An absolutely ENORMOUS boost in revenue compared to CL qualification/participation by the looks of it. Plus, no more uncertainty about whether or not you finish top 4. Which means these clubs can feel safe in investing huge transfer fees knowing that guaranteed revenue will be there.

I mean, yeah, as I stated a few hours ago I think it would be cool to play Barca, Juve, Real Madrid etc a bunch. Seeing these giants all in an arms race to secure the best players to compete in the Super League sounds interesting to me. Could me the American in me that likes seeing this chaos since I don’t have a sentimental soft spot for English traditions and the “football pyramid” like everyone is talking about.
-
Nah, can’t see that. Without the “big 6” the PL viewership and ad money would collapse. No chance they get kicked out. Nobody outside of England will want to watch West Ham, Everton, and the rest of these average teams. They want to watch the big boys.
-
Ohhhhh, so this would just be a replacement for the CL every season. Except the “founding members” won’t have to qualify and get guaranteed Super League entry every year. This whole time everyone was making it sound like this would replace the Premier League. But no, this is just a huge middle finger to UEFA instead.
-
Basically like playing 2 finals against them. We absolutely must beat them in the league as well.
-
Idk. I think it’d be kinda cool to see Chelsea play Real Madrid one match day, then see us playing Juventus the next, then Liverpool, then PSG etc. Just massive games every time between the best clubs in the world. But I definitely can see why everyone seems to be against it.
-
Yeah....can’t see us winning this. Pep’s only instructions to his team should be to shoot from distance repeatedly to worry Kepa.
-
I think they’d be about the same price, actually. English tax + long contract. And I can never see Kane leaving the PL. Think he wants to break Shearer’s record and should easily do so if he moves to one of the Manchester clubs. Just wonder who we’d go for if both Kane & Haaland are off to our rivals. We’d have to go big just to compete with those teams next season and Tuchel just today said that that’s the goal from day 1 next season. Lukaku seems happy at Inter and tbh why leave a situation where you’re going to win the league and are treated like a king? Not many world class strikers available. Aguero as a stopgap and pray he stays fit doesn’t sound like something a club targeting the PL title does.
-
Way things are going at Spuds, I have a bad feeling Kane will end up pushing for a move to another PL club. And I think there’s only 1 club he could go to that Levy would reluctantly agree to which is United. Kane to United and Haaland to City would be a BIG yikes.
-
I don’t know which side would get embarrassed more in the CL next season if they make it in, Arse or West Ham.
-
Real Madrid have defended brilliantly around their box. Not so much everywhere else. And this is without their best 2 CB’s.
-
Both Real Madrid and Liverpool are completely wide open defensively and in midfield due to their lack of pace in those areas. If we had last seasons Timo Werner in red hot form + Pulisic in this kind of form I’d really fancy us against Real Madrid. They’d run them ragged.
-
He is, but Marcelo is like a legend there. They’ve just binned him for the shiny new toy? He’s not even that old.
-
What’s the deal with Marcelo? Does he not play much for Real Madrid anymore? Feels like I haven’t seen him in ages. Still only 32.
-
Yeah, I really want to avoid either English team. As sweet as it is to beat one of your rivals in Europe it’s also much tougher to take if you lose. So I’d rather avoid.
-
Tbf, they’ve looked much better recently and especially against Liverpool. They aren’t nearly as scary as the Ronaldo-led Real Madrid but they can still beat anyone on a given day.
-
I was just getting ready to type how we were imperious defensively and then that happens. 😂 Unless we improve drastically Real Madrid will completely toy with us. Especially in midfield.
-
We simply CANNOT deal with the high energy, aggressive pressing. No matter what team does it to us it’s extremely effective. They press us and we then can’t string together ANY sort of passing moves. It’s embarrassing. Over both legs now we’ve looked like the ones who are the scrappy underdog with a limited budget and are just happy to be this deep in the competition. With Jorginho and Kante as the pair there is no connection between the midfield and attack at all. It’s just either hoofing it up aimlessly into open space or launching a counter attack when Porto lose the ball. Just like the first leg. We can’t play football at all. This is why we 100% need to prioritize a top midfielder this summer. Jorginho can boss the middle of the pitch against Palace and the like who don’t press. He’s useless and an active hindrance in big games.
-
Ah, shit. Kova is a huge miss here. Really, really hope it’s just precautionary so he doesn’t further injure himself. We absolutely need him for this run in. Our most important midfielder.
-
Commentator on US broadcast said a moment ago that United have won 28 points from losing positions this season. TWENTY EIGHT! That’s probably the difference between them and us. They have that strong mentality and always believe they can win. We on the other hand allowed our levels to drop with weak mentality over and over this season. There’s no chance United have a better squad than us and they also don’t have a world class striker just like us. They’re just better at grinding out results.
-
Of course the one time we actually want these Manc wankers to perform well and win they’ll blow it. 😒
-
They still have quite a few of their best players coming back in. Can’t count them out just yet.
-
Imagine West Ham playing the likes of Bayern, PSG, Real Madrid etc...
-
I feel like if we are in form and played West Ham 10 times we’d win 9 of them. That’s how much better we are player for player. We cannot finish behind them and I don’t think we will. It’s probably going to come down to the matches against shit teams we always slip up to.
-
Watching Lingard and I just have to wonder why we never get fortune like this with Werner. He seems to always be in acres of space to score easy goals. Even by chance, how come that never happens for us? It’s like opponents just invite Lingard into their net.
