  1. Thing is now lets say this super league goes ahead, teams leave domestic leagues, dont play world cups or euro tournaments, whats to stop other teams breaking away and forming other leagues in the future also? People dont seem to understand the magnitude of it. Its going to rip football apart.
  2. I think they should take us Real and City out and put the likes of Porto through, Dortmund through and make Leipzig/Atalanta play and put one of them through as they played against Liverpool and Madrid. It would send a message. People may think is a bit ridiculous but they have to send a message. There are also rumours we and City are looking at a way out if it already, due to the backlash from all the governing bodies and fans etc but honestly, thats even worse than joining it in the first place due to fear of missing out/being left behind. Knowing it wasn’t the right thing to do by the fans and jumping in to it with reservations is an absolute embarrassment and everyone one of them should be sacked.
  3. Very cautious comments from Tuchel regarding the ESL. Suppose he cant say too much as he’s only a manager but I think there will be people who speak out about it, following Hasenhuttl and there will be others at the 14 clubs outside of the top 6 who will. I think these guys should be giving their opinion on it though, they should give their honest opinion on it. As should the players.
  4. Of course they are because they think that they can just solve this problem with money. They are so naive it is unbelievable.
  5. Just out whoever said this. No point in hiding their identity. Oh person X Y or Z said the clubs think this... also the board members who felt powerless? Isn’t it not their job to protect the clubs best interests? If they felt it wasnt within their best interests why did they not make themselves heard or oppose it? What a bunch of spineless cunts. From our board to the 11 others and particularly the ones who felt as if it was a bad idea. Just sums up modern day football. Wanting players to be banned from playing internationals? What a shambles. If this is the route it goes you can bet there will be lots of folk wanting out of their contracts. I hope UEFA and FIFA are strong on this. What’s the point in sport if it isn’t competitive? 12 clubs who cannot be relegated from a league? Or even if they get beat every game cannot be replaced? Glorified exhibition games.
  6. Ah well. If it happens, what a great way for City, us and Real to say fuck you to the players and their efforts this season basically... may as well stop playing the remaining games as they wont account for anything next season.
  7. All points I agree with but again regarding walking away, if hes on X,Y or Z a year hes never going to. Was same here both times too. I suppose taking only 2 points v Newcastle, United and Everton isn’t particularly impressive and theyve not been great but if they wanted to salvage their season they should of done it sooner. Just find the timing really odd. Having no manager in place prior to a cup final is baffling. I know we won a CL and FA cup with Di Matteo who was basically a novice as a PL manager but there are exceptional circumstances and once in a lifetime moments.
  8. True but Spurs haven't won a trophy since what 2008? Why sack the manager who got you there a week before, even more so considering Kane is likely to miss out and put a 29 year old with 0 managerial experience in his place? Its may have just papered over the obvious cracks as you’ve said but the logic behind it is frighteningly off. Mourinho may be passed his best but if you had the choice of him managing a team in a cup final or an absolute novice, surely it would make sense to stick with him? This is why I think the rumours re the super league makes more sense. Maybe not but I dont see why Spurs would do it when there are maybe 4-5 weeks left of the season. After yesterdays announcement too from all the clubs, the timing is odd.
  9. They’re saying its results based. But they’re a week off a cup final and haven’t won a trophy in years? And if it was results based why not pull the trigger much earlier? Makes no sense.
  10. Apparently refused to hold training due to Spurs involvement with the super league. Apparently Spur’s have said it was result based but if that was the case why did they not sack him a while ago? They were also a week away from a cup final.. 100% more likely to do with super league for me. Will he be the first of many? Looking forward to his statement as this will clear it up you would imagine.
  11. I wish people would stop saying we are joining because of fear of missing out as if it means anything. Or makes it any better. We still joined it. Bayern and Dortmund said no. PSG said no. Club had the chance to set a precedent as one of Europe’s leading clubs and we didnt. Nor did United, Arsenal and Liverpool who’s history is a huge part of English football. Mourinho apparently lost his job today because he refused to train the players because of Spurs decision to join the super league.
  12. Wouldn’t be worrying about transfers for now. We have no idea what is going to happen and the next few weeks indefinitely, nobody will be talking or thinking about transfers. Also if this league goes ahead and these teams do break off, isn’t it not just going to make clubs demand more money to sell to these teams for players, further inflating the transfer market? To offset the potential losses they will make by teams leaving these leagues? And really? A salary cap in a 4.3 billion pound super league? Now thats ironic.
  13. Apparently UEFA are going to sue every club involved in this league for €60 billion? So is this €5 billion from each of the 12 clubs? Or €60 billion per club? Either way. Wow. Will see how many people think its a good idea when clubs worth 2-5 billion are hit with either 5 or 60 billion euro lawsuits.
  14. Its ok it might come in useful now in this clusterfuck of a super league....
  15. Actually a very valid point. Throws the players and managers mind off the task at hand. And the media will definitely flood the prematch conferences with it too more so than the matches or what they mean.
  16. But basically its also severely reducing the chances of other teams reducing the gap and further more, removing the competitive edge throughout the whole sport outside of these 12-20 clubs who will participate essentially. And then if the domestic leagues buckle, (lets hope not), there will very likely be no great upsets/underdog achievements like Leicester winning the league with Claudio. Or Monaco winning it with Jardim. Or Wolfsburg in 08-09. Things that make football what it is, or will soon no longer be, completely unpredictable.
  17. I think they have to take a stand. As do all the domestic leagues. To protect their domestic leagues from the very bottom tier to the top. Its not a matter of kicking them out straight away but if they want to remain, they need written permission to play in the Super League on top of everything else from the FA as stated in the PL rules they’ve all agreed to. They just dont have to give them it which they aren’t so then its basically play 50-60 games a season as you normally would or join a super league for money and play only say 15-20 games a season potentially. Its certainly going to affect some of them. I dont think they exactly asked the managers or players when agreeing to join this league. It will be interesting. But if FIFA takes the same stance, like UEFA and the domestic leagues football associations, does it not make the clubs more liable? Meaning players could then sue clubs for not consulting them about something which would affect them playing internationally prior to agreeing to it?
  18. Well there will be no PL as they’ve just said all clubs who play in it wont be allowed to play PL so basically its to replace the PL and CL.
  19. Embarrassing. Clubs feeling bullied into this is all well and good but cmon this is us and Man City, two absolutely huge organisations. Anyone celebrating our inclusion in this is an absolute fuckwit as well by the way, honestly. There are numerous clubs across each and every country which will suffer by this. It may seem like an exciting proposition, a European super league but the only thing super about it is how super fucking moronic every club who’s signed up to it now look especially after numerous fan groups have severely opposed it. As have UEFA and the PL and various other footballing associations. I have read Leipzig have been asked and Bayern rejected it but Hasan Salihamidzic is trying to convince them. I really hope they dont. And PSG. It would send a message. The fact us and City felt the need to fear being left behind is embarrassing too. Every club who’s signed up to that has sold out for a pay day. People are also forgetting what are players and managers going to think? Its not going to be as easy as everyone in those 12 squads falls in line also or agrees with the idea.
  20. Yep. The clubs involved, us included, should be embarrassed. I cant wait to see what UEFA and FA do now. Fair play to Bayern, Dortmund, PSG, etc who have opposed this and aren’t joining. Who’d have thought PSG would of said no to that sort of money especially after the fuss theyve had with FFP in the past, this just shows, even they’ve got a soul by the looks of it.
  21. Maybe, maybe not. Either way he has 18 goals for PSG this season and he cost Everton £25m almost 2 seasons ago when he signed a 5 year deal. Plus Ancelotti also recently said he has a future at Everton basically so realistically I can see why that figure would be about right, the circumstances are different from Tammy’s who is not playing, has 2 seasons left on his deal and has no clear immediate future at the club with contract talks seemingly off the table/not happening...
  22. Well if the club decides to go they wont be able to undo it and I would hope the PL keeps a strong stance and in the future, if it goes ahead, doesn’t buckle if this super league goes to shit and invite clubs back in. The repercussions it will have across every league from the top divisions to the bottom divisions are absolutely massive. People are worried about their club but look at the whole football league pyramid across various countries, it will all go to shit, but some people wont care to see games against the top teams from other leagues.... And EPL manipulating results? You sound like a crazed conspiracy theorist. Absolute nonsense. EPL and UEFA will not go bust, these are self sustaining organisations worth unfathomable amounts of money but this moves will set them back significantly in terms of structuring and governing the whole domestic football pyramid/pyramids in various countries who will participate. Leagues in Spain, Italy, etc also will be severely affected. Plus you’ve got the fans who the majority of us are working class people who owning a season ticket or going to games at the Bridge or various away grounds, its not going to be any cheaper, in a time where football is already expensive, to have to fly to Spain or Italy every 2nd/3rd/4th week to go cheer your team on to see an extremely glorified exhibition game basically. I see the appeal for people to see these big teams but isn’t that what the CL is for? The whole concept is an absolute abomination. Its an absolute money grab and for me it spits in the face of every football fan across the globe who has shelled out to go watch their team or invested in a season ticket etc. It’s embarrassing. I mean you telling me that a league funded by an American bank who are meant to be willing to pledge £5 billion into it is purely for the fans? Get real. I also tend to find myself agreeing with Gary Neville, any club who’s signed that document they should be fined heavily at the very least and look into other sanctions (points off, strip titles off, whatever) to send a very very strong message. The CL could do with some changes, particularly as teams who win titles in Scotland, Holland, Austria wherever else have to go through various rounds of qualification to get into it half the time but this stepping away for a new league is an absolute disaster.
  23. I think Tammy, Tomori and Ruben can get us 30m each. Barkley wont get as much but any profit on the 15m we signed him for why not. He isnt good enough.
  24. Unfortunately top clubs have to deal with this. We have got a big squad, which many would consider as arguably the second best in the PL, so I think we will manage.
  25. Why does anyone want to join a European Super League? Never mind Spurs? Why do we want to join it? Or United or Juventus or anyone else? It shows a complete disregard for the fans and also the history of various domestic leagues. What a joke. The PL and UEFA’s stance is absolutely right and I can’t believe you don’t see why they have taken this stance and got involved. If clubs want to play it they shouldn’t be part of their domestic leagues or the CL, it is as simple as that. It would ruin football, its not through UEFA its some big shot American bank who wants to do it. All it is, is just sheer greed and the clubs should be told well if you go down that path your on your own. And they should be ashamed. Its basically selling out. I am actually embarrassed that we seem to have agreed to be part of it. Who the fuck made that decision? I know covids hit clubs hard and it was obvious they would propose it as this is when clubs are perhaps more vulnerable financially but I didn’t think they’d be willing to completely sell out more or less
