  1. As if Koulibaly would choose them over us even if that bogus rumor were true. It'd be a backward step in his career.
  2. What I meant was that he may become a top class striker/goal scorer here like he hasn't been able to become at Juve or Real Madird. He'd be starting week in and week out here against quality opposition in the PL and working under a world class coach. Don't see why he'd want to stay at Real Madrid and be a squad player. Surely someone his age and with his ability would want to be a star man. Wonder if he has the ambition or is just happy to pull a John Obi Mikel and collect his weekly wage from the bench.
  3. It is kind of funny (in a sad way) that every transfer target we're after is a huge hassle. You know with 100% certainty that it'll be a humongous pain in the ass to sign Kante next week and he's got a bloody release clause, ffs.
  4. True, same with Morata. We probably could've signed him easily for £30-35m a year or two ago. Now it'll cost almost double most likely.
  5. In a world where Sterling and Stones are worth £50m, Sadio Mane is worth £34-38m, and Pogba is worth £103m I really wouldn't care if we splashed out on Morata. If we find ourselves a devastating young striker to pair with Costa and he helps us return to the top it'll be worth it.
  6. I hope it's just them putting pressure on us to pay the right price. I want him!
  7. Guess he's content with being Benzema's backup.
  8. Double unveiling on Monday with Conte & Morata, please. Kante and Koulibaly later in the week. Edit: Now Marca are apparently saying he's for sure staying at Madrid.
  9. So what's that, about the 7th bid for a player we've had rejected this summer thus far?
  10. The prices being talked about for him are crazy but so is everyone shitting on him like he's James Milner or Gareth Barry. There's a reason Real Madrid, Barca, and Juventus (plus United and ourselves if rumors are to be believed) are after him. He's young, very talented, and has a physique that would suit the PL perfectly. I'd take him here gladly.
  11. If the rumors sounded like bullshit before, they smell like bulldiareah now.
  12. He'd be a brilliant signing for a 2nd tier club like Liverpool or Everton but I'm not sure if he's good enough to be a regular at an elite club. When he's actually bothered he's a beast. His problem is he's extremely inconsistent. I get the feeling watching him over the past couple of years that he doesn't look interested a lot of the time because his teammates aren't on his level and he plays down to them. When Newcastle were playing like shit so was he. When they played well as a team he was the danger man.
  13. Reminds me of Wilfried Bony from a couple of years ago when he was good.
  14. Pretty hard to imagine Wenger and Arse spending that much as well. But maybe this is finally the season where they make a true statement of intent... I really hope we get him. The upside is just enormous.
  15. Mirror now saying Arsenal have moved ahead of us and he's leaning towards them because we don't have CL football... Story seems to change 3 times per day.
  16. As was mentioned in an article last week, simply triggering the clause doesn't guarantee that he's ours. Multiple clubs can trigger it and he goes to the highest bidder.
  17. Never thought of that comparison but it's actually kind of a good one. I'd make a bet that Pogba doesn't put up the numbers Kev did last season for City. And he was injured for a bunch of the season. Pogba is the flashier player but De Bruyne is currently more consistent.
  18. Kante & Gomes and we'll have made out better. Both much younger than Nainggolan and haven't even peaked yet.
  19. What? We've seen it up close and personal over the last few seasons in the PL. Hazard, Suarez, Bale, and RvP to name a few. They each did it throughout an entire season.
  20. For this sort of money you'd just expect to get someone like Ronaldo, Messi, or Neymar. A player who can singlehandedly dominate matches on a consistent basis and score 30, 40, or 50 goals a season. Good as Pogba is he isn't that type of player. He doesn't really control and boss games. He's the ultimate luxury player. He'll be excellent for United but the fee will always be ridiculous unless he wins a couple of Ballon d'or's.
  21. I'll be jealous that they'll have Pogba but I'm glad it's not us that's spending that amount on a single player. There are 2-3 players in the world that are worth that amount and Pogba isn't one of them. As long as Conte gets the backing he needs we'll be fine. I'd rather buy 3 top class £30-40m players than a single £100m+ player.
  22. He's going to cost more than many entire teams! Madness.
  23. We all know Mourinho is the master in the biggest games at grinding out results and simply not losing. All he has to do is continue to do that next season because they will absolutely blast away the midtable and small sides. With the way PL sides defend these days there's just no chance any of them are stopping Zlatan, Martial, Mkhitaryan, and Pogba. Maybe even Roney will be rejuvenated under José. Clear title favorites if they sign Pogba.
  24. £100m on a single player. We can almost fortify our entire team with great players for that amount. We could sign all of Kante, Koulibaly, and Nainggolan for that.
  25. Would be shocking, frankly, if we allow him to go anywhere other than Chelsea if there's any chance he's available. We have his coach and are in desperate need of a CB.
