  1. I dont know what your meaning here haha?
  2. True but theres an initial adaption period and then theres having a bad half/ two thirds of a season. I mean at the beginning of the season when he was sort of scoring/assisting with more regularity was he fully adapted then? The majority of players seem to adapt much quicker to leagues than they used to back in the day also and between Germany and the PL the leagues are more similar than further away from each other in terms of intensity and physicality than other leagues such as La Liga and Serie A. Still differences but I think someone who is 25 and plays for Germany should be able to deal with playing under big pressures and expectations considering they’re usually always in the favourites for most tournaments or most games they play. Who was the last player we signed that took this long to adapt to the PL? I cant think of many in recent years. Pulisic maybe? But even then when he got in and going you could argue maybe he was held back, particularly after the super cup game as well. There were some who maybe didn’t get a lot of minutes ie. Schurrle, Salah, KdB, Filipe Luis for instance but theres that, then not adapting.
  3. Can see the thinking behind it but Marina will never go for it. Neither will the club. Any player sales this summer will be reinvested into a CF by the looks of it so we will try get the maximum we can for anyone who we want to let go. I mean look at Marco van Ginkel, guys had so many breakdowns during his time here and never been in the squad since that injury he got v Swindon (IIRc). Theres never ever been any mention of a free transfer for him and he’s repeatedly signed new deals to put the club in a position to gain something from him from a sale. So cant see it from a more valuable asset as Ruben is homegrown and we all know that adds more money to his price.
  4. Yeah not buying the Stuttgart comparison thing. He was 19 there, playing for a team that flirted with relegation and mid table, he is now 25 playing at a huge club whilst also being a German international footballer. He should be much more clinical and used to greater pressure and expectations. He has to have a good season next year. End of story.
  5. No. We need a CF regardless of Timo picking it up next season or not. It will be a disaster going into another season without a top number 9. Werner isn’t even a natural number 9, he probably suits playing off the sides or with a number 9 as a focal point. Although thats not an excuse considering his goal return this season and the nature of a lot of his performances. A top CF is a must. We will be better with a full pre season with Tuchel for sure but we still need a CF who can get 15-20 goals minimum every season. Anyone who thinks we can do without one needs to think it through, why have we dropped so many points the last 18 months? Because of a lack of a clinical CF and a poor defence. Tuchel has sorted the backline but it’s clear we need more in attack. Also re Kane, I doubt we will ever get a deal out of Levy. Remember when we tried to buy Modric? Modric was desperate to go but even then Levy was adamant he wouldn't be coming here. United made a bid bigger than Reals for Bale as well but he refused to do business with them also. Negotiations with Spurs will be near impossible for Kane I would imagine. Plus whilst he and Lukaku are both excellent CFs, I do wonder if they would be a better investment than Haaland. Haaland particularly, could be our CF for 10 years. I suppose any of the three would be a huge improvement. Even Aguero on a free also.
  6. We will be trying to close the gap on City next season hopefully with Tuchel so I don’t know re Barkley, you would hope that he has no intentions on keeping a player who does something for maybe 5 or 6 games a season and nothing else when we have a wealth of attacking midfielders at a really good level such as Havertz, Mason, Ziyech. For me I think he and the club has to be ruthless in the summer, that means the likes of Ross, Bakayoko, Drinkwater, Charly Musounda, Baba Rahman, Zappacosta, Batshuayi, Kenedy, Baker etc have to be moved on. I mean how many chances do we have to give Ross and Michy in particular? Also Ruben could fall in that category as he has hardly put up anything worth of note at Fulham and Abraham is also looking likely to be let go. We have a good nucleus now, with two or three really good additions and a full pre season with TT I think we will be a much different animal next season. Letting Ross, Ruben or any of the others named above back into the squad would be going backwards. We already have one of the strongest squads and thats without a top CF, I don’t see them improving it.
  7. A free transfer? Did he not just sign a new £120,000 p/week deal like 1 and a half seasons ago? From a business sense it would be insane/more than understandable if the club wanted a fee for him considering he still has 2 years left. His career has hardly been ended either, he’s had a full year at Fulham almost and done nothing. Even their fans aren’t that impressed. Bit off the cuff now but he will still have a PL career around mid table/top 8 sort of level maybe. Really cant see him being back here likely unless Tuchel gives him a chance and helps him in his development (but it will need to a huge development I would think to save his career here). Bar that half season with Sarri hes never really done much else consistently at Palace or Fulham in terms of deciding or affecting games in an offensive way. Hes played 105 games in the PL, scored 10 goals and assisted 6 times. For a more offensive minded midfielder thats a goal involvement every 6 and a half games. He has also only created 8 big chances. This season alone for Fulham, he has 1 goal, 2 assists and 2 big chances created. In 28 games. Granted Fulham aren’t Man City or Bayern but at the same time for an ever present attacking midfielder to have 1 goal, 2 assists and 2 big chances created at that level. Its woeful. Thats likely why he will never have a career here because at 25, as a more offensive midfielder playing off the front for Fulham, he’s been nowhere near productive enough in affecting games which is a shame because the talent was there. Its not even like nobody is on his wave length he just genuinely isn’t doing it for them. He will end up somewhere else this summer - whether its another loan or sale who knows?
  8. Yeah was gonna say. We should have went after Cavani, even in the January with Frank in charge when we were linked him there was the naysayers saying “he’s old and has struggled with a bad season of injuries”.... Well 12 goals 4 assists in 1527 minutes so a goal involvement every 95 minutes. Just shows sometimes class is permanent. To get 4 goal involvements v Roma, if anyone seen the game, he was outstanding. Imagine they’d started him more often instead of Martial he’d easily be close to 20 goals I would think.
  9. Who says he wants the money they're talking about though for him? One thing is a story about his agents aims or demands and the other is the player. Who would turn down Bayern these days? Not many players tbf. If he remains another season and goes to Bayern then that is an incredible move for him either way. Comes in and is the natural successor to Lewandowski.
  10. Drofgba still scored goals 10 PL goals in his first season. He may have underwhelmed but he still put up better numbers. He scored 16 goals in total but lets forget he scored 16 the next season too. He only ever scored mode than 20 twice.
  11. Never a red card 😂 was a foul though.
  12. Hopefully. But the final is a different proposition than a semi final.
  13. Spursy. What the fuck was that wall 🤣 Probably be a couple more goals yet, PSG are rattled.
  14. If we want 40m we need to play him for him to score some more goals I think. 100% agree. He’d probably have scored at least 5+ goals if he had played the amount of games Timo has I think. Only fault of Tuchel so far for me. Putting that much faith in Timo ahead of him or Giroud who I think would have contributed more than 2 goals and 4 assists in nearly 20 games.
  15. Great goal and been deserved by City. PSG havent started. City keep this up theyll score another goal or two.
  16. Personally if City had Aguero on they’d have scored twice. The Foden chance and Bernardo Silva chance. PSG been better team but again they gave the ball away 2/3 times in poor areas and with City’s press it will happen again.
  17. Not necessarily, would be like saying Pep not plying a CF makes him pragmatic though. It depends on the context and how the team approaches the game hugely. Being pragmatic is more than just selection of players, its about how the team approaches the game. Pep played Javi Martinez as a false 10 at Bayern a certain amount of times, particularly one that stands out was v Dortmund in a 3-0 win. Did that make Pep or Bayern pragmatic? No. Playing a back 3 with wingbacks has both offensive and defensive quality. Look at how they stretch the game, we always have the spare man out wide. Was same with Conte. I agree CHO gives more on the right maybe than James and Azpi offensively but wouldn’t go to say that we were pragmatic v Real. We went for the throat the first half an hour and should have been out of sight. No pragmatism there for me. Also on Jorgi and Kante both are not purely defensive midfielders, yes Kante isnt Kevin de Bruyne but he does contribute in the other half for sure. The amount of dribbles and break aways he does for this team is huge, but no one mentions it. Its only tackles or giving the ball away. Mateo Kovacic carries the ball well also up the pitch which is hardly a defensive action. I am not expecting them to turn into Messi and set up 3 goals in a game or whatever but there are attacking players and two wingbacks who should be trying to arrive and make the difference in the final third at times. Maybe Pochettino’s line up is more offensive than Tuchel’s on paper but you have to remember, PSG scored 337 goals under Tuchel. That was in 127 games that is 2.65 goals per game on average. If we had a fit and firing CF and Werner wasnt scared of scoring we would have at least another 7-10 goals under Tuchel at least. This team is unfortunately short in some areas.
  18. Yes he might of got a lot against the smaller teams but hows that an issue? A lot of Fabregas’ asissts for us were against smaller teams also but it helped because more or less he was a flat track bully for us and we needed to break down teams that sat behind the ball. But we needed that. He did some things in bigger games also but we have dropped more points v smaller teams than big teams with Tuchel. Theres more games v smaller teams than bigger teams so I dont see the point really, plus Lukaku is also more clinical than you give him credit for and has scored in big games. He would have scored the chances we made last night. And Italy a piss poor league? Please, it is much stronger than people claim. Ronaldo has scored less in Italy than he did per season for Madrid. Italian league is one of the toughest leagues for CFs to score because its so tactical and defensive. I believe that if you can score goals in Italy you can score anywhere. You mention Salah he is the prime example.
  19. Name sounds familiar, sure there was talk of Arsenal looking at him last summer but whether it was just talk or not nothing materialised. I suppose it is a risk but I like what I have seen from Andre Silva. I think for the right club he would be a bargain, he looks like hes going to continue to get better unfortunately it will probably be the likes of a Dortmund who sign him as he suits their model it they lose Haaland or an Atletico maybe.
  20. Have to disagree with this completely. Conte has shown what a little bit of coaching can do to a player like Lukaku. He’s one of the best CFs in the world. He was a top PL CF also at United, the goals dont lie. Yes he wasnt as complete a player but United lack a 15-20 goals a season number 9 and he was that. I think people forget that he scored 42 goals in 94 games. As well as 87 goals in 166 games for Everton. Yep 100% agree. Lets see next season how he does. He doesn’t strike me as an impact sub either.
  21. I knew someone would throw the Werner comparison in or Luka Jovic but they’re all different players Silvs is more of a proper number 9 than Werner. Hes also had the big move that didn’t work out at Milan (like Jovic at Real) and by sounds of it has rebuilt his career very well. Much more of a lowkey signing but wouldn’t say he’s a massive risk, 42 goals in 68 games in Germany and Spain for teams that werent the top top teams either in Frankfurt and Seville also is impressive all things considering. Werner’s goals came in a team everyones expected to be up the top end and fighting for CL, Frankfurt are well Frankfurt some seasons they do well and overachieve some they dont do well. I think someone else will get him in all fairness, (Dortmund maybe if they sell Haaland? Just seems their style of buy). I don’t think we are bold enough to move for him, or that after the Werner situation that we will be in a hurry to sign another attacker from Germany anytime soon. I do think whoever signs him and if for a fee of that or less, may have stumbled onto a very good deal. He reminds me of Morata slightly but a bit different, bit more physical a bit stronger, good in the air, good finisher and links up well.
  22. Mainz and Dortmund was the only time that one of his teams have played this gunho football your expecting but also his first two teams as a coach. At Mainz they were very much in the mould which Dortmund were but of a lower quality with the same defensive instability, conceding a lot of goals. Its clear hes wanted his teams to tighten up, the structure is better here and was better at Paris, hes clearly evolved as a manager but this notion that he is playing pragmatic football baffles me. We don’t sit with 11 men behind the ball grinding teams down. We press, win the ball back, are the team that is looking to make things happen with the ball. If we took 2/3 chances last night you wouldn’t be complaining or saying about being pragmatic. Or if we were more productive in the final third in several games with him. It was a European away game as well, that way we played is the best way to be I would say in these sort of ties, we didn’t go and open ourselves up a lot and we were very solid in top of having the best chances. Honestly what more do you want? Swear your complaining for the sakes of it. I remember that PSG game, Neymar missed about 3 sitters and again PSG dominated the ball. Hardly defensive, just because they didnt score the two goals to the 90th minute. Honestly do some research instead of plastering wild accusations based on a line up 😂 If you seen the game or the highlights you’ll see PSG did more or less everything but score until they did score in the 90th min & stoppage time. And only like 2 offensive players? I swear your over exaggerating and its only succeeding in making you look daft. I will make a prediction now. With the right signings in the summer, I think we will be the closest team to challenge Man City next season.
  23. I would take a bet on Andre Silva. We were linked when he was at Sevilla, he’s kept improving and now has 42 goals in his last 68 games over the last 3 years. Maybe not the biggest name but certainly an improvement on what we have. Maybe not even a top top CF but someone who has quality that would be an improvement for sure. Apparently Dortmund, United, Atletico, Arsenal, Barca all linked with him for £35 million.
  24. I hope your not referring to Werner being top class in that first comment. Because he is near hopeless.
  25. At the end of the day, Tuchel has to watch because if he continues to count on him and he keeps missing or scoring once every 15 games, ultimately it will be the managers head on the block if it leads to a down spiral in results/games not being won. Not at that point yet but more big chances missed that would have swung this tie from just over 50% with the away goal to 75-80% in our favour IMO.
