Hope whatever happens, happens soon. Get the speculation over with. Let the new manager start to put things in place ASAP.
-
Unpopular opinion, but I think Rafa is a better manager than say Allegri or Blanc and obviously Lamps at this early stage in his career. No chance we're looking at him but I think he'd be decent.
-
Knowing us it'll drag on the whole summer. Remember last summer how long it took to sort the Conte situation? Everyone knew he was off from the day the season ended and yet it took ages. And remember the summer before that when we waited and waited and waited to sign a striker and then put in that embarrassing last second bid for Lukaku after he had already decided to go to United? This time we'll probably fuck about for a month and then have a panic appointment with Blanc or something. 😂
-
Can't really blame him for wanting to jump to Juve. Unless Conte is backed with a couple hundred million Sarri will walk to the title. They'll have another deep run in the CL. He'll be managing a club that many top players desire and can likely cherry pick the best Italian talent whenever he sees fit. For a manager who just won his first trophy he's probably got the hunger to win more and views the Italian league as a triumph he came so close to achieving but coming up short. Look at the man he's replacing. Allegri is an above average manager who coasted to title after title. Sarri can enhance his legacy significantly there. Why stay here and fight for 6th?

Shit. Icardi and Lukaku are going to swap clubs, aren't they? Conte has always fancied Rom and he's surely leaving United this summer. Just our fucking luck that a proper top class striker that I've desired for years is officially available and we are banned. The Hazard money could go straight to Inter for Icardi.
-
Now that's a statement. That's how you go out a legend!
-
Seeing him reunited with that twat Courtois is sickening. Only a matter of time before Tibo talks more shit about us.
-
Only going to get worse as our rivals start signing big players.
-
Going to be weird as hell to not see him here. Having a world class player leave at the height of his power is not something we've really experienced. We've seen other great players leave but not one as absolutely integral to the club as Eden. I wish him luck and hope he kills it in Madrid. I only wish there was some good news headed our way...
-
Fucking hell. All these youngsters we've been pinning hopes on due to the ban next season and they're dropping like flies. Someone needs to quickly find Mason Mount and wrap him in wool before he ruptures his Achilles or something.
-
To just take it now to "get it over with" is dumb in my eyes because we'd just be giving up on the season. We would be woefully short of the quality needed to even sniff the top 4. Are the club fine with that? Their decision on whether to request the freeze will tell us. We need to request freeze, load up on quality this summer, and then we'll be ready to serve the ban in my opinion. Sign 4-5 players and use a few who were on loan and we'd then have a squad robust enough to sustain ourselves during the ban.
-
So what's the fucking point, then!? The cynic in me says that the club knows there will be outrage if we sell Hazard and then quickly afterwards announce that we are accepting the ban and not signing anyone this summer. They can now say "hey, we tried" and that its out of their hands.
-
I doubt the club would even attempt to replace Hazard like for like if we could bring in players. I think the plan all along has been for the combo of Pulisic and CHO to be those very young talents who will succeed him long term. But now that CHO is out for months of the season we'll be relying on average ass Willian and Pedro again. Our attack ain't scaring anyone in the top half of the table or in the CL without Hazard. We were already lowest scorers in the big 6 this past season with the best player in the league. Turning up at Anfield/Etihad/Spuds etc and the top CL clubs' stadiums with Giroud/Willlian/Pedro leading the line will surely be intimidating. 😒
-
I'd probably be pretty excited and content with getting over £100m for him if it were a normal summer where I knew the club would reinvest the cash. Knowing that we can't makes this feel pretty hollow.
-
Just hurry up and get it over with, FFS. Gonna feel super weird hitting the unfollow button on Twitter for Eden after all these years. Followed him the day he made that famous tweet and it'll be strange not seeing him as a Chelsea player.
-
That sounds like bullshit. Why were other clubs able to get a stay but not us? It's so maddening that the club haven't updated us on this situation. Are they just going to spring it on us at the last minute?
-
Be happy to see him go were it not for the ban. We can't really afford to get rid of him with it in place though can we?
-
Think they'll win the CL again next season with Hazard and Jovic. Curious who they're selling, though.
-
I just fear they don't yet have the tactical nous to out coach or even match the world class managers he'd be facing. Frank will have 100% support and backing from the fans and club, but is he the right man to manage Chelsea now? The top of the PL is tougher and more competitive than ever before. Is appointing a rookie PL coach with mere months on his resume wise when probably the top 3 best coaches in world football are managing our rivals? Much more experienced and proven managers have tried and failed. It's just a colossal gamble that I don't think we should take.
-
Wonder how/if his role and position change under a different manager. He really started to improve towards the end of the season. Needs to be key to what we do under the next manager.
-
Agreed. Lamps and Morris will manage if the ban is upheld. Plus Big Pete returning upstairs. Think a few other managers will make it known to the club if that they're interested should we be granted the stay. Then the club will have several options to choose from. Feel like it's basically 90% Lamps at this point.
-
Didn't say I wanted him here, just that if we're looking within the league I'd rather him than Gracia. Honestly, none of the available options are better than Sarri. Not Allegri, not Blanc, not Lamps, not Gracia. None of them. Anyone we get is going to struggle without the transfer window to freshen things up. That's why keeping Sarri is the best course of action. At least he knows the squad well.
-
Talk about a potential appointment that will excite no one. What a huge step down he would be. Sounds like bullshit to me.
-
If any current PL manager is under consideration by the club it should be Eddie Howe. Great man manager who coaches nice, mat tacking football. His teams are super inconsistent defensively but so is just about everyone else. I'd be interested to see how he'd get on with better players. Not sure we'd look at him, though, because he's not exotic enough.

Seeing Javi Gracia's name being mentioned on Twitter now... 😔
