His career has gone downhill since his last season here. Thats what he gets for being an arrogant prick. Really really good GK for us before that season as well as for Atletico but lets be honest, we dont miss him. You could argue as well based on how Edens done since going to Madrid and how weve done, that we arent going to miss him either.

Never get overexcited about young talent in Holland during their first season. Dolberg is one that comes to mind in recent times. His record so far is pretty respectable. Got 47 goals in 123 games (Ligue 1, Europa League, League, Dutch Cup etc) which for someone under the age of 23 and plays CF, isnt nowhere near half as bad as youd think, that youd think would excite some people considering his age etc. Hes still only 21 and can improve his goal return yet but he is a good player, just hasnt maintained that momentum he had in his first full season (understandably so as well being a 18 year old CF). If you look all around Europe at CFs his goal returns is better than other modern day young CFs in their first 123 games, better return than guys like Rashfords, Balotelli who were dubbed huge talents, or even later bloomers such as Kane, Dolbergs first 123 games at club level is better IIRC. Its also very close to Agueros first 120 odd games as well. Hard to say somebody whos scored 46 goals in about 130 games is overrated or still not entirely exciting in terms of how much more they can improve. Depay was also a very good talent from Holland just didnt work at United. The amount of talent coming out of the Dutch league is still incredible. Not every players Frenkie de Jong or de Ligt but guys like Depay, Wjinaldum, even Lozano who developed there have all gone onto other clubs and found success or played at a higher level.

PSV Eindhoven* not Ajax. Malen is definitely a talent though and has made his full Netherlands debut I am sure. Has also scored 20 goals in 54 games for PSV in the last 2 seasons. Also at Lyon Depay has probably been playing some of the best football of his career. He looks as if hes matured.

And this is why loaning players can be dangerous. Should of just sold him even at a loss in the summer, everyone knew once Jamee was fit Frank was going to keep him around the squad.
-
Superb choice. Could see even last season his leadership qualities, not a surprise to me at all hes been chosen as vice captain.
-
Unless Kane is injured he will play every game. Think Tammy should of went to play for Nigeria. Hed be their number 1 every international break. But hey let him have a shot at it but if I was Southgate and Kane was fully fit its a no brainer unfortunately for Tammy.
-
2 goals in his last 2 games. If he keeps scoring goals then hes doing what the others arent. We need goals from other players than just Tammy. Doubt he will score much more next few weeks with his record but who knows ?
-
Exactly but Everton and West Brom arent exactly Chelsea or Man United. He, arguably like Kevin de Bruyne here as well, felt entitled that he should be a number 1 option and didnt want to fight for his place. Basically did the same at Man United now when Soljskaer lost faith in him. That for me shows a flaw in his mentality, that he isnt up for competition and thinks of himself being better than some of his team mates. Healthy competition should make players better. Should. At United that last season, he regressed with competition from Rashford and Martial. Will he throw the dummy out at Inter eventually if he doesnt start every week?

A lot of the triggers and passing sequences in our own half look very like how we played under Sarri and also Conte at times. I think the groundwork for Sarri was already there in a way because of how we played out under Conte despite using a different formation and again now for Frank because of how we continued to play out under Sarri. Even times when we play with a back 4, a lot of our football from the goalkicks and getting through teams in our own half is stuff we definitely seen under Sarri. Especially on the right hand side with Azpi, Kante and also Jorginho combining with one or two touch passing.
-
Must admit, that is some finish. Brilliant. Not easy to do either hitting it into the ground.
-
Every manager has favourites lets not kid on as if its something else ir something new. Examples of favourites again: Carlo playing Torres despite horrible performances. Jose playing Oscar every week over Mata basically because he could run faster to press despite playing as a low block counter attacking team most weeks. Villas-Boas playing Meireles, Bosingwa, David Luiz despite shocking performances... etc etc. Frank trusts Mason and Tomori, yes, obviously he has worked with them before. But like with Sarri and Jorginho it hardly means hes picking them unconditionally.
-
Think we got lucky there. That could of been a penalty before that corner, that ironically enough, they get a good chance from far too easily. Abraham possibly needs subbed off, hes been struggling since the goal to get involved.
-
Dont be daft. Do Zouma, Tomori etc pick the team or pick how we set up from set plays? Its a coaching problem. Some teams mix zonal and man marking. If you constantly set up zonal only and expect say 5 or 6 players who are doing standing jumps to constantly win headers against players who have a running jump, then sorry but conceding from corners is on you. A very experienced CB or GK isnt going to change that. The teams clearly doing what Frank wants in terms of setting up the zones but its not working, recurring theme this season, set plays and conceding. Whos fault is that? Id say more than likely Franks because this organisation is his decision. If it were any other manager maybe the finger would be pointed at him. He may be a Chelsea legend as a player but he shouldnt be immune to criticism for obvious things which other managers would get criticised for.
-
Good save from Kepa. Solid wrists there. See Inter are also beating Barca haha. Wow. Ffs. Another set piece. Someone tell me this isnt a coaching fault, how many fucking set pieces we gonna concede before Lamps changes this zonal pish?
-
Judging a player who had double figures for goals (22) and assists (11) last season in a side who finished 2nd for not looking good after like 7 games is ridiculous. Same as people saying Pulisic is obviously not good enough after 7 games cause he hasnt been playing. Pepe is only 24, if he was 27 or 28 I could understand but hes 24 and potentially needs to adapt. Also there is no way Zaha is better than him, he is one of the most overrated players in the PL.
-
Only thing I can think of is the same reason why Sarri didnt start Ruben, Emerson and Callum from the beginning of last season. As people have mentioned already) is what he does without the ball. Tactically understanding his role off the ball, helping the fullback, pressing off the ball. Nothing to do with his ability, people making out hes some second rate player clearly dont know football. He has huge promise, his all round game from an offensibe point of view isnt that bad, he can play killer passes, dribble, score goals etc. He will get a foot in eventually, I think he is just maybe unfortunate Willian has played well since after Leiceister and Mount has done very well since the United game. Whoever said loan him out to learn his trade should do some research. He played in the Bundesliga and CL aged 17/18. Has played over 100 games for Dortmund under managers like Klopp, Tuchel, Favre etc.
-
Reece played at CM for Wigan last season too. Or its 343. Good team regardless dont see the issue. Pulisic is a weird one, get the feeling Lamps doesnt really fancy him as of yet although hes hardly had a chance. Another manager and their would be uproar but still plenty of football to play this season. At least nobody's making a big deal about Callum not starting unlike last season with Sarri. Regardless of the 11, must win. If we didnt lose v Valencia I would of taken a draw but has to be a win.
-
"Is just ok" Have we watched the same games this season? How many times against Brighton did he spray it 30 or 40m to Alonso? His passing range is good.
-
There were a handful of us saying this last year, that he was good enough defensively etc but he got a lot of criticism for the fact some people had no other reasons than he was Sarri's main man and basically the fuckin usual suspect English pundits like Ferdinand, Jenas, Shearer, Phil Neville etc said he didnt defend although if you watch back the last 15 or 20 games of the season you can clearly see him defending, not only that but to a high level too. Not a huge deal has changed under Frank in terms of what he does either without the ball, I just think that if it were any other manager than Sarri, who had basically said Jorginho will play in that position where these moronic pundits claimed Kante had played in the PL, the criticisms wouldnt of been as harsh.
-
Think its too early to say that about Inter after 5 games. But if Inter are still top come gameweek 20 by 5 points or more they will win the league. Conte is very good at making teams hard to beat (except one year here) so if they can get to then and be 5 or 6 points clear and they continue to be hard to beat and concede at the same rate they are now, he will have done an outstanding job. Theres no doubting his managerial ability. It went sour here in the last 6 of 7 months yes but some of our players were also shocking in terms of performances and sometimes attitude (Bakayoko, Morata, Willian, Pedro, Moses, Alonso, Luiz, Courtois, Hazard sometimes looked very poor too) as well as Contes tactical stubbornness. Juventus are still the favourites to win the league purely because they have Ronaldo as well as very experienced top players who are used to winning titles in their ranks. Sarri may not be a serial winner but him and that group, they can bridge the gap with their know how to win important games.
-
He is a very good player yes but I think his passing range is a bit more limited. Although under Pep it will improve but I do really think if he could of chose from Jorgi or Rodri, Jorginho would be his first choice.
-
Just let him go on a free. Logically it might seem stupid but we cant sign replacements in January so selling him then is a bit daft. He finishes the season here, contract runs down leaves on a free and we have plenty time to look for and then sign a replacement in the summer.
-
Another excellent all round performance yesterday. Read the game well, distribution was top notch and again a very authoritive figure on the park. Personally think Barkley could take a thing or two from Jorginho in terms of when to play 1 and 2 touches or when to take more. Imagine if City signed Jorginho last summer and not us. Think in terms of his role in this team and age he is a vital cog going forward for the next however many seasons.
-
Dont get this. Our academys been successful for about 7 years now. Regardless of players making the first team or not. Why do it now and not years ago? Maybe playing the kids now is helping but everyone's known how good our academy is for ages. Just seems very weird. Like an add on to the womans tv thing.
-
Think its down to Frank maybe playing him when hes not fully recovered. Emerson and Rudiger were the same. Unlucky or not he risked them by playing them when they clearly werent 100%. But yeah 9 points from 9 is needed or the pressure will be cranked right up on Frank and Jody because the start hasnt been good enough in terms of results. Pulisic is a weird one. Sort of skillset we need in 1 v 1s to open up space but can barely get in. Very weird.
