica players do you think that di Matteo needs to watch out for? Will Cardozo be the man to inspire you to victory? Cardozo is always dangerous. He's having a great season. He has a fantastic killer instinct. Gaitán, Maxi, Aimar, Javi and Rodrigo can be an ice-breaker too. We have a very balanced team, we don't depend on a star player. Chelsea and Benfica have done a lot of transfer business in the past - we have signed players such as Tiago, Ramires and David Luiz from you. Are Benfica fans looking forward to seeing two of those players (Luiz and Ramires) returning to Lisbon? Which of the two have improved the most since leaving your club? Yes, of course. We like them a lot, especially David Luiz. I would say Ramires, I'm slightly disappointed with Luiz's performance since he went to London. Also, your stadium has been chosen to host the 2014 UEFA Champions League final. Is this something that has excited Benfica supporters? Definitely! It's about time, I still can't believe our old stadium (the biggest European stadium ever) was never chosen to host a Champions League final... If we had the oportunity to be in the final it would be even better. If you had the choice and could sign any Chelsea player that you wanted, who would it be; and why? Ramires. Because I admire him a lot and although he only played one season for us, I feel he fell in love with Benfica and Lisbon. Also, the Aimar-Ramires-Witsel trio would be simply fantastic. And finally, what is you prediction for the score in tonight's game - and who do you think will progress to the semi-finals? I am 99% sure Benfica will win at the Estádio da Luz. Maybe 1-0/2-0... But that does not guarantee us the semi-finals. I really don't know who is going to progress to next phase, to be honest. May the best team win and good luck! Remember you can have you say on the match by discussing the game here, and also taking part in our Prediction League competition!
