  1. We’re either signing no striker at all or we’re going to pull someone totally out of the blue on deadline day. Someone no one has really been thinking about.
  2. Why do that when we’ve got the mighty Ross Barkley? Or RLC? Or so the club may be thinking… 😬
  3. So yeah, I was sadly wrong about feeling good this week in regards to incomings. Looks like we legitimately do need to prepare ourselves for the possibility that we won’t sign a single player.
  4. If it’s anything like here in America, it’s because you have loads of outraged right wing morons who think you’re “infringing in their freedom” if you ask that they be vaccinated.
  5. Without proof of vaccination at the gates of the stadiums there are going to be a load of unvaccinated idiots mixed in with those who are. Which means potentially lots of viral spread.
  6. Better for us that Arse are saddled with a average striker like Tammy than potentially signing another really good one like Aubameyang.
  7. Isn’t the Delta variant exploding in the UK? How are we going to have full stadiums if that’s the case?
  8. Bit strange of Livramento to want to go to Brighton, isn’t it? They just bought a Chelsea youth RWB last year and he was arguably their best player.
  9. Ziyech will be great for us this season. Will be glad to see him stay.
  10. Are we gunning for the record for most outgoing transfers in PL history?
  11. I have this sneaking suspicion that Kane will be a mistake of a signing for them within a couple of years. I predict he’ll continue to get injured again and again. Glad they’re fixated in him instead of Haaland.
  12. Bingo. City have Gündogan, Sterling, Mahrez, KDB, etc who all chip in with decent goal hauls. Liverpool have had the two-headed monster who each scored for fun over the past few seasons. We get ZERO goal contributions from any of our 3 CM’s, Mount doesn’t score often, and our wingers were all subpar last season.
  13. Bayern would sort of be in a similar position as we are if they sold us Lewa. All of the strikers you would imagine they’d want to replace him with are £100m+ players and they never spend that sort of cash. Makes zero sense for them to let him go this summer. They’re most certainly positioning themselves for Haaland next year where they can sign away a German rivals best player like they always do.
  14. Think it’s all a moot point. Why would WH accept anything less than £100m or something? Unless Tammy is involved in the deal. We’d be raving mad to spend that kind of cash straight up for a DM.
  15. True. Could imagine seeing a Rice + Kante midfield pairing against teams like City/Liverpool/United and then against teams where we’ll have 80% of the ball we’d switch it up and rotate Kante for Kova of J5.
  16. Wonder how we’d even line up with if we bought Rice. All summer people have been talking about Jorginho as an outside Balon D’or candidate (which is silly, tbf) and he has been a key player for club and country. Would be extremely harsh to just bench him and he’s way too good to simply be a squad player getting the odd game. Kante is a nailed on starter of course. So where would he play? Even if we were to switch formation to a 4-3-3 to fit all 3 of Rice, Kante, and J5 we’d be leaving out someone extremely important in attack like Mount. Not to mention Kova would find minutes harder to come by and he’s always great to have in the biggest games.
  17. If only we could sell off our first team deadwood as effectively as we are our highly prized youth prospects.
  18. He also dominated in the CL tbf. I just don’t think there’s any risk at all of him struggling. He just seems like someone who is ultra confident and has a monster mentality. I can’t imagine him pulling a Werner or Torres and having their confidence sapped like that.
  19. I think Haaland is the closest thing to a guaranteed instant success there is. His combo of pace, power, and skill will be highly effective in any league. Lukaku on the other hand has the pace and power but is still pretty average on the ball and struggles against defenses that isolate him. He will still have patches where he’ll frustrate the hell out of you with poor touches or close control. Anyway, it’s so frustrating how things have lined up for us. We’re in the strongest position we’ve been in since winning the league with Conte. Even stronger actually. And yet our options are so extremely limited at the striker position so we’re basically paralyzed. Also the fact that transfer fees are so stratospheric these days we can’t simply bully smaller clubs than us into selling. Every one of these world class strikers (Haaland, Kane, Lukaku) are a minimum of £100m. And then there’s just a massive drop off to the next tier of strikers who aren’t the level we need.
  20. Think Rom would definitely get us 20 PL goals but I’m not sure he dramatically improves our title odds. Can see him doing well against lesser teams but struggling against the top ones.
  21. Negotiating with West Ham for their best player should be fun… 😬
  22. Tchomeni or Traore for example. They’re at small clubs who are traditionally selling clubs. Monaco and Wolves consistently sell their best players every season. Shouldn’t be a massive effort to sign these players. We need a striker, a DM/CM, and a RWB rotation option. If the striker hunt is going to drag all window long I wish we’d at least plug the other holes in the meantime.
  23. Oh, I’d absolutely be pissed off if we signed those rando’s that Arse have signed. But they all improve Arse because their team is pretty shit. They’re starting from a lower place than we are. The reason I’m annoyed is because our team is like 98% complete and 1 or 2 moves away from being perfect and yet we can’t seem to close the deals. Even if we just signed a couple of the less spectacular names we’ve been linked with and saved the final piece (striker) until last that would be enough to calm people down. Like, surely it can’t be that difficult to go and get players like the lad from Monaco.
  24. It’s strange. There isn’t t a lot of transfer movement, but of course what little movement there is is happening at the clubs most likely to battle us for a top 4 spot like United and Leicester and even fucking Arsenal. I’m trying to maintain the belief that the reason everything is silent from us is that we’re working secretly on an elephant sized deal like Haaland. But the problem with putting all our eggs in that basket is that we look like naive morons if that doesn’t work.
