Definitely understandable. It would just suck if one of our rivals buys him and he continues banging them in and becomes the player we hoped for when we first bought him.
-
The club aren't that stupid. Musonda has all the signs of a future star.
-
Think it also says something that almost all of the Everton fans I've seen online wouldn't be bothered at al to see him go. Many are happy to see it as a matter of fact. When he's on top of his game he's an unplayable monster. When he's off form or not bothered due to a poor attitude he's Giroud-tier. £30-35m, okay. Not £60m or more.
-
United fans can get super excited though because they know what Mou brings: instant, short term success and heavy spending. City and Arsenal fans know what to expect from Pep and Wenger: beautiful, intricate football. Liverpool and Spuds fans know what to expect from Poch and Klopp: high intensity, pressing football. With Conte we haven't got a clue what formation(s) he may use, what positions he may want to strengthen, which players we currently have that he'll want to keep or sell, or the actual style of football he wants to use. What I'm saying is I have no idea what to expect with us. All we really have is a bunch of players we've been linked with that are supposedly ones that Conte wants but could just as well be fabricated by the media like they usually are.
-
I'll be able to "move on" when I have an idea of the type of team Conte wants to build and what type of football he wants to play. Currently we have no clue about either of those things so it's bit hard for me to get too excited.
-
In terms of pure football technique you're correct, but Lukaku is on pace to be one of the PL's all time goal scorers. He scores no matter where he is. All I'm saying is that no, he definitely isn't worth this insane price, but I wouldn't mind us giving him another shot. I just don't see how he and Costa coexist.
-
This is true. We know Pep and Mou will be buying galacticos and big names. We won't be able to attract those types of players so hopefully Conte can sign a few in that level just below and coach them up like he did in Italy. With only domestic football to focus on we should have every opportunity to help Conte adjust. Again, assuming we buy some quality.

Anyone will look like mugs paying that amount for him. That's the sort of fee you'd expect to pay for one of the world's best players. Honestly, though, you have to look at it a bit like the Martial fee. Is it crazy to pay so much for him? Yes. But you'll get a super young goal scorer who can play for your club for 10 years. Can you imagine what Harry Kane would cost?
-
José would just say that it wasn't him who wanted Lukaku sold and Lukaku would say he needed to leave and develop but is now ready to play at the highest level. Kiss and make up. Pogba may feel he has unfinished business at United and has admitted he's still a fan of the club I believe. Surely working under Mourinho at the biggest club there is would be enticing to him. Plus they'd probably offer him £300k per week. As for Stones, I've said this before in his thread that I still think he'll become world class given the right manager and players around him. Playing under the best defensive manager there is and alongside theo of his England teammates who are also young could be perfect for him. Smalling/Stones/Shaw looks like an excellent back line.
-
Christ, now I recall why I blocked you several months back. You annoy the hell out of me. I unblocked you thinking you'd stop with this confrontational bullshit. I was wrong. Blocked.
-
I could easily see him buying Lukaku. Along with signing several targets he gave our board and they failed to deliver him. I'd be very surprised if United don't sign Pogba and Stones.
-
The two best managers in world football managing two clubs that care nothing about FFP or spending intelligently. They'll have unlimited funds to buy whomever they like. Meanwhile we're still hearing rumblings from our club that we're going to have to sell a star player or two to fund any incomings to "balance the books." The club are deluded if they think we can compete with not only the two Manchester clubs, but also Arsenal, Spuds, and the smaller clubs who are on the up due to PL money. If they're still scrounging around for cheap deals like they have done over the past couple of transfer windows we won't get close to the top 4 next season.
-
I wish I was like you and a few others who can just move past him and be done with him but I just can't. It feels like a parent getting divorced and remarrying to a person you hate. A Chelsea club legend going to a direct rival. It's 100x worse than Lamps at City and Cech at Arsenal. All he's done for us and everything he's said defending us is just washed away in my eyes. All of the "one of us" talk was utter bullshit. I really, really hope that our match going supporters don't cheer and sing his name when he returns to the Bridge.
-
Just have to hope Roman will watch very closely what's happening with United, City, Spuds, Liverpool etc are doing and will feel slightly envious and concerned and opens the pocket book in a huge way. We're going to need to build one hell of a squad in order to compete with these sides again.
-
I really hope a journo at his presser asks him if he has anything to say to us Chelsea fans who will surely view this as a huge betrayal. It'll be like a gut punch for me seeing him "fulfilling his dream" as the United manager.
-
Think them and Arsenal will be title favorites heading into the season. Pep has too big of a job in refreshing that City squad strait away and will have some growing pains. Arsenal are a player or two away from having the best squad in the league and Mourinho will probably spend £150-200m and have them right up there immedietly like he always does. United will be "back." In the short term, at least.
-
Wonder how long it'll take him to take shots and jabs at us after his appointment. His first press conference I'd imagine. Let's see if he calls out any individual players or staff.
-
Wouldn't mind if it wasn't for 65 fucking million! He's worth about half that amount.
-
Makes sense. And as good as he is and has the potential to be, I hope we don't get in a bidding war and pay silly money for him. If Conte wants another top class striker I'd prefer Higuain. Much, much better finisher.
-
Very good player but...
-
Thank fuck they lost that and in humiliating fashion. All we would've heard about all summer is how amazing Liverpool are and how they'll be one of the title favorites next season. Disgusting fan base, awful club.
-
So the main reason for ending the Adidas deal was because the club was pissed about them immedietly dwarfing our agreement by giving United £75m per year. City are with Nike as well and have only a pathetic £12m per season deal. What happens now if they see our new deal at £60m and negotiate their own new deal and it dwarfs ours again?
-
Oh, hell yes! Term X just jizzed himself!
-
Great ambition he's showing here... New manager's reported #1 target doesn't want to come here. Nice start.
-
Good. Need him hungry and 100% fit for next season. Take a nice, long holiday on Brazil, Diego.
