Guehi to Liverpool apparently off now! They could be seriously vulnerable with 1 injury to a CB. They’ve looked super shaky even with VVD and Konate fit. As hard as we will need to pray for João Pedro’s health, Liverpool need to do the same for VVD at age 35 or whatever he is.

Did George’s move fall through? Haven’t seen anything since this morning.

Overall I’d give our window a 6.5 or 7 out of 10. Delap, João Pedro, and Hato are all excellent buys for me. We brought in Estevão who looks great already. Santos and Essugo look like they’ll be very useful. So in terms of beefing up our squad with quality depth we’ve done very well. But the signings of Gittens, Garnacho, and Buononotte are very 50/50 and we won’t know if these are good buys for several months once we’ve seen them play a run of games. No new top keeper, no new top CB. Left ourselves dangerously thin up top after the Delap injury. Most annoyingly, we KNEW that we needed 1 more difference making attacker and identified both Xavi & later Fermin to fill that role. But after getting every fan so excited we were hamstrung by being unable to sell Jackson. So overall we bought decently, sold mostly extremely well, improved the squad but didn’t improve it enough, and still have some unresolved issues. Not amazing, not poor. Just “pretty good” I would say.

Where they’re vulnerable is defensively and in the DM positions with just a couple of injuries. Even when Salah is out of form he can still cause defenders nightmares and you’ve always got to respect him. If they lose VVD they’re in big trouble against the other top teams. Now there’s apparently trouble with the Guehi deal. They really need him since Konate has been shit and also got injured yesterday.

We would’ve heard something hours ago if anything else was a possibility. Our incoming business is over. All about whether we can flog the last of the deadwood. How we’re going to move them when nothing appears close is beyond me.
-
Sterling? Chilwell? Disasi?

German side saying that Jackson’s obligation only kicks in after a certain number of apparences. So Bayern can absolutely fuck us over and play games here as payback for this whole saga. Leave him 1 appearnece shy of what’s needed for the clause to kick in.
-
As long as that obligation for Jackson is a classic obligation where they MUST buy him no matter what then it’s a brilliant deal. If it’s the kind of obligation that Knly triggers if Jackson scores a certain amount of goals or makes a certain number of appearances or something like that then it’s a shit deal.

We basically need to say a prayer before every match that João Pedro stays fit. Closing the summer transfer window TWO SEASON’S IN A ROW with 1 senior striker for the foreseeable future is madness.
-
Fulham is a brilliant move for Tyrique. Gets to stay home in London and develop under a fantastic manager. Probably would’ve been wise to include some sort of buy back clause in case he blows up.
-
He looks completely useless up there. Like a fish out of water.
-
Over or under 1 PL start for Buononotte? I’m going to go under. The new Amougu.
-
We’re now basically gambling our entire season on João Pedro staying fully fit the entire way and for Palmer to return to and stay in his Super Saiyan form the whole time as well. Also, it now looks like Tyrique George’s move has fallen through. Another player whose future we’ve now fucked up right at the end of the window.
-
Spot on. I like almost all of the buys we’ve made. Gittens and Garnacho I’ll have to wait and see. But we needed 1 or 2 more TOP signings to do serious damage in the league and UCL. Another scrap with Newcastle for 4th is what we’re in for I fear.
-
We’ll have ended this window with a DEEPER squad but will we have taken enough of a step forward in terms of QUALITY? That’s the big question. Because both Liverpool & Arse have improved the latter considerably. We once again took massive gambles on a bunch of young players whereas as they both bought all sure fire, ready made players. I don’t see how we get near those two which I thought for sure we would a few weeks back.
-
That’s the thing, Maresca doesn’t even fancy Guiu! He barely used him even when Jackson was stinking up the place or was injured! If something happens to Pedro we’ll probably be seeing different false 9’s.
-
Imagine a scenario where João Pedro picks up an injury when away with Brazil. Or comes back and picks up an injury shortly after. We would be completely fucked.
-
Unless we learn now that Delap’s injury isn’t so bad and he’s only out for a few weeks then the club have had an absolute mare of an end to the window. Attacking a grueling season where we’re in 4 comps, had no preseason, and have already suffered multiple key injuries with João Pedro who isn’t even a natural #9 and a super raw teenager who we didn’t think was good enough for us and was on loan for that reason is pure insanity.
-
This simply cannot happen. The club surely can’t be this fucking stupid.
-
Holy shit, the club is actually briefing now that because Guiu is now back that we have enough cover to allow Jackson to go. A 19 year old kid who was 3rd choice already at Sunderland and who Maresca didn’t fancy much last season even when Jackson was our only senior striker.
-
So the reporting last night was that it’s possible Delap’s injury is even worse than first feared. Now we may send Jackson to Bayern after all? Why? Joao Pedro & Guiu as our strikers for months and months? Surely not…
-
Mere hours left in the window and ZERO indication that Sterling, Chilwell, and Disasi are remotely close to moves away. Tyrique Gerorge either who now finds 2 new LW at the club blocking his path to minutes.
-
Brother….if we now let Jackson go and keep Guiu after all of this… It better be a full sale and not a loan so that we can go out and buy an attacking player. Or else this will have been a terrible end to the window.
-
Woltemade is at least a young talent who has shown enough for top teams to think he could develop into a star. There’s a reason Bayern tried their usual stealing of another German club’s best player. Paying £55m for Wissa is crazy to me despite him having a good season. Could’ve got the much younger Jackson for just a little more.
-
Yeah, Jackson is definitely staying now. That’s a crazy fee for Wissa tbh. Have no idea why the fuck we’ve recalled Guiu.
