  1. Garnacho was always spoken about by these reporters as basically a “bonus” signing at the very end after we’ve already secured Xavi and whichever other priority signings. That’s why it almost didn’t seem as bad. But if we’re now pushing ahead with him before Xavi it tells me that it’s Simons that was actually the one we’ll move for if the price is right but isn’t a priority.
  2. If we pay more than £35m for Garnacho we’re getting massively ripped off. Mason Mount levels of scamming us like we did them.
  3. Would we even be able to afford a new CB with the UEFA FFP shit after we potentially sign both Xavi & Garnacho?
  4. If this club signs Garnacho first and then decides not to push through Xavi…
  5. Having 6 total CB’s would be fine if some of them were talented academy lads who would be fine getting limited minutes here and there in the cups. Having 6 CB’s when they’re all starting caliber senior pros is overkill imo even with UCL football.
  6. Thing is, if you sign Guehi what happens when Colwill returns? We already have 3 RCB’s, 2 of which are super solid in Trev and Tosin. So saying that we’d just shift Guehi over there once Colwill is back isn’t so straightforward.
  7. He said something like “Colwill felt something at the end of the session.” My mind immediately went to hamstring.
  8. I’d be surprised if we go into the market for a new CB unless he’s out for several months. Buying an expensive CB only for Colwill to be back in a few weeks would create quite the headache. On the other hand, Badiashile also happens to be injured for all we know and we sent Sarr back to Strasbourg so it’s a real problem area all of a sudden. Throwing Hato in at LCB right away is a huge risk. What an unfortunate and unexpected mess all of a sudden before the season even starts.
  9. He should absolutely go for that same sort of money. But can we get someone to pay it is the tricky bit. Guess it depends on how desperate Newcastle is. Very desperate we should hope!
  10. I could maybe see us accepting them giving us a big chunk this summer and another installment next summer. But you’re almost certainly correct that if we demand it all at once there’s no chance Newcastle pay £80m.
  11. They’re shite now. They won’t be if they address their biggest weaknesses in midfield and in net. No European football and being able to focus solely on the PL will be a big advantage for them.
  12. I think that’s exactly what this is. Monster outlay in a desperate attempt to get UCL football. Because they’re fucked if they allow the current top 4 to run away from them and lock them out like it looked as though they would thus far in the window. With their debt situation they NEED to be in the UCL going forward or they’re screwed. Baleba + Donnarumma to add to Cunha, Mbeumo, and Šeško would surely be £300m+ window. All players I rate other than Šeško.
  13. So yet another summer when all the journalists said at the start of the window that Man United are broke and MUST sell to buy and then they go out and spend crazy money. They haven’t sold 1 player yet. I would hate it if they can pull this off. Baleba has legitimate world class potential just like Caicedo did leaving Brighton. And it would annoy the shit out of me if Brighton suddenly capitulate and let him go for reasonable money after taking us to the cleaners whenever we negotiated with them. He + a new keeper would be transformative for United and make them a genuine threat to us and the others in the top 4.
  14. I think he’d do well there, tbh. Not Isak well but better than anyone else they could get at this point.
  15. Newcastle fans are freaking out about the idea of signing Jackson. As if they’re way too good for him. 🤣
  16. You’d have to assume that Liverpool know Isak is coming for them to allow Darwin to go leaving them with only Ekitike for the time being. Which in turn means that Newcastle must have something in place with a new striker since they can’t let Isak leave before that. Wonder if we get news of a Jackson bid today.
  17. Darwin to Saudi means one less option for Newcastle. There was some talk about him going the other way as part of the Isak deal. Jackson going there seeming more and more like their last, best option.
  18. Notoriously slow Man United who usually take a month to make every signing have swooped in and signed Šeško in 2 days. Meanwhile, we’ve been negotiating with Simons for nearly 3 weeks and no bid. Will the move still happen? Probably. But would’ve been very helpful to have him in for at least one of this weekend’s preseason matches. Ben Jacobs says that Newcastle have Leipzig’s other striker Openda on their list, btw. If the Sesko move doesn’t affect their stance with Xavi, surely they would change their mind if Newcastle throw money at them for Openda. So again, we need to push to get this done asap.
  19. For Fabrizio to now sound this certain I think it’s got to be Newcastle, right? They must have pushed today and confirmed behind the scenes after Sesko informed them that he’s choosing United.
  20. CWC badge would’ve looked cooler on the shoulder perhaps.
  21. Might be Newcastle or bust. And they might go for Watkins now that Villa have signed this guy.
  22. Doesn’t he have like 8 kids? I can’t see him wanting to uproot his family and move to Saudi.
  23. Estevão seems like the kind of kid who has loads of confidence and belief in himself so I think he’ll settle quickly. Very excited to see him in action. Going to assume that he’ll be gradually eased in rather than get big minutes in the PL right away. Hopefully the trainers and dieticians at Cobham can bulk him up and fill out his frame a bit over the next season. Because that’s the only concern I have. He’s really skinny and small which means lots of thuggish goons from these smaller clubs are going to try to beat the shit out of him.
  24. For that to happen he’d likely have to slash his wage by two thirds. No club is going to pay him even half of what we are currently. That’s what makes his situation so terrible.
  25. Still no word of an actual bid for Xavi despite being in advanced talks for 2+ weeks now. Both Newcastle and United have been quick to officially bid for Sesko to Leipzig. I hope they’re fine selling both because it looks like that sale will happen first.
