Yeah, he played like a week and a half ago and then like Sesko asked to be left out presumably because he wanted to push through the move. If he is now rejoining the team it must mean nothing is close.
-
Think we probably do need him sold. Although now the Xavi deal is seeming less likely. Negotiating with them for 3 weeks, no bid, and now he’s rejoining the team where he could risk injury. Players probably don’t do that if a move is close.
-
Bad news for us if they go for him. Not sure who else could afford Jackson then. We’d have to dramatically lower our asking price for him.
-
Yeah, if we pull off the Xavi and Garnacho (🤢) signings I think we’re awesome in attack and with our midfield depth we’re awesome there, too. Cucu and James are elite at fullback. Really the only two parts of our team that you can say are a CLEAR step down from the other 3 title contenders are CB and GK. You can stack the rest of our squad up against anyone in Europe. I think a starting combo of Trev + Tosin will be just fine against most opponents because the team in front of them should be so good. But against the rival Big 6 attacks? Or the elite UCL sides? That’s where I worry.
-
Oh, come on. We’ve sold how many players this week alone? How is that still not enough?!
-
Guehi does make a whole lot of sense and fits in with the “market opportunity’ conscious stuff our directors like. Available for a decent price which may be even lower for us due to the sell on clause, good age where he’s still young but highly experienced, he’s PL proven and a full international, and to top it all off he’s a Chelsea boy. It would also be a funny bonus to get him in before match day 1 where we can weaken our first opponent. I was just this morning saying that I didn’t want Guehi back but that was when we assumed everyone was fit. Now with Levi missing the entire season he’s a no brainer.
-
Thiago Silva down to come back for 1 more season? 😅
-
If that’s true and no replacement is brought in (which I think is crazy) then I’m assuming it’s Tosin on that left side to start off with next to Trev. Then we maybe try Hato there as he gets up to speed.
-
Two players who aren’t naturally CB’s replacing our best CB doesn’t sound like a recipe for success.
-
Much like Newcastle are finding out, when you’re in desperation mode and everyone knows it they’ll jack the price way up on their players. Every club we may go to about their CB will know we’re in a pinch and have us over a barrel.
-
Unless Jackson is sold for a monster fee along with a couple of others like Nkunku I don’t see how we can comply with those FFP rules and buy Xavi, Garnacho, AND a top class CB. Drop the fucking Garnacho pursuit. Tell him sorry, we’ll come back in for you in January or something. Get Xavi and Guehi and call it a window.
-
Fucking hell, man. He was finally starting to really come on and become the player we all had hoped. We 100% need a new starting CB now. I figured it was a short to medium term injury when I was posting this morning. If he’s out the whole year we NEED a left sided CB and a good one.
-
If only it was 3-4 PL clubs battling it out for him instead of these cheap ass Italians and Germans! 🤣 Then we may actually get the £70m+. Milan may offer us a loan with option to buy for €20m or some insulting bullshit knowing them.
-
Do we even know what’s going on with Veiga right now? Is he training at Cobham?
-
United demanding £50m for Garnacho and using Madueke as the benchmark. If we actually pay that there’s no chance Xavi is coming too.
-
Is a bit strange that Bayern were heavily linked with Woltemade and that move never happened. So they definitely are after a striker. Jackson would probably feast in that league like so many decent strikers do. Perfect backup to Kane. Would Bayern actually pay what we’re demanding is the question. My guess is nobody outside of the PL is going to offer us more than £50m or something.
-
Probably because we’re by far and away the biggest club that are interested in him and he seems like someone who loves being a famous influencer. Staying in the biggest/best league, at a top club, and in London keeps his profile and celebrity high. Also good mates with Enzo Fernandez I think which I’m sure plays it’s part. Tbh, he probably really fancies his chances of beating Gittens for a starting place. Gittens is actually younger than he is and has no PL experience.
-
Garnacho was always spoken about by these reporters as basically a “bonus” signing at the very end after we’ve already secured Xavi and whichever other priority signings. That’s why it almost didn’t seem as bad. But if we’re now pushing ahead with him before Xavi it tells me that it’s Simons that was actually the one we’ll move for if the price is right but isn’t a priority.
-
If we pay more than £35m for Garnacho we’re getting massively ripped off. Mason Mount levels of scamming us like we did them.
-
Would we even be able to afford a new CB with the UEFA FFP shit after we potentially sign both Xavi & Garnacho?
-
If this club signs Garnacho first and then decides not to push through Xavi…
-
Having 6 total CB’s would be fine if some of them were talented academy lads who would be fine getting limited minutes here and there in the cups. Having 6 CB’s when they’re all starting caliber senior pros is overkill imo even with UCL football.
-
Thing is, if you sign Guehi what happens when Colwill returns? We already have 3 RCB’s, 2 of which are super solid in Trev and Tosin. So saying that we’d just shift Guehi over there once Colwill is back isn’t so straightforward.
-
He said something like “Colwill felt something at the end of the session.” My mind immediately went to hamstring.
-
I’d be surprised if we go into the market for a new CB unless he’s out for several months. Buying an expensive CB only for Colwill to be back in a few weeks would create quite the headache. On the other hand, Badiashile also happens to be injured for all we know and we sent Sarr back to Strasbourg so it’s a real problem area all of a sudden. Throwing Hato in at LCB right away is a huge risk. What an unfortunate and unexpected mess all of a sudden before the season even starts.
