  1. I'd say someone who has scored close to 60 goals in 2 seasons in for a team like Altetico is proven. Given the season he played with Falcao he played off him he still scored close to 20 goals as well.
  2. I don't see why we need to have young players as back up players, they don't play every week where in contrast they could be out on loan playing every week for a club, developing, learning, gaining experience. Look at Kalas last year, how many games did he start? He didn't even start against Swindon in the Capital One Cup for god sakes, he started 2 games (Liverpool and Cardiff I think), ironically in the last 4 or 5 matches of the season. He would have benefitted from a season on loan with Ivanovic coming in at CB when we had an injury/suspension. Theres a reason why young players don't make it here, because when we have them in the squad they don't play. McEachran was never going to displace Lampard or Mikel or Ramires or Meireles under AVB on a regular basis, how often were they injured as well? Only Lamps was injured a bit and he was in and out of the team. Kalas was never going to displace Cahill, Terry or Luiz or even Branna if he played at CB. Young players at big clubs are generally better going on loan than sitting in the squad. There are a few exceptions, maybe Marco will be a regular next year but again did anyone expect him to displace Lampard or Ramires or Mikel regularly for Chelsea? Before we signed Matic, we were light in CM so maybe he would have had more of a chance to play but now we've added Fabregas as well as losing Lampard and everyone thinking we should try and sign Pogba or someone to replace Ramires... so how is he meant to get a game? I think Marco will be used as a rotation player next season to be honest but thats because I think we won't sign any more midfield players and Mikel could possibly not feature as much. Zouma definitely needs to go on loan, hes only 19, he needs to play every week to keep improving.
  3. Awesome? They used Carvalho and Abidal there last season and they both renewed their contracts, as well as having young promising players like Borja Gomez, Isimat-Mirin and they also signed Aymen Abdennour permanently, as well as a few other guys as well if I remember rightly. They have too many CBs, theres no point in him going there if he isn't going to play every week.
  4. holy fuck how did i forget WHS....... what a dick I am
  5. or we can just keep beating them everytime we play them anyway? Anyway I'm genuinely surprised they are replacing Suarez with a whole cluster of players, in recent years that hasn't always worked, Arsenal never replaced RVP with a player of his quality, they bought several good but not great players like Podolski, Giroud etc. Spurs never replaced Bale with a player of his quality either, sure it helps to have a squad but they are getting rid of Suarez and signing good players to build up their squad, without actually signing a direct replacement. I mean if we sold Hazard, would yous be happy if we went and bought players like Lambert, Lallana, Emre Can or prefer it we signed someone like Sanchez or James Rodriguez?
  6. Haha I do remember our wee gang, you, me, Spike, Kezza and Cap before he got banned aye. Probably was a few others too.
  7. Vitesse for another year then we should look at maybe getting him loaned to a club in the Bundesliga the next season, could be good for him.
  8. What does it matter if we own shares or can buy them or what not, Jose doesn't think we need him and after him signing players like Matic, Willian, Schurrle, Salah, Fabregas and Costa I trust him judgement. Let him to go Liverpool, hes a young guy still, there will be an adaption period, I mean who even says he would start for Liverpool?
  9. So it looks like someone has already done what I intended to do. Fuck.
  10. I don't see why people see him as a limited footballer? Some aspects of his game are intelligent, look at his movement in the box and his diagonal runs behind defenses, not all wide players have that, in fact not many in the PL who play on the wings make similar movements. Sure his touch, passing and crossing might let him down at some times but he is a player who strikes the ball very well. His hattrick vs Fulham also demonstrated a very clinical side to his game. Hes more than the 'limited footballer' everyone makes him out to be, sure hes not as good a dribbler as Neymar or as good at creating chances like Iniesta is but he has traits that make him more than a limited player.
  11. Attacking midfielders crisis? -Hazard scored more goals/assisted than he did in his first season, took more responsibility, tactically and defensively improved. -Willian played his first season in the PL, finally got going after adapting to the pace and intensity of PL. -Schurrle's first season, 8 or 9 goals, good return for a first season where he had a bit of adapting to do as well. -Salah's first half a season, purely adapting to the PL. The only one who didn't improve from the season before was Oscar, after a very promising first few months. If those 4 keep improving and Oscar gets his head out his arse, starts improving then I doubt we will have a crisis. Sure theres talk of Sanchez going to Arsenal and Markovic to Liverpool but only if we got rid of one of those 5, which I doubt, then we could move for Sanchez (genuine improvement on Willian, Salah and Schurrle on the wings) or James (offensive improvement on Oscar) but I can't see it. The crisis we had was upfront, as we've had ever since we fucking put any faith into Torres coming good really and the lack of a deep lying midfield player to partner Matic but I can see why people are perhaps concerned with Oscars creativity and performances since January and Willian's lack of goals but surely an injury free season to Oscar (and a rest maybe?) as well as a second season for Willian, in a league wheres he's much more used to now after his first season, could give us that. Costa's goalscoring exploits could win us 5 or 6 more points as well as Cesc's creativity and control so who knows, we have to wait and see (and the thing with Cesc is who even says he will play as an 8 and not a 10? We don't know yet).
  12. He played as an attacking midfielder for Barca, not Arsenal... he was ruined used there as he was one of the best deep lying midfield players in Europe at the time.
  13. Spoiled kids? Would you open your eyes are look at why he's said that. Lets be honest, Courtois is a very good keeper, he knows that, he is Belgium and La Liga winners Atletico's number 1 (or was now hes back at Chelsea), he isn't arrogant or spoiled but he knows he is a very good player (he isn't the only player who thinks like this) and is very confident in his own abilities. Sure he wants to start in the goals for Chelsea and so does Cech, hes just saying that it would be unhealthy because the two are good enough to be playing regularly at big clubs, he knows it, Cech knows it, Jose knows it, you know it, I know it and so does everyone else. So why would you run about saying shit like hes a spoiled kid or whatever else.
  14. Why is everyone now saying Willian isn't good enough to start for us? What a load of shite that is and yous all know it. Sure Sanchez would be a great buy but only if one of the players that play in that 3 behind the striker positions leave, hes an upgrade on Willian but he is very very very good as yous all seen at Barca this season and for Chile. Willian is a very good player as well though, he needs to score more maybe but he had a good first season in my eyes after he got used to the PL.
  15. Really find it interesting everyones saying we shouldn't of signed Salah just because Liverpool are getting this guy. If he was really that good we would have used our option to sign him to be honest, a young winger isn't what we need, we need more players who are coming towards their best years to improve the team as well as developing the younger players. I am really excited to see Salah get more minutes and hopefully hit the ground running in the PL after 6 months of adaption and after his performance vs Swansea in particular, also the two games in the champions league against us, there is also a hell of a lot more to come from him. Also cmon we got Salah ahead of Liverpool, we can't just sign everyone Liverpool wants.... Markovic will be a great player but right now, Salah is better and further ahead in his development.
  16. Did he win the tackle? I thought it was Thiago Silva, if not my bad.
  17. What is this after watching him have a good performance for Brazil? You forget all the fouls he had as well, his discipline is something worth considering the amount of needless tackles he tried to make when the ball was already gone and now that City have gone and signed a sitting midfield player maybe it shows that Pellegrini doubts him and Toure together as a pivot??
  18. His positioning for when James slipped in Bacca (I think) to win the penalty was very, very bad though, if he had been in a better starting position, he would have cut it out easily and they wouldn't have conceded a penalty. He had a good game but he always has one or two moments where he gives you a chance to get a opportunity like the game against Croatia, he let Jelavic get in front of him, touch the ball (although it wasn't going in) before Marcelo put the ball in his own net as well. I don't think a great freekick goal can make everyone say he had a 'brilliant game' because the fact they conceded the penalty was partly his fault due to his positioning, although he did have a good game I suppose other than that but wouldn't say brilliant.
  19. Not really. Jose bought him for a reason, he's someone he rates obviously. If he didn't pick up an injury he'd have made more appearances, with the new MF players coming in and him coming back from a major layoff it would maybe make sense for a loan, like maybe an emergency 93 day loan or something to get him games and then take him back (Arsenal did something similar after Ramsey returned from breaking his leg) or maybe a full season depending on which team it is. He was bought as a replacement for Lampard I think, they are both box to box midfielders who can score goals but Marco looks very comfortable in any midfield position as seen in the U21s World Cup before he came here, he was played as a 6 as well as an 8 so if he gets back to fitness and is in the 25 man squad he'll definitely feature even if we sign Tiago.
  20. If he can't start ahead of Sakho, who after seeing him this season in the PL and in the world cup, is one hell of a average defender then we don't need him.
  21. This isn't the first time many football fans will have heard of James. Many people have heard of him and tried to follow his progress since he went to Porto, even the 'casual football fans' as you call them, will have heard of him given Man United had been after him for years and continuously linked to him since about 2009 or whenever. As was said up there, one summer doesn't make an swallow. He is a very talented player but to say hes at a Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar, Suarez level would be a bit premature in my eyes. Hes definitely a world class player in the making though.
  22. We wont sign another central midfield player I'd imagine. Matic holding with Rami on the right side and Cesc on the left side in a 3 man midfield is more than good enough provided Rami picks his form up a bit then that midfield really will have a bit of everything, power and aggression in Matic, creativity, control and goals in Cesc and pace, stamina and goals in Rami provided he gets his head out his arse.
  23. Alonso is a defensive midfielder. Modric, Kroos and Casemiro can play there, Khedira is more of a box to box midfielder.
