As I said before, I'd take Giroud but I think Dzeko is more likely to really push Morata because his all around game is more refined. Doesn't really seem as though Dzeko is happening now so I suppose this is the best alternative.

Starting for Roma again tonight. Think it's safe to say we've either moved on or aren't nearly as advanced in negotiations as reported. No way would the club risk him getting injured if he was on the brink of moving. Looks like it's Batshuayi or Hazard as the false 9 for the remainder of the season if Morata can't play.

I agree that he looks much more natural as a deep midfielder than he did at CB.

There have never really been questions about his finishing. Reason he needs good loan is to improve the other parts of his game. Hold up play, passing, running with the ball. That stuff is all substandard. Clearly got the talent but needs to play consistently so he can improve,

After KDB, he's the best freekick taker in the league and is a LB. Crazy how consistently he scores as a defender.

Willy is brilliant at making reflex saves. If he was more assertive when coming to claim the ball or deal with crosses he'd be a top keeper.

We'll probably be choosing from someone who's currently out of management. Don't see any established, top class manager wanting to leave their club to jump into the Chelsea fire. Carlo, Tuchel, Luis Enrique. I doubt someone like Simeone will even consider leaving a club who are extremely stable like Atleti for us. Especially after seeing what we've done to Conte the season after he won us the league. Tuchel would be the best of the bunch I think but he's also a huge risk.

Seems like everyone (the club, the fans, and Conte himself) are resigned to him going. Such a fucking shame and caused almost entirely by the club this time rather than the manager himself. For years and years Roman and the club hierarchy have desired a long term manager who can build something at Chelsea. We've finally got one who could've done that and they haven't ever backed him sufficiently. Now it's all going to start over in the summer. New manager who will probably have much different ideas on both playing style and personnel. More rebuilding and another reset while the clubs around us are all stable. Now seeing rumors about Luis Enrique being the guy. What a huge gamble that would be. A terrible choice, imo.

Do hope Barkley starts but not in an advanced role. I either wanna see him in midfield in place of Bakayoko as the box to box next to Kante or in a 3 with Cesc and Kante.

Tbh, not sure why Giroud would even want to come here at this point in his career. At least Dzeko is still good enough to challenge and push Morata for his place in the team. Giroud would be nothing more than a Plan B which he's already unhappy about at Arsenal. Hed be better suited trying to go back to France and be the leading man for someone.

What I think happened is this - Our dumbass board probably thought this would be an easy deal to get over the line so they went in with a lowball offer both to Roma and to Dzeko thinking he'd jump at the chance to play at Chelsea. We probably offered him a shitty 1 year contract and he said 2-3 years or fuck off. Now we're scrambling to get our shit together before the deadline. Just like we got caught unaware and embarrassingly got beaten to Lukaku. Just though "eh, we can put this off since we know we'll get him eventually." We just seem so naive in this modern market.

Dzeko is world class compared to the alternatives. If this falls through anyone who we do get will be about 5 levels below.

Utter incompetence. Our club has a cancer that needs to be removed. If we sign Ashley Barnes or Peter Crouch on deadline day I may not watch Chelsea again this season. I'm not even joking.

I got tired of watching his press conferences months ago because the awful journalist ask him literally the same questions every few days and he gives the same answers every time. So did he sound like he knew he's off soon or was he just annoyed to be there?

Once again no Courtois or Morata says Conte. FFS, I thought these were very minor injuries and they'd be back for this one. Willian out as well. This'll be more of a struggle than I thought it would be.
