FIFA will hopefully realize that this greedy shit they’re pulling is going to fail. Empty stadiums, massively lopsided score lines, players barely caring to put in effort. Embarrassing look for them. I just hope none of our players get injured playing in this farce of a tournament.
-
Best mates with Palmer, good mates with a bunch of our players, UCL football, much higher profile club. If we made an effort there’s no way he’d turn us down.
-
If we’re dead set on signing only young talents why not throw everything at Morgan Rogers? At least he’s PL proven and is right in line with our obsession with former City youth. And for me he’s actually got top tier potential unlike some of these other guys.
-
Gittens, Garnacho, and Malick Fofana. Not exactly confidence inspiring choices, imo. I honestly feel like we’re just going to replace Sancho whose production was really disappointing with another winger who will put up disappointing numbers. But also cost tens of millions more than Sancho would have.
-
Who the fuck is Malick Fofana?
-
It doesn’t need to change 180 degrees. They can still pursue the best young talent out there. But that can’t be the ONLY kind of player we buy or we’re never going to win anything. Because our rivals are busy buying players who are already top quality rather than what could become great 3+ years from now.
-
Thing is, we’ve hoarded a hundred “talent’s” already. This should be the summer where we supplement those young and developing players with experienced quality to help us push on and become a serial contender for the league and UCL again. Instead, it appears we’re just going to obsessively hoard more young players who may be years away from reaching their potential. If they ever even do.
-
I really just thought/hoped that with UCL achieved and with the positive vibes around the club after 3 years of misery, the owners would go out and go BIG for a marquee signing like Liverpool have done with Wirtz and then the rest of the buys would be smart, opportunistic ones like Delap. And that we’d do so early in the summer so that player could get settled in and hit the ground running. There’s still a lot of the transfer window left but I feels like there’s zero buzz about us going for any truly top class, ready made player. We’re still going to be shopping for the same targets we would’ve done had we finished 7th or something.
-
Or they’re so obsessed with Gittens and he’s our only LW target and they’re therefor waiting until after the CWC for him. 🤦♂️
-
Feels like all rumors and links just died stone cold the second the June 10 deadline lapsed. Haven’t seen any transfer talk since even though the window back open, right?
-
I haven’t seen anything?
-
Nobody worth a damn is reporting anything so it doesn’t really matter. That cfbayern guy doesn’t know shit.
-
Ekitike looks like he has the higher ceiling for sure from a raw, natural talent POV. But I just wonder how he’d hold up to the rigors of the PL. A lot of the negatives I’ve read about Ekitike when this monster price is being discussed is that he is physically weak and gets bullied in Germany. If that’s the case, how’s he going to hold up against teams who love to get physical and thuggish like Burnley or Everton? Whereas Woltemade looks technically good for a huge guy whilst also having the strength and muscle to bully people himself. He looks less risky than Ekitike to my eye because he’d cost a fraction. When you’re spending €100m on a player you need a virtual guarantee that he’s a superstar. I don’t personally see that with Ekitike.
-
Just watched a YouTube comp of Woltemade. I actually came away more impressed with his game than Ekitike. 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️ They’re both tall and lanky as hell but Woltemade looks much more robust and can hold up the ball excellently. Thing is, from his POV it doesn’t seem very wise to agree to come here when we have Jackson & Delap. At his age it would be a huge risk to go from playing every week to getting the odd chance in the League Cup or as a sub here. I’d take him, though, since it’s clear we aren’t going for a Gyokeres or Osimhen.
-
At this point I’d take just 1 game changing, level raising signing. Don’t even care which position. We entered this summer following UCL qualification with me hopeful that we’d sign 3-4 to take us to the next level. Instead, our targets look like a list West Ham or Everton would draw up. 🤦♂️
-
So following Wirtz, Man United will be the last of the big PL clubs that hasn’t crossed the £100m barrier on a player.
-
Whatever happened to Kudus thing? We got linked and then the story just diced after like a day. Not that he’s what we need, but still.
-
Feels like any and all transfer rumors and reporting have come to a complete stop with us. I know the CWC is starting soon but surely we should still be pushing seriously for deals. What’s going on? 🤦♂️ We aren’t seriously just going to wait around for weeks for Gittens and that’s the only signing we’re working on. And that’ll be a massive overpay, too.
-
Nike finally stopped fucking around with the horrid kits they’ve given us lately and gave us 2 absolute beauties this time. This is the prettiest away kit in years.
-
Which is why we need an injection of highly experienced players who have been there and done that and know how to handle it.
-
City have had the exact sort of surgically precise week we were sold on us having leading into the CWC. They had clearly identified all their targets some time ago and went out and got each one of them with little to no drama or drawn out sagas. Cherki, Reijnders, Ait Nori in the span of 1 week. Following them doing similar in January. Now their new team gets to gel and train together all summer and can hit the ground knowing exactly what Pep wants from them once the PL starts. Meanwhile, our club is penny pinching and gaslighting the fanbase.
-
Signing dozens of young players whilst we had also been signing loads of first team players that blocked their pathway was always going to bite us in the ass at some point and piss some of them off. That time is apparently now. Paez, Petrovic, who knows who else probably all were under the impression that they’d get a look in this summer to prove themselves worthy of staying.
-
What I mean is the manager wants them so you’d think the club would push a bit beyond what they initially intended to to reward Maresca for achieving his goals this last season. If he wanted Maignan and the only intended to go to £12.5m, would it have really been a big deal to go to £20m? It just seems like insane logic having seen what they’ve spent on complete rando’s for years now. For literal kids aged 17 or 18 they’re willing to pay whatever is necessary even if that’s £40m+ yet for one the premier keepers who is also a leader in the squad which we badly need, we blow up the deal that would’ve been cheaper than what we paid for Sanchez.
-
The club are treating Gittens as if he’s a superstar going back again and again for him. Dortmund appear to be smacking us around like the own us. It’s embarrassing. Imagine if they went this hard after an already top winger instead.
-
I don’t rate Gittens highly either but he’s apparently what the manager wanted. Just like he apparently wanted Maignan. The former I couldn’t care less about but missing out on the chance to get a serious keeper really stings.
