Don't know what the hell people were thinking when they thought the entire team would change when he was sacked. Was never going to happen. Not when management and the board think there's still a chance to salvage something from this season. They aren't going to "throw in the kids" when they still feel like we can get top 4 and win a cup. As for this match, Cahill and Terry against these two strikers should be....interesting.

Its true that this City squad isn't at Bayern's level now, but you appoint Pep who every top player in the world would want to play for and combine that with City's unlimited funds they'll be able to get their team to that level very quickly. Wouldn't be surprised if City sign several more world class players this summer for monstrous fees. The likes of Pogba would probably jump at the chance to go there.
-
He looks and sounds like a school principal but by all accounts is a no bullshit guy behind the scenes.
-
Where would he even play? He's not better that either Willian or Hazard so he wouldn't be starting on either wing. Is he even better than Pedro? Yet another £30m on a wide attacking player (when we don't even know who our next manager will be!) is nonsensical. Almost as nonsensical as the rumor about us spending £30m on a nearly 30 year old, flash in the pan Jamie Vardy. The only January signing we should be thinking about is another CM. Save the funds for the new manager in the summer.
-
Even his YouTube highlights which can make anyone look like a world beater don't look impressive. Also, spending a huge sum on yet another AM when we don't even have a permanent manager would be dumb. What if the new guy doesn't like him? Makes no sense. If we sign anyone in January I think it'll be a cheap striker for the squad to replace Falcao on the bench.
-
Who does he compare to?
-
He probably sees us a a classless, rash club who constantly sacks managers and is always in the news for the wrong reasons. Add on to that the fact that we won't be in the CL next season and would need a total rebuild to suit his football and there's just no way he'd take on such a mammoth task.He goes to City who already play attacking, fluid footbal, have unlimited funds, and will be in the CL. Easy job.

Think even if we offered Pep £15m a season AND offered him total authority on football matters he'd turn us down.

Christ, the gut punches keep coming, huh? First Pellegrino and now Mancini?
-
LOL! Right...
-
Mourinho was kicking the ball about, eh?
-
This season is like the perfect storm for Arsenal. We're utter shit, United are shit, City have their best player injured half the time and their captain and best defender is missing, and Liverpool are Liverpool. If Wenger doesn't win the league this season he should resign and beg Pep to take over.
-
That's a fucking unreal goal. Fuck me!
-
Hammering City here and I completely forgot that their best player is out. Hopefully we have some nice, attacking football next season.
-
Özil is actually quick and can play effectively in a very advanced position unlike Cesc. He's also phenomenal in tight spaces with the ball and can beat a man with a dribble.
-
Wonder if we'll have a proper, creative #10 like Özil next season now that Mourinho isn't here. You never know, maybe if Pellegrino here is our next manager he can reunite with Isco when Madrid inevitably sell a superstar to make room for the new hotness. Or maybe last weekends Oscar will finally become the beast we've dreamed of since we bought him.
-
Özil going to shatter the assist record this season by the look of it. Arsenal are playing like we were first half of last season and like Mourinho's best teams. They don't mind surrendering possession and they spring masterfully on weak defensive moments. City's defending is as poor as ours is. And they have some of the most expensive defenders ever. This is Pellegrino's biggest weakness. When they aren't totally dominating and blitzing sides they have no answer or change.

All these Emenalo avatars are making me ill. Christ...

Look at your avatar.

So like...what does this dude do on a daily basis? Does he even train with us or what? Just chill at home and wait for his January move?
-
Changing my username to Manny Pellegrino soon. Our savior.

You're right, I forgot to consider Courtois. Can definitely see Real Madrid sniffing around. Like Hazard, though, the club clearly thinks of him as a fundamental cornerstone of the club and I doubt they'd sell at any price. As for Willian, he seems like he genuinely loves Chelsea and plays for the badge. I know it's stupid these days to think modern players truly care about their clubs but Willian seems like an exception. Think he'll sign a nice new contract soon enough. When it comes to signings I think the club will back whoever the new manager is significantly to get him up and running and the fans on their side. I have faith we'll spend a big chunk of change this summer. Doubtful we'll be able to sign the absolutely top players like Pogba and the like, but we can still sign very good, CL level players. We can pull an Arsenal and go to clubs like Real Madrid/Bayern/Barca and sign the players they longer want but are still top players.
-
Agree with all of this except for potentially losing our best players. Honestly, Hazard is the only one any top clubs would be after considering our other star players have been so poor recently.Hazard is far and away our best and most important player. No chance we'll sell him. Short of him handing in a transfer request and pulling a Raheem Sterling I think Roman and the club will refuse any offers. The supporters would go mad if we sold him. We may become Liverpool of the past decade if we start selling players. We won't allow that to happen.
-
Pellegrino being backed with a HUGE transfer kitty (I'm talking £150m) would be the only way I can see him being accepted by our fans. If he gets a few top class players in straight away like we did with Cesc and Costa and shows to the supporters that we'll be set up nicely I think we'll be happy. Otherwise there could almost be a Benitez-like reaction. I'm just trying to think of positives here to reassure myself in case this actually happens. He's an admittedly classy and understated guy who can play attractive, attacking football so it's no wonder our hierarchy would want him. He's proven that if he's backed in the transfer market he can succeed so you would hope that if we appoint him our board wouldn't sign any more Papy's, Hector's, or any other nobodies.

See a lot of people saying this. Wishful thinking.
