  1. Can't compare this to the Vardy situation at all. He's a 29 year old player approaching the decline of his career. He would have been going to Arsenal to be a squad player. Sure, he'd be getting paid more but he realized in the end that he could stay at Leicester where he's a legend and the "main man" rather than a bench warmer at Arsenal. If he was 5 years younger he'd have gone no question. Kante on the other hand is only 25 and has years and years at the top level ahead of him. Let's be honest here, last season was a freak occurrence. No chance will Liecester be near the top again next season. Kante has the chance to go to a much bigger club, get a big pay raise, and most importantly will be much more likely to regularly challenge for trophies if he moves.
  2. That's not how I interpreted that article but maybe (I hope) you're right.
  3. I would think in that case it's completely up to Liecester. Unless they're really, really nice and want to make things easy for Kante by allowing him to choose, they really have no reason to sell for a lower amount. If we bid the £20m and another club bids £30m but Kante only wants Chelsea we kind of have to hope Liecester doesn't play hardball and allows him to go where he wants rather than to the highest bidder. We'd also have to hope that another club doesn't get in his head after we've already bid and sways him their way.
  4. The release clause serves as a baseline. It's the minimum a club will have to pay to sign him away from Liecester. If more than one club triggers it with £20m, they'll then have to start going higher in a bidding war.
  5. This needs to get wrapped up before clubs start failing with their primary targets and fall back to Kante! Namely Real Madrid and United who are after Pogba.
  6. Since we're clearly after another striker of high quality and Morata is now a no-go, I wonder who we'd be after now. Even Pellé is off the table now.
  7. Since it doesn't appear Matic will be sold after all and we're after Kante I wonder how Conte plans to use them. A fit and back in form Matic is far too good to be on the bench. Not sure if you can play both of them together.
  8. Huh? He did barely anything at the Euro's. He looked like a decent, speedy attacking player but nothing special.
  9. He's average. We have plenty of average players as it is, don't need another.
  10. Or they're still dicking around trying to sign Nainggolan...
  11. The fact that it looks plain, simple, and understated is why it looks good. These super busy shirts we've been getting lately with 4 colors, stripes, and shitty patterns are atrocious. Always jealous when I see a club with old school, elegant kits. Like Roma usually have.
  12. The fuck is the hideous one the away kit and the classy white one the 3rd kit we'll see probably 3 times all season? Idiots, Adidas!
  13. Victor Moses with that "why am I here?" look.
  14. So, a player who's coming off a poor season and plays in a position we're pretty well stocked in? Yep, sounds like something our board would do.
  15. Absolutely fucking disgusting! I think Adidas must have been angry with us for ditching them and designed this abomination out of spite. Gross.
  16. If I wake up tomorrow morning and Kante isn't holding up a Chelsea shirt I'm gonna smack someone!
  17. Nearly unplayable when he's bothered. Great combo of pace and power but also has good technical ability and dribbling. Can see him going to Liverpool or Everton or some other decent side and being a pain in our asses like he has been for a while.
  18. Would be weird as hell to have him at actually there working with the team and not even be officially unveiled. But I think David is right, we'd be seeing a bunch of chatter from journalists on Twitter if anything were happening tomorrow.
  19. All Chelsea fans are desperate for transfer news so you can be damned sure we won't hear a peep about it from the club tomorrow. We'll hear the most generic, pre-rehearsed answers and a couple of pics.
  20. I'd be livid as well, man. Mourinho probably knows he's one of our main targets and would love to sign him instead. Fellaini and Mata out, Pogba and Kante in. Two prototypical Mourinho players. Would be amazing if we already had the deal in place and we're just waiting for the Euro's to end before immedietly announcing it tomorrow. That would be too easy and be too good to be true for our club, though.
  21. Honestly wouldn't surprise me if United wanted/get both Pogba and Kante...
  22. I keep waking up each morning and checking Twitter expecting to have signed him. What's taking so long?
  23. That is, unless we fuck around and wait too long. Then he goes to Arsenal or something... We really should be making two signings this coming week. If our club were smart and shrewd Koulibaly should be wrapped up within days of Conte arriving at Cobham. The Euro's will be over tomorrow so hopefully first thing Monday morning we trigger Kante's release clause and make an aggressive push to convince him to sign. Morata will probably be the ling, drawn out saga of the summer if we indeed still want him.
