I would certainly hope that even if we don't announce the signing before the World Cup that we'd at least have everything signed and sealed behind the scenes. Just sign he and Costa and then let them focus on the tournament. The last thing we need is for these clubs who aren't currently interested to jump back in if he lights it up in Brazil.

To be fair, Torres was at his world class best when Stevie G was feeding him from deeper in midfield. Cesc is just as good, if not better at that so maybe if Torres stays he can be an effective player again. We all know that these days Torres needs the ball served up on a silver platter in order to put a chance away.

I think he does but as the furthest advanced player in a 3 instead of in a 2. Pack the midfield in big games with Cesc, Matic, and Ramires. Against smaller or weaker sides who sit deep and defend we can play Cesc with Matic or still play a midfield 3 with Oscar, Cesc, and Matic. I'm just setting myself up for a huge letdown here if we don't sign him.

I kind of disagree with this. I fully expect Oscar to step up big time next season in his statistical output and Hazard will go to the next level with a natural, top class LB on his side of the pitch. I think we're going to be scoring loads next season and not grinding out narrow 1-0 or 2-0 results.A new CM is imperative though.

Song isn't in Fabregas's class. I think he'll have much more space than people think he will and will be able to pull the strings just like we'd need him to. He'll have other players around him to pick up some of the slack, but I think he'd be able to adapt well to Jose's system.We saw in games where Oscar dropped deeper that he had forever to dribble with the ball and stroke it around. Having a more accomplished passer in there will help loads.

I'd certainly have Pogba or Vidal over Cesc but I'd have Fabregas over Kroos and it's a toss up in my eyes between him and Koke. I'd be delighted with any of them to be fair. Fabregas just seems like the smartest business out of all of them bar Kroos. Not often a world class player comes on to the market at £30m. Pogba, Vidal, and Koke would cost nearly double that in all likelihood. Imagine getting two world class players in Costa and Fabregas for a combined ~60m after selling Luiz for 50m. Terrific business. Then get Luis for 18m and we have the best XI in the country and top 3 in the world.

C'mon, Chelsea....while we're there doing Costa's medical we may as well do Fabregas's too.
