  1. I think he's 100% gone, sadly. Reports are that Zidane would only return if he could rebuild and mould the team in his vision. He'll be able to sell his targets on being part of bringing Real Madrid out of their slump and starting a new generation. Imagine your in Eden's boots and your idol comes to you and talks about his ambitious project that he wants you to be a part of. No way he says no. Of course for us it comes at the absolute worst possible time. Transfer ban, very likely scenario of no CL football, uncertainty about the manager. Combine all that with the fact that he'll only have 1 year on his contract. It's either sell him in the summer for half of what's he's actually worth or force him to stay and anger him. Then he walks for free. Just think about how catastrophic it would be if Hazard asks to leave and we can't sign anyone to replace him or strengthen other parts of our team with that money. Yikes...
  2. Said it before and I'll say it again. Will be so annoying for Arse to finish above us when we're both in rebuilding years. They have more average players than we do.
  3. Yeah. Azpi at CB was a liability in certain matches against tall strikers, but if honestly rather see him there than at RB. We need someone highly technical who can reliably provide service there.
  4. Emerson is fine. I agree with what you said earlier about Azpi becoming a problem. Sad to say it, but he looks shaky these days. Very limited going forward and now even lets us down defensively which has never been the case in years past. I would say that a top RB needs to be a priority this summer but now that it's looking grim with the transfer ban we'll be stuck with Azpi and Zappa there.
  5. Don't know why people are slating Higuain after a match like that. Lone striker with 3 CB's standing right next to him and the majority of the rest of their players crowding the area. What could he have done today? Especially when the crosses and service into him were atrocious for the most part. Kovacic's dramatic inconsistency in such an important position is the biggest issue. He looked fantastic in midweek but invisible today. He offers nothing going forward. Ruben's more direct and aggressive style was night and day and he looked far more dangerous.
  6. I don't know what's more embarrassing, the fact that a promoted side can come to the Bridge and look totally comfortable and untroubled defensively or the fact that Wolves can score in literally the only way they could do today which is on a breakaway counter. They barely even tried to win today and barely got a sniff of the ball and they get joy. Europa League remains our best route to CL football.
  7. Agree that this is more of a Willian match than a Pedro one. Pedro isn't really going to get super wide and run at the fullback. Also, Kovacic is pretty ineffective against a parked bus as well. Offers literally zero goal threat. In fact, he can't even get a shot near the target 99% of the time. I'd replace him with Ruben.
  8. This is basically an attack vs defense training session. Wolves happy and willing to sit deep and congest the box. We can't play our way through the middle at all. And as usual, on the rare occasions they do nick the ball they look dangerous. You get the impression that Wolves have another gear to go up where they press high and become aggressive. Conversely, this is the only real way we play. We're pressing high and moving it around nicely but can't pick the final pass.
  9. They also have the enigma that is Adama Traore that can come on and run at us as well as that young kid #17 who we allowed to destroy us last time we played them. We almost have to treat this like it's against a fellow big 6 rival. They play like a big team. No bus parking or getting completely battered from this lot.
  10. Our strongest possible XI I'd say. Must be said, Wolves do have a very nice looking XI here. Full of potential danger men. This is going to be very, very tough. Hope the players don't crumble if we struggle.
  11. Don't know if you guys in England do this, but in American sports we often talk about "system" players. Players who are made to look far better than they actually are due to playing for a brilliant coach/team. To me that's what Sterling is. I don't think he'd look nearly as good if he wasn't playing for City. Very nice player, don't get me wrong. But he's not top class for me. For instance, you could place Hazard or Aguero or KDB on literally any shit PL team and they'd still be world class. Don't think Sterling is anywhere near that level. He's just picture perfect in Pep's system.
  12. Id be livid if I were a Liverpool fan right now. In the midst of a tight title race and Watford have basically surrendered the match before even kicking off by resting several of their best players. City barely have to break a sweat for the second straight weekend.
  13. I'll allow myself a wry smile at Spuds, but with a very tough match tomorrow I can't get too excited yet. Should we win and Arse/United draw this will be a picture perfect weekend. Maybe a few key injuries to other teams as well. 😂
  14. They're the sort of team that can give us real trouble if we don't show up. Very well drilled, athletic, and have several players who can destroy us on the counter. I pray Emerson starts.
  15. Absolutely outrageous. Sounds like FIFA is trying to make a statement here. Completely inconsistent with what those other clubs went through. What would even happen if the club just ignore the ruling and went about business as usual? Not like they'd kick us out of the PL or anything?
  16. Quite possibly the worst side we've been played this season. I was expecting WAY better. Pedro is a phenomenal player when in form. Silky touch, endless workrate, constant running in behind. Should've had a hat trick there. Luiz, Pedro, and Kovacic were sensational. Kovacic looks really good carrying the ball. Hopefully these missed chances don't bite us. All it takes is one terrible defensive error and they can spoil the night if we don't ad do on our lead.
  17. Let's be real here. If CHO was at any of Arsenal, United, Liverpool, or Spuds he would be every bit as good, if not better than Rashford is currently. All of those clubs/managers would be giving him regular starts and nurturing his talent more/better than we do. It's sad but true. And that's why we'll most certainly lose him this summer.
  18. No clue what to expect here. Don't know how dangerous Dynamo are and don't recognize a single name in their XI. Hopefully we take this ultra seriously and don't underestimate them. Home clean sheet a priority. We have to treat the EL like its the CL and we're totally desperate to win it.
  19. Don't understand how that's a pen in a million years. He's looking the opposite direction and his arm is basically by his side. Wasn't totally unintentional and he doesn't move his arm towards the ball. Arm not in an unnatural position. Thats shocking.
  20. PSG look shell shocked. They have almost 90% possession and should've killed it off. Now they look vulnerable to every United counter. We'll never hear the end of this from the media if United go through and rightly so. Missing their entire midfield 3 and PSG were 2-0 up. Almost worse than their choke against Barca.
  21. United have basically scored on their only two touches... Theyve looked embarrassingly terrible and have scored 2 against PSG away. Like I said, CHOKERS!
  22. PSG are the ultimate CL chokers. They'll fuck this all up, watch. Against this awful looking United XI.
  23. On one hand its cool to see Ajax batter Courtois and Real Madrid. The entitlement and arrogance of that club are gross. On the other hand, them going out makes it much easier for one of Liverpool, City, or Spuds to advance even further. Even when Madrid are having a poor season by their standards they have been super dangerous deep in the CL and I'd have fancied them against any English side. Every season I cheer against every English team that's not us. Would be unbearable to see any of them win it. but this season I think City have a very, very good chance and Liverpool and Spuds are so up and down that depending on the day they can beat anyone. Atleti have been my go-to "2nd club" over the past few years so I hope they win it all. If not them then Juventus despite my dislike of CR7.
  24. "Who's that decent, but not great English midfielder playing for Chelsea?" He's a very good squad player but simply not good enough to start regularly for Chelsea.
  25. Jorginho should be doing what he did much more often in truth. With the amount of time we spend camped out in opponents' half, he should be getting into that position along the edge of the box all the time and passing it into the top corner. Hazard and Wilian put so much pressure on the wide areas that the pullback to Jorginho/Barkley/Kante is always there. Imagine prime Lamps in Kovacic/Barkley's position!
