Spot on.That's a trade up if ever I've seen one. They can have fun with Luiz, we get a top class striker, and we fund their move for Di Maria stopping the likes of United signing him. Shit, if we sign Cavani maybe the board will just cut their losses and allow Torres to walk on a free making it easy to get rid of him.
-
So with Mourinho saying yesterday that he liked the look of Torres out wide and that he may indeed use a formation with 2 strikers sometimes this season, maybe targeting Cavani makes a bit of sense. He's very versatile, works tirelessly, and scores loads. Still not buying that we're interested yet and we don't especially need him, but I wouldn't say no.

Matic want ball. Matic get ball. He's like the fucking Terminator. Seek and destroy. And not only is he a physical monster who seems to win nearly every tackle, he can play the perfect through ball or lob over the top of the defense with the touch of a deep lying playmaker.
-
I'd be surprised if he played.
-
In 2-3 years time when the big clubs have poached Barkley, Lukaku, Stones, Coleman, McCarthy, and Roberto Martinez is managing Barca let's see how smug this Everton fan is.
-
Hope you're right.Di Maria, please!
-
True.Doesn't even have to be a striker. Why not throw this money at Real Madrid and negotiate for Di Maria? £28m would pay for almost all of Vidal.
-
Hopefully José continues his "one in, one out" policy here.
-
Well that certainly came out of nowhere, didn't it? Happy for the Saints after what they've been through. They get a good player.
-
Whilst we're all happy with the fee right now, it's almost cancelled out by these 3 things: 1) Torres stays 2) He could very well take points off of us this season 3) If he has a great couple of seasons there one of our rivals like United or City could buy him The one thing that can make up for these things is if we make one last big name signing.
-
Okay, I'll admit it. £28m for a player who never scored an important goal for us is fucking mad.
-
Looks like a marauding demon when he's running with the ball in open space. Me likey.
-
I definitely preferred seeing Cesc deeper where he has the ball more and can be more influential. But my god, how good is Matic!? Defending could definitely be better.
-
Matic is fucking ridiculously good. Our pressing and closing down of the ball were immense. The only slightly concerning thing was how susceptible we looked to the counter attack. Went to sleep on a few through balls and could easily have been punished once or twice that half.
-
Maybe we'll luck out and Chelsea TV will have this one up for free like they did a couple of matches ago. Doubt it.
-
Good to see Salah get all these starts and lots of minutes so he can get in rhythm now rather than take a few weeks of the season to get up to speed.
-
Luke Shaw who's barely done anything and plays LB goes for £30m but a match winning striker who's scored over 30 goals in the last two seasons goes for £24m. Feels cheap. Can't help but feel we could've got way more for him somewhere else but we probably did a Mata and let him go where he wanted to go.
-
Unless we've milked them for £30m then this is pretty fucking stupid of us. I don't even particularly like Lukaku and his piss poor attitude, but it's annoying to see him go to another English club.
-
Are we really going to do the again? Send a young striker with massive potential to another Premier League club. To one of our bogey sides at that. Just not a good idea at all. I have no issue selling him but only if it's abroad. Imagine Everton taking 3-6 points off of us next season with him scoring. After the league came down to the wire last year and with the clubs at the top all improving those points could be absolutely vital. Sturridge to Liverpool, Mata to United, and now Lukaku to Everton. We're arming so many sides around us and it doesn't really sit right with me.
-
It has since come out that it wasn't failed medical but rather he couldn't agree personal terms with them. They probably offered him peanuts and expected him to jump at the chance to join "the biggest club in England" as they view themselves. I'd have him as a second option for sure should Lukaku leave.
-
Agreed. I think they'll be genuine contenders this season and it wouldn't surprise me at all if they look like the best team in the league for a large portion of the year. Their fragile mentality and naive approach to the big games will be their undoing once more, though in my eyes.If they were to add a seriously top quality DM and striker I think the league would be a toss up between ourselves, City, and Arsenal.
