One thing that's annoying me is how twice the supposedly very reliable Di Marzio has said "done deal" on our striker deals over the past week or two and both times he's been completely wrong. He obviously wouldn't publish those things unless he felt very confident that they were true so what the hell is going on behind the scenes? Must be absolute chaos. Like I said before, if it's not Dzeko or Giroud, there's no other option available that's a better option than just keeping Bats. Anyone else would be a complete waste of money and is no better than Batshuayi.

I doubt we'd be in any rush in relation to tomorrow's match. No one we'd sign would be involved anyways. Especially under a manager like Conte who always likes to ease new players in.

Already imagining a scenario in which we deploy both Morata and Giroud together with Hazard up there as well. Giroud as the target man with Hazard and Morata drifting all across the box. Could be very effective. Gives opponents a big headache defensively.

Like I've seen elsewhere, you've seen Watford turn down 16m for Deeney. Andy Carroll would've cost more. There are lower league teams rejecting more money for inferior players. If we can get a striker that has scored 100 goals for a top 6 club for only £15m it's great business.

Tbf, we wouldn't be asking him to run in behind and play on the shoulders of defenders to spin in for a counter attack. He's a pure, old fashioned #9. Danger with leaving a move for Giroud so late of course is that we're leaving it in a direct rivals' hands not to fuck us over. They can string us along until the deadline saying they'll agree to sell him to us and then pull the plug at the last second. For that reason, I hope we're also keyed in with Dortmund. They don't sell Auba until they get Batshuayi and Arsenal don't get Auba until we get Giroud.

If you watch the compilation of Giroud's 100 goals for Arsenal you can see that he's an fantastic poacher. Excellent instinctual finisher in the box with his head and his feet. Where I've seen him struggle is when he's got a lot of time to think or when he tries to do too much.
