Statement signings are all well and good, but it has to be the right signing. Look at Lukaku. Backing TT is absolutely crucial though. We are only where we are because of him and his tactical nous has definitely made up for inconsistencies from players. Any other manager and this group wouldn’t be 3rd IMO.

Wont lie I have always rated Jesus, if City are willing to let him go even for £40-45m, I would take him here. 100%. He is an incredibly hard working footballer who has shown he can deliver with goals if played regularly. There are rumours he is unhappy at City due to lack of minutes over the years. Same with Bernardo Silva wanting to leave. And Laporte was another one at the time. For different reasons perhaps but none the less, wanting to leave. Plus you look at the type of CF we need, someone who is able to run the channels, drift in and out of central areas to link with others and ultimately, press well. I don’t think he would be a bad buy at all. In fact I think him going to Arsenal, would be a good move for both him and them.

Tuchel confirmed hes leaving this summer.
-
Will be next summer he moves unless one of us City or United offer a huge huge fee. Would imagine none of us or those two will due to other commitments/issues.
-
He will have to do so with Conte though, plus as an elite level manager he also has pulling power for players. He has effectively walked away from top top clubs because of this, he isn’t going to bluff with Spurs either, if Levy doesn’t put up a bit more he will go. And if Levy is willing to do that then he will feel a bit of backlash to say the least, from their fans. I agree with @Tomo, Arsenal top 4 is better than Spurs. Because they really aren’t going anywhere anytime fast, they’re good for 3/4 weeks, then shite for another 3/4.

Is it just me or is he looking and sounding a bit stressed/frustrated? I mean I dont want to make excuses for the guy but the last 8 weeks or so have been incredibly stressful mentally probably with all the talk or distractions from the press of Ukraine-Russia, Roman-Putin, new owners and splitting from his wife so I am not surprised that Tuchel is maybe starting to cut a frustrated figure of late. Throw in recent performances also doesn’t help clearly. He’s maybe saying that to the press but I have no doubts he will be in the dressing room tearing some of them guys apart and have clearer thoughts on how we lost tonight. The performances the last 3 home games defensively have been awful. 11 goals conceded. He also talked about mistakes also so its not as if he hasn’t said anything else and is just blaming the pitch. Its probably deflection tactics.

Still, not entirely convinced its worth persevering with someone who only seems to play alright 2/3 games every so long and ultimately has underwhelmed throughout his spell here. If we can get someone who can offer similar attributes and provide quality on a consistent basis then Werner is basically all but done here. Okay finding that is perhaps less straightforward than it sounds but even a different profile of player who can offer quality consistently. Depending on the likes of Ziyech, Timo and even Pulisic is very tough to do over the course of a season and you can’t build chemistry in a team by chopping and changing your attack due to poor/unconvincing performances every week. I don’t think he will survive here past the summer, or that he deserves the opportunity to either. Lukaku will be gone also. I am confident of this.

Not even close to compare him and Rudi’s situations. Rudi was actually pretty good under Conte and decent with Sarri, was really only Frank who froze him out. Rudiger had money in the bank so to speak from 2 seasons where he had performed reasonably well. Was Frank who didn’t play him/tried to let him go. And arguing to keep Werner but let Lukaku go is also so stupid (although aye Rom must go as it looks like his relationship with TT is broken). Like yes Rom is an ill fit (incredibly) but if people are willing to give Werner 3 seasons to prove his worth as a Chelsea player then we might as well give everyone more 3 seasons. No? I mean the two of them have flattered to deceive and I don’t think we can afford the patience to persevere with mediocre players (look at the Torres situation and what persevering/being unable to move him on did to us). Also wasn’t this the season Timo had to really prove himself? And play at a high level consistently? Or is it just keep going to he does it even if it takes another season or two or until his contracts done now? Get rid before we cannot/whilst we can get some resale value. Ziyech also in that group just now, not done enough.
-
Disagree on him getting the chance to resurrect his career here. Sell him in the summer. Has played 83 games now across 2 seasons only scoring 22 goals which ultimately for someone who was renowned for being a goalscorer is unacceptable. He has missed something like 15 easy chances across 2 seasons now too. If he stays and again doesn’t produce we risk losing out another 10m on his potential resale price probably. He is too inconsistent and also mentally seems not fully up to it. Maybe that’s harsh on his mentality but was he not blabbing to the media about how its easier to play for the German NT?

So not all doom and gloom again after Brentford and Real Madrid eh? Who’d of thought…

It will still dishearten a lot of fans, the father ‘may not’ be involved and they may have ‘distanced’ themselves from him but where do you think their wealth came from? They may have earned their places at other company’s but they own the baseball team through a family trust with their parents also as owners. I would assume that same family trust will be financing their bid for ownership here. Unless they’ve got that much sitting about under a mattress. So whatever way you look at it, their family name is bad news and an association with their father will always be there. The irony is the club is only really being sold due to our current owners past ties with Vladimir Putin, which are mainly/more than likely political. So I can absolutely see why this would be a deal breaker to some people because now we are suffering from having a current owner who has a political past with somebody who is morally a very questionable person. Well the groups have to the 11th now. The biggest hold up will be the Government ensuring no cash goes into Roman’s pocket also. Wait and see.
-
Hmmmmm…. I mean if he can keep playing as he is for longer than a month some would agree. But he normally tends to not, so probably overstepping the mark to say he’s too good for us right now. But Real beat us so its time for the over the top opinions to everything calms down when we win at the weekend.
-
Take more than just Broja and Gallagher though. Even at the beginning of the season Broja was never going to be the man or enough to lead our attack every week when trying to compete for a title when some suggested it (although clearly it is fair to say neither is Lukaku). Both have had good seasons so far but I think we would all like to have seen them play like this, in the PL, at this level, for longer than 1 year. I would imagine one will definitely be involved with the squad whilst another maybe on loan again to keep progressing based on how many loans they’ve had already. I mean look at when the guys came in under Frank, they were a breath of fresh air for a while then we hit a wall with inconsistencies. Two thirds of our attacking players are struggling/not at the required levels not to really further progress/compete with City and Liverpool as a team as well as Azpi/Rudi/Andreas all potentially leaving so its obvious that we will need a few.
-
🤣 so the knives are out after 2 poor team performances a few weeks after hes agreed to sign Barca. He’s basically been Mr consistent (at a very high level) for 80-90% of Tuchel’s reign, some of you need to settle down. It is embarrassing. Yous gonna turn on Rudi too if he leaves?
-
Pretty sure we had bad results prior to the CL games, particularly v Porto (WBA game) last season. Wouldn’t worry about this today in regards to the CL, form goes out the window for knockout football. Plus Madrid may be top of La Liga but they are an older side. Would expect TT to outwit Ancelotti tactically if I am honest, well, only if he plays 343 as us using a back 4 is horrendous.
-
Every time we use a back 4 with Tuchel, we struggle. What a shite result if it stays this way. And people have been continuously muttering about wanting to see a back 4 this season too. Doesn't work. Also RLC and Werner yikes. Not good enough.
-
Yep. Must be difficult not playing against Israel every week for Germany.
-
If we are stuck with Werner for another season we are doomed. In fact some of the attackers we have need a serious kick up the arse but Werner is clearly not a good fit to stay here for another season.
-
Be surprised if he remains at Everton beyond the summer. Their owner is notorious for going through managers and Frank hasn’t really turned anything around, in fact they’re struggling just as much if not even more. Theres also huge talk of a clause in his contract which means they have to avoid a big pay out to get rid of him. Still can’t believe he thought going to Everton was going to be a good move for him.
-
Tbf Higuain and Morata robbed him of about 5 assists easily his first season here and then god knows about under Frank year 1 because we had a good xG but poor conversion rate.
-
Keep seeing talk of a “super consortium” and quite frankly it scares me. As they say, having too many cooks spoils the broth. Hopefully we get something done with a leading figure and not X amount of idiots who may want or expect different things as having great leadership upstairs is everything in an organisation.
-
We as a club are collateral damage (lack of better words perhaps considering the situation in Ukraine that many folk find themselves in) of the whole Roman-Putin links/history which we always knew was there. Lets not pretend that after the whole Russian poisoning on Sergei Skripal a few years ago also that any sort of international incident involving Russia was always going to bring dire consequences to Roman and more than likely the club. It sure is going to be interesting to see how this plays out because there is an absolute lot riding on how this sale goes/how it happens etc.

Opinion: Chelsea will still get a quick sale despite sanctions
OneMoSalah replied to James's topic in Chelsea Articles
Is Simon Phillips an idiot? It is now impossible for Roman to sell the club whilst under sanctions unless the government give him a special license in which proves he wont benefit from it financially….. This opinion we will get a quick sale is beyond ridiculous 🤣 -
Thinking about what new owners will want or wont want is a bit premature. There has been no offers and this process will undoubtedly be drawn out due to the asking price not to mention complications if Roman is sanctioned amongst other things. Plus I have a feeling any new potential owners may look at the cycle and success we’ve had the past 20 years and think, maybe it isn’t worth changing too much too soon? Who knows. Still it’s going to be months before anything is done more than likely and I wouldn’t be surprised if Roman is still owner come end of the season.
-
Players cost a specific amount based on their ability though. He didn’t have a 52m release clause for nothing so to not expect more from him and question him taking that price tag into consideration would be wrong. I mean look at Lukaku who is getting the exact same based on his price tag. Which is mentioned every game/week and rightfully so based on his performances.
