  1. They’re shite now. They won’t be if they address their biggest weaknesses in midfield and in net. No European football and being able to focus solely on the PL will be a big advantage for them.
  2. I think that’s exactly what this is. Monster outlay in a desperate attempt to get UCL football. Because they’re fucked if they allow the current top 4 to run away from them and lock them out like it looked as though they would thus far in the window. With their debt situation they NEED to be in the UCL going forward or they’re screwed. Baleba + Donnarumma to add to Cunha, Mbeumo, and Šeško would surely be £300m+ window. All players I rate other than Šeško.
  3. So yet another summer when all the journalists said at the start of the window that Man United are broke and MUST sell to buy and then they go out and spend crazy money. They haven’t sold 1 player yet. I would hate it if they can pull this off. Baleba has legitimate world class potential just like Caicedo did leaving Brighton. And it would annoy the shit out of me if Brighton suddenly capitulate and let him go for reasonable money after taking us to the cleaners whenever we negotiated with them. He + a new keeper would be transformative for United and make them a genuine threat to us and the others in the top 4.
  4. I think he’d do well there, tbh. Not Isak well but better than anyone else they could get at this point.
  5. Newcastle fans are freaking out about the idea of signing Jackson. As if they’re way too good for him. 🤣
  6. You’d have to assume that Liverpool know Isak is coming for them to allow Darwin to go leaving them with only Ekitike for the time being. Which in turn means that Newcastle must have something in place with a new striker since they can’t let Isak leave before that. Wonder if we get news of a Jackson bid today.
  7. Darwin to Saudi means one less option for Newcastle. There was some talk about him going the other way as part of the Isak deal. Jackson going there seeming more and more like their last, best option.
  8. Notoriously slow Man United who usually take a month to make every signing have swooped in and signed Šeško in 2 days. Meanwhile, we’ve been negotiating with Simons for nearly 3 weeks and no bid. Will the move still happen? Probably. But would’ve been very helpful to have him in for at least one of this weekend’s preseason matches. Ben Jacobs says that Newcastle have Leipzig’s other striker Openda on their list, btw. If the Sesko move doesn’t affect their stance with Xavi, surely they would change their mind if Newcastle throw money at them for Openda. So again, we need to push to get this done asap.
  9. For Fabrizio to now sound this certain I think it’s got to be Newcastle, right? They must have pushed today and confirmed behind the scenes after Sesko informed them that he’s choosing United.
  10. CWC badge would’ve looked cooler on the shoulder perhaps.
  11. Might be Newcastle or bust. And they might go for Watkins now that Villa have signed this guy.
  12. Doesn’t he have like 8 kids? I can’t see him wanting to uproot his family and move to Saudi.
  13. Estevão seems like the kind of kid who has loads of confidence and belief in himself so I think he’ll settle quickly. Very excited to see him in action. Going to assume that he’ll be gradually eased in rather than get big minutes in the PL right away. Hopefully the trainers and dieticians at Cobham can bulk him up and fill out his frame a bit over the next season. Because that’s the only concern I have. He’s really skinny and small which means lots of thuggish goons from these smaller clubs are going to try to beat the shit out of him.
  14. For that to happen he’d likely have to slash his wage by two thirds. No club is going to pay him even half of what we are currently. That’s what makes his situation so terrible.
  15. Still no word of an actual bid for Xavi despite being in advanced talks for 2+ weeks now. Both Newcastle and United have been quick to officially bid for Sesko to Leipzig. I hope they’re fine selling both because it looks like that sale will happen first.
  16. Only way I’d take a new CB this summer is if it was a clear and significant upgrade on who’s already here. Guehi is absolutely not a clear upgrade on either Trev or Tosin. Even if you might say he’s better it’s not significant enough to warrant a big fee or selling one of the ones we have. Along with goalkeeper and the defensive midfield positions, I think CB is a place where we assess how things go this season and then go big for top players next summer if necessary. Selling or replacing Trev or Tosin after the extremely solid season’s they both just had would be super harsh. And I was a Chalobah skeptic when we first decided to bring him back.
  17. I see the Jackson brief has gone out. To me that sounds like one of Newcastle or Man United have expressed behind the scenes that whichever of them fails to land Sesko will pursue Nico. I can still see the long talked about Jackson for Garnacho swap happenening in some shape or form.
  18. Sterling and Chilly will almost surely be deadline day desperation loans somewhere with us covering most of their wages, sadly. I can’t see anyone buying them with their wages. If they were on more modest wages I think they’d already be long gone.
  19. Completely agree. Even if I was offered both for the same price I’d rather have Delap. We’re going to end up paying about the same for both Delap and Pedro as Sesko is going to go for.
  20. €90m for Sesko is mental. This dude didn’t even tear it up in a league where we saw Werner and Nkunku put up awesome numbers. He has massive flop written all over him at that price. Would be pretty funny to watch United flail around and try to scramble for a different striker if Šeško goes to Newcastle, though.
  21. I feel like it’s just slightly risky to sell Jackson now that Guiu is going out on loan. A long, grueling campaign with only 2 strikers could be tricky, though we definitely have enough attacking mids to play a strikerless system if necessary.
  22. Brother tweets this EVERYDAY with the words rearranged. 😂😂😂
  23. There’s no chance Rogers would be allowed to go this late in the window. Especially when Villa are having a nightmare of a window being unable to sign anyone.
  24. Don’t think it’s been made official yet, has it?
  25. Yep, unless Xavi’s signing depends entirely on us selling Nkunku first. Or George. Then we could be stalled for another week or two…
