At least it feels like the Garnacho talk has died down today. But still just a week or so left in the window and not even a whisper that we’re actively pushing for a damn striker. Maybe if Jackson misses a couple more sitters tomorrow we’ll do so?
-
So if Levi is back fit it’ll probably be Reece, Trev, Colwill, Cucu as the back 4. That’s actually a pretty interesting and potentially good back line to use against a side like City. What’s annoying is that this would’ve been a game where Lavia thrived in and been super important for the team. And if that becomes apparent tomorrow and City run through our midfield easily I hope it kicks the board into action in the final days of the window.

Judging by Maresca’s comments just now in his presser it doesn’t sound like he’s particularly interested in signing a winger or a midfielder. So either he’s playing it down as to not mess with negotiations or all these reporters saying we really want new players in those positions were lied to/used. Perhaps United throwing our name out there to pressure Napoli?
-
I meant as just a 6 month loan, not sign him on an actual multi year deal. Of course we’d never do that, lol.
-
I’m legit shocked we haven’t been linked with Pogba on a free this window.
-
Be slightly easier to stomach if we also bring in a striker. But I just don’t see what benefit Garnacho brings to the team from a goal scoring POV. We need a lethal finisher and none of our 3 current wingers are that and likewise Garnacho.
-
Better than Mudryk is kind of pointless when he hasn’t even been a factor this season.
-
United fans are all pissed off that their board would sell him to us and Chelsea fans are all pissed off that our board would spend stupid money on a average player. If he becomes a Chelsea player of course I’ll support him and hope he does well, but fucking hell is he a massively underwhelming and silly transfer target. 🤦♂️
-
Okay, tbf I’ve just watched a YouTube comp of this midfielder we’re linked with and he does look like a proper, highly technical baller. Pretty impressed with what I’m seeing on the ball. However, he looks like he’s about 4ft tall. Know who he reminds me of almost exactly in terms of dribbling and ball carrying? Bernardo Silva.
-
So we aren’t willing to pay a loan fee for PL proven Douglas Luiz but we’ll buy some random dude from a tiny Italian team nod]body has ever heard of? 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ Just recall someone already on our books at that point, ffs.
-
Are Juve in dire need for a CB or something? They really wanted Veiga badly and £4m for a few months on loan is actually pretty considerable. So will he actually walk right into their team? If so, that could be very beneficial for us.
-
Huh? Being super direct and aggressive and trying to take defenders on is EXACTLY what Noni does. That’s literally his whole game. But then he gets near the box and does fuck all 90% of the time.
-
I just feel like Garnacho would be a left sided Madueke. A winger who is clearly talented but is the kind of a “head down and run” player which is what frustrates the fuck out of me about Noni. There isn’t really a sophistication to his game from what I see. You can say he’s only 20 and can get much better but as of right now he doesn’t look close to a £60m player.
-
Rather him than Garnacho. But yeah, silly money.
-
Just push harder for Douglas Luiz on loan and buy a striker. That would be a perfectly acceptable January window. Forget doing something really fucking dumb like splashing insane money on Garnacho.
-
Please, Napoli, don’t fucking do this to us! Don’t switch targets from Garnacho! 😫😫😫
-
Would be a very solid move if true. Perfect short term stopgap who is PL ready.
-
Man City are having a Clearlake style January window. They’re copying us almost exactly and it kinda funny. Gave Haaland a massive length contract, signing 3 teenagers who all play the same position (CB) and are sending one of them on loan to a French side just like we do. Let’s see if their scouts have better success rate with all these kids they’re buying than we’ve had so far.
-
If it were up to me I agree, we should bring him back. But I feel like it gets into really messed up territory if we start sending our feeder club talents, they become super key players there, and then we snatch them back midseason and thus derailing their season. Again, if we want to be cold and heartless I wouldn’t mind. But I can’t see our owners bringing that heat on themselves.
-
Even just looking at highlights on YouTube of Garnacho and he looks shite. Madueke has been bang average this season but I’m 100% positive that if you put together a highlight reel for him they’d be miles more impressive than what I’m watching of Garnacho. If the club is so desperate for another young winger to the point where we’re willing to spend another huge fee, there are surely MANY others out there who are better than this kid. Here’s an idea, how about one who actually scores goals? Why can’t we target wide attackers like Liverpool always seem to find like Luis Diaz, Jota, Mané etc? We always seem to get wide players who are good to great at everything except end product. Literally all 4 of our current wingers can beat players for fun in space, get into dangerous areas, and are good playing in tight spaces but then disappoint in the most important aspect which is scoring. Garnacho is just another one who will be exactly the same. NOT what we need. Napoli and Conte please save us from this transfer!
-
Already see some of our fans getting excited about Matt Law saying we’re “assessing midfield options,” but any move we do make there will almost surely be Ugo returning from loan. We won’t want to fuck with Strasbourg’s season and piss their fans off even more than they already are with BlueCo by recalling Santos. Don’t think anyone should get excited as if we’re going to go out there and buy some great new midfielder.
-
Just the idea of us being linked with a player who would cost 65-70m when that same money could surely go towards buying us a really good striker makes it even worse.
-
Napoli, please save us from doing this stupid ass transfer! Your Kvara replacement is right there!
-
Lavia’s injury struggles are legit the most frustrated I’ve ever been with a player. Reece has had terrible injury luck but when he does come back from them he usually plays for a while before getting injured again. Lavia has been out more than he’s has played! He’s 20 years old and has the body of a fucking 60 year old! He is an unbelievable talent and someone who I 100% believe would go in to become a world class midfielder if he stayed fit. We would have the best midfield trio in world football if Lavia had the fitness record of Caicedo. Surely we HAVE to pull the trigger on recalling one of our loanees. And it has to happen THIS WEEK. We cannot go into that City game with Caicedo and KDH as the only resistance in midfield. They’ll rip us to shreds.
-
Pretty mediocre performance overall with a few standout individuals. Caicedo, Tosin, Cucu, and Trev were all great. Biggest positive was how composed we looked second half and didn’t allow Wolves to grow in confidence. But in terms of attacking quality I thought we were poor.
