For better or worse, what Poch has been able to build there would never have been possible here over the past few years. You're right, it is impressive but you have to look at how it's possible. A club like Spuds have no title ambitions and even finishing ourtside of the top 4 is acceptable there. Without those requirements a manager is able to bring through youth at will and take huge risks that we haven't been able to. He's able to work for a couple of years to implement a system and take his lumps if there's turbulence. Would our supporters or our owner put up with a few years of high midtable finishes under a new manager?

While Pochettino deserves credit, the primary reason they are where they are is because ourselves and United have been so shit this season. I wouldn't mind a manager like him here under normal circumstances but I kind of think we do need a star "name" to compete with the Manchester clubs and Arsenal next season and beyond. Top players may have their choice between all of the top clubs in England. Why choose Chelsea if they're being pitched and recruited by Guardiola and Mourinho? With a big name like Simeone we'd have a shot at some of the same players. Not sure we would under a "lesser" name.

One of, if not the saddest part of this situation is that it'll make it seem like he's been desperate for years to take the United job as rumors have suggested since SAF left. That he only came back to Chelsea because he had no real alternatives. My one and only last hope is that the higher-ups at United decide he's not worth the inevitable trouble and go for someone else like Pochettino. He's my all time favorite manager and favorite football personality but if he goes there and waxes poetic about it being his dream job and how he wants to retire there, etc. my love for him will cease. Like I and others here have mentioned, a Pep led City and Mourinho led United will be able to attract and sign the absolute best players in world football. We risk losing some of our best players and may struggle to attract top talent. It honestly feels like we won't even be able to compete with them for a while. Now we've even fallen behind the likes of Arsenal and fucking Spurs! We won the bloody league last season! Feels surreal thinking about where we are now.

He can "want to" all he likes. They'd still have to spend £50m to get him back. If we steal their manager, however, I highly doubt he'd want to leave. It's extremely difficult to find a top class striker these days, much less pay the necessary fee to buy them. No chance will the club allow him to go. Not without bleeding a club dry. If we sold players that weren't even getting games for us for insane amounts I can only imagine what it would take for us to sell the focal point of our team. Not happening.

He's the kind of player we need to play with Diego Costa, not in place of him. Simeone should be our new manager and Griezmann his priority target along with Stones.
-
Like, why the fuck would we sign someone who isn't even close to fitness? Our board is mindbogglingly stupid. Unreal. Doesn't bode well for the summer.
-
And you know that when he is finally fit to play he won't be starting straight away. Over or under under 5 starts for Chelsea? That's a hard call.
-
Don't see any chance of us selling him. Unless they offer us £50m which they won't/can't.
-
The fact that he's like Diego Costa is a bonus for me! We're gonna need a big personality and inspirational leader to battle with the superstar managers that our rivals will have. Would be glorious to watch him get under the skin of the likes of Wenger and Pep who are obsessed with "pure, pretty" football. What a boost in confidence it would be for Costa and Tibo to work with him again as well.
-
It could be made and I feel the same about his time at Bayern. Not impressed with what he did there at all, really. Took a stunningly brilliant team in a weak league and kept them great. No real challenge.
-
To be honest, not that impressive to dominate Serie A when you have by far the most expensive team with by far the best players.
-
Allegri just doesn't impress me or instill that confidence in me that he'll return us to the summit of the PL where we belong. I'd be very underwhelmed if he's our pick.
-
Can we get on the phone with a few Chinese sides this summer and offer them Ivanovic? I'm sure one of them will offer £30m.
-
This is all true, but would the board really back Hiddink with the money and signings necessary to get us competing for the top 4 knowing that he wouldn't be here long? We need someone with a long term vision ASAP that can begin implementing their style right away, not another season in limbo.
-
People have been calling for Azpi to be moved to his actual position for years now. Astounding how we all see it's a serious problem yet the people paid millions of pounds to make the decisions are blind to it. It'll probably continue through next season as well because new captain Ivanovic won't be dropped.
-
Dreaming of seeing a Chelsea team next season that is set out to dominate weaker opposition and asserting ourselves with our superior talent. You see City, Arsenal, and every other "top" team that play attacking football set out to unleash themselves on opposition.
-
Manager has to take the lions share of blame for that result. Poor starting lineup, poor tactical approach, and waiting nearly 75 minutes to bring on our best and most dangerous player. We were pathetic for the majority of that match until we actually realized that we were playing Watford and not fucking PSG or something and actually had superior players. They did almost nothing in the second half. If Hazard is fully fit he HAS to start. Every fucking PL match. Opponents easily contain everyone else. Our central midfield is absolutely terrible this season. Who could've foreseen Matic just falling off a cliff after the first year he had back at Chelsea. We need serious investment from the new manager in the summer in that area or we'll continue to struggle.
-
Matic, FFS!
-
They just lump it into their strikers and there's nothing we can do. They're winning every aerial and 50/50 ball.
-
Surprise, surprise, a player trying to get Diego sent off. Other than the last 10 or so minutes of that half we were embarrassing. Utterly dominated up until then by bloody Watford. Mikel is offering literally nothing to this game. May as well take him out. When we actually do play with the ball at our feet and get into decent positions all of our attackers are playing well. Hazard would be mighty effective against this lot.
-
We're just an absolute shambles defensively. Getting bullied by their forwards.
-
Fucking hell, it's so annoying watching us just play it long over and over. String some passes together and play it on the ground! We're making it so easy for them.
-
Already struggling with their strikers...
-
Come on, boys! A win heading into the United game would be HUGE for confidence and we'll feel like we can go on and climb the table.
-
It's not a bad lineup, but 2 DM's against Watford? We should have set out with great pace and trickery from wide areas and really blitzed them. Hazard and Willian. Can see this being a slow start with them containing us defensively due to lack of width and pace.
