If we get an equaliser we are going to break them. Cmon boys... Holy fuck what a save. That was the chance

Second half has been very bad. The first half wasn’t amazing but typical cup final half. Havertz and Hudson-Odoi now last roll of the dice. Still 15 minutes and we have got Hudson Odoi, Havertz, Werner, Mount, Pulisic all on so we have to be better now. Great play Kante.

Its an absolute top top hit, the speed of the ball and aye its not right in the postage stage but its about as close to the top corner as most of those sort of strikes usually are. Not as if its like a yard or two either side of the centre or the goal. Really going to have to agree to disagree, honestly wouldn’t of mattered who was in the net, nobody was saving that. Can’t believe its even a consideration but suppose its another reason now for people to hammer Tuchel for team selection after the game.
-
Mendy would of saved it? Really? Some of you are on one 😂 Could have put 2 GKs in the one goal and they probably weren’t saving that.
-
That is an unbelievable goal. Wow. James poor pass to start with. Kante doesn’t get back in and nobody closes the ball. Nobody saving that 😂
-
Need to step it up. Dropped off and Leicester have stepped up.

Nothing worse than someone who is thinking impartiality due to a personal relationship with said person, getting above their station over social media, when they probably have no interest in football other than the fact her man is a footballer... should stick to doing what 3/4s of these young footballers GFs do, stick to posting photos in bikinis and of the expensive shoes/clothing you clearly didn’t work for 😂 football 100% isnt their forte.

First half hasn’t been great but the folk posting train wreck/disaster/whatever else need to take a day off 😂 All finals are cagey games, there havent been any clear cut chances, quite frankly I think Leicester have been worse than us going forward bar that Tielemans pass for Vardy which Reece is in a great position to cover. Didnt expect much else really. Personally thought Leicester would be better. A goal in that first half would of been perfect for us.
-
Evans off. Albrighton on? They going to play a back 4? Or put a wingback in their back 3? Either way its an advantage for us. Evans is the glue in that backline.
-
Should have got that in the net. Playing well so far. More intensity than Arsenal game for sure.
-
Benfica return? To join Vertonghen and Otamendi? Golden oldies reunion 😂

Tbf the corner stats are difficult to gauge the accuracy from because whilst it indicates poor balls in it also indicates our weakness in attacking corners, which have been horrific for years lets be fair. Even under Sarri who was apparently someone who had devised multiple different corner kick routines that worked well at Napoli. It didn’t work out that way here. Bar Zouma, Giroud and maybe Rudiger we lack players who attack the ball well also I think. Maybe you can throw Alonso, Christensen or Silva in there at a push, particularly Christensen - he has won a lot of headers from offensive corners since returning from Mochengladbach but quite frankly is horrendous at putting them on target/in. I mean I don’t think he has scored a goal for us yet and hes had some big free headers in seasons gone by. He scored 7 goals in 2 for Mochengladbach so obviously they’ve probably came from corners/free kicks due to his position and you can see he can win them at times in either box but I tend to remember hes had a few over the seasons that hes failed to put on target that you would expect him to do so. Thats why players like Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Drogba, Alex were huge bonuses from set pieces because they’d probably each get between 3-5 goals over the course of a season from them. Obviously the delivery was better also when you consider some of the guys putting them in but I think having guys like Pulisic, Werner, Ziyech, Jorginho, Kante, we are never going to be that prolific from corners anyway because 75% of the teams in the PL are considerably bigger. I suppose this is fine if the games going well and your getting results but also frustrating because set plays can decide games as we’ve seen over the past and also last season the amount of set play goals we conceded was shambolic. Marcos Alonso and Giroud don’t play regularly and neither does Zouma really so either way, taking corners if the ball is good or not, the likelihood of scoring from them is incredibly slim because we don’t make the first or second contact enough due to the difference in size/players who are strong at attacking the ball. Although Zouma has got a fair few this season from them, which also highlights his strength in the opposition box. There has been a lot of poor deliveries that don’t clear the first man or the Gk claims but it also probably doesn’t tell the whole story.

Aye it seems any loss is a crisis. Im not surprised though, we lose the cup v Leicester there will be folk calling for Tuchel to get sacked next 😂
-
Na disagree. A top number 9, another midfielder and a CB and we will be right up there I would think. Our problems been conversion a lot of the time with Tuchel, was same with Frank first season for a period and same with Sarri also. We are getting chances be it big ones or half chances, obviously you can always make more but if we had beat Arsenal on Wednesday it wouldnt be an issue.... good teams be it City or Liverpool or whatever, the first requirements to win a league is keeping clean sheets. Its a good basis to start with.
-
Totally agree with the post. I cant believe anyone is coming out with such shite as we have regressed in attack after 1 game v Arsenal... where we have played 2/3 games where we probably have looked more dangerous than we have all season. Just baffling. But suppose people will complain. If it was as bad as people thought it would have been a concern months ago. But we’ve been getting results and keeping clean sheets... Honestly, where was this complaint before the Arsenal game? It wasn’t a complaint or an issue. Just overreacting again as most people’s reactions have been since that game.... if Werner and Havertz hadn’t missed their big chances with Tuchel it wouldn’t be an issue and only bringing it up now after a 1-0 loss is daft where realistically we didnt create an amazing amount of chances but still should of won the game. This shows exactly why sometimes football fans are fickle and react in the heat of the moment. There has been a clear improvement and the games v Real and City in particular were big signs that our attack has improved significantly. But whatever.
-
Regressed in attack? Wow. What.... Our attack has probably been progressively getting better the last month or so although still we have a huge number of 1 goal wins under Tuchel. Honestly we weren’t hugely churning out a lot of chances in the beginning with Tuchel, understandably with the lack of time to train the team as often with games every 3 days more or less since he came in. Plus inconsistencies from players also dont help but the way your saying we have regressed as if we were Barcelona or someone back in the day who could easily score 4 or 5 goals every game... The Real Madrid game was our best in attack in terms of big chances created with TT. It was 9 days ago. Where have you got this regressed idea from? One loss v Arsenal where we still had a few chances to win the game? There is a reason, unfortunately, that under Tuchel we have only scored 34 goals in 26 games. And it isnt due to us being ineffective or regressing in attack because realising this last month or so is when we have probably seen our best or most effective attacking play. Teams can have a bad game. I think everyone is still shitting the bed and overreacting overt the defeat on Wednesday. Things such as we aren’t getting top 4 to now our attack has regressed? Honestly...

Honestly I hope not. But even then I think if we lose the cup final then it still means we make the CL realistically as it will be used as sufficient motivation on the following game and I would think it will be hammered home by Tuchel what is to be expected. Even then I still think we will win the FA cup. Leicester are a good team but they’ve shown they don’t have the bottle this season and last season in the run in dropping points, so don’t write that off yet either. In their last 11 league games theyve only won 5, drawing 2 and losing 4 v Arsenal, City, West Ham, Newcastle IIRC. With United being the only decent team they’ve beaten in that run also. I think people are easily throwing away what we have did from when TT came in/what we can still do based on 2 poor results. Some of the reactions yesterday were hysterically over the top. Like Arsenal TV style reactions. Its still in our hands. Lets be clear, regardless of the results, the game v Leicester next week is huge. Always has been. Win there and win v Villa and it will be enough. 100%.
-
What I dont get as well is people expected us to drop points at City, then we won. So dropping points at Arsenal despite the frustration realistically is the points people expected us to drop at City. We win the next 2 league games it will all be good.
-
Wouldn't panic yet. Both teams may have nothing to play for but not as if anything definitive was decided tonight. Plus I would say Leiceste have a bigger chance of missing out than us if we beat them next week.
-
Wasnt there talk of Tuchel wanting him at PSG? I certainly hope not as he has been awful ever since we signed him and giving him a life line would be a mistake. Sell at all costs. Even for 5m. Just sell him.
-
I love the lack of trust in Kepa despite him having done nothing wrong under Tuchel this season 😂 same people who were probably slaughtering him for Jorginho’s pass yesterday... I would start Mendy though for sure but if Kepa starts, he starts. Would imagine it would be likely anyway as he’s the cup GK. Although then I don’t know why he didnt start Mendy v Arsenal.
-
And even then for the goal, he could of just hooked it up the line beforehand if there were no viable options on for him. Rudiger does this alot if nothing is on and its better than passing to someone who is 1 or 2 yards away from someone at times because it gets the team 10-20 yards up the pitch to press. Its not just the technical side of it, its analysing whats around and seeing that Jorginho was also instantly going to be under immediate pressure upon receiving the pass. Doesnt take away from Jorginho’s awful pass but also shows Zouma’s lack/limited intelligence as a footballer in a side that plays this way. Even then Gilmour and Chilwell were open before and if push comes to shove then so was Kepa. Playing square passes across your defence under pressure is dangerous.
-
His poor choice on the ball last night also leads to the goal happening, had 2 options, Chilwell and Gilmour, ultimately he shat the bed and picked neither as it required him using his left foot. And then Jorginho also does a stinker of a pass too but a more comfortable player on the ball ie Rudi plays to Chilwell or Mount. Like Zouma didn’t.
-
Have to disagree. He probably was never good enough to be a regular here. Harsh but really he had what one good standout season at Southampton and has been well, consistent but hardly as if anyones ever thought we made a mistake so it was the right call.
-
It seems that way. Not one person will care if we win both the CL and FA cup, even if we were sitting 10th. But two losses (WBA & tonight) when we are still pretty much in control of our own destiny and everyone loses their mind and starts thinking the “safe option” of regularly finishing top 4 is better than winning a European cup by the looks of it. Top clubs celebrate trophy wins not finishing 4th place I thought? Obviously still think we will manage the top 4 but if we miss out and win the CL it makes no difference anyway. As Jason said, we aren’t Arsenal. Being satisfied with 4th place is settling for a near nothing achievement now a days for a club like us. Go have a look at Arsenal over the years as an example of what making top 4 or top 6 finishes as a major achievement gets you. Or Tottenham. Personally, Id rather see us win the CL and FA cup than lose both and finish 4th because its a massive achievement to win any sort of major double, especially one including the CL. Plus these younger or newer players with a few trophy wins its just the beginning, the Havertz, James, Mounts, Chilwells, Gilmours, Pulisics, Werners etc if they get a taste for winning the big trophies, it only aids their development and pushes this group on even more. Everyone in the media always says Man United need to win a trophy under Ole but this group here need it. 100%. Thats why not winning the FA cup or Super Cup last season was huge. It was the same with City winning that FA Cup and then their first PL then Pellegrini came in and then Pep but they’ve never really stopped winning in the last 10 years. This group has been refreshed and need the taste for it. I still refuse to believe we’ve sacked the season off for 2 cup finals or underestimated anyone.... That starting 11 was more than good enough to beat Arsenal and probably compete v most teams we play. He said he wasn’t happy and what not but that team was good enough to win and with the chances we had still should have won. Why does the contract length matter? Or no CL for that matter if it comes to it? Look at what no CL did for Antonio Conte in his first season. We aren’t going to sack someone who got us from 8/9th to in the running for the top 4 as well as 2 cup finals. Not only that but showing obvious huge signs of improvement, who wants to be a title contender next season. Plus he has an option for an additional year on his deal. And there were rumours that the the club apparently want to discuss new terms with him prior to the Madrid second leg. So aye, one loss v Arsenal wont change that.
