Incredible how static everyone was there. Fucking shocking defending. So comfortable early in and now this, ffs.
-
Not to jinx it or anything but that Napoli team does not look scary at all whatsoever. I don’t see any player that stands out as someone to worry about like in seasons past when they had Kvara. Of course we have regularly seen us look terrible and lose to shocking opponents so it may not matter…
-
I don’t mind him there in an emergency against some weak opposition. But against a really good team in a must win UCL game away from home? Ehhhh.
-
Reece at CB? wtf…
-
Why the fuck would we interrupt a great loan for Anselmino where he was comfortable and highly thought of by that club if we haven’t even definitively decided that he’s staying? Sounds like this was completely done by the directors with no real say from Rosenoir and he said yesterday that he hadn’t even spoken with the player yet.
-
Makes you wonder why we didn’t do this months ago. Guess we’ve been trying desperately behind the scenes to find an interested club to buy him and there were zero takers so this was the last resort.
-
I wonder if in some funny way Rosenoir gives us an advantage with Jacques choosing us since he will know him well from managing in France. He can explain to the lad how he has studied him closely and has a specific big role in mind for him. That plus having other French players in our squad might swing it. If it all comes down to wages then obviously we’ll be blown out of the water. Tbh, I’m not that bothered either way. I feel like there will be plenty of CB options in the summer including those already on our books.
-
With the first part of my prediction coming true about how the club would brief that “we like our own guys” once we didn’t get Douglas Luiz, next I think the other prediction comes true by the end of the week. We’ll tell everyone that we are targeting some super unrealistic names for the summer. Yildiz and Julian Alvarez are my guesses.
-
Lavia will again look awesome in his first match or two back and then he will mysteriously vanish from sight for 3 weeks after which it will be announced that he got injured again.
-
Rosenoir will probably be told to say that Lavia and Anselmino are like new signings so we didn’t need to bring anyone in at his next press conference.
-
Ornstein’s latest tweet, I fucking called it! 🤣🤣🤣 We dipped our toes in for some midfield cover, didn’t push very hard, and are now just going to stick with what we have. I’m fine with us not pushing hard for Luiz but we better pray that Moi stays fit if we aren’t getting another body in.
-
It’s funny reading all these guys treating Douglas Luiz as some huge transfer. Fabrizio with a bomb emoji and others saying “Villa beat Chelsea to Douglas Luiz!” as if we tried super hard and wanted him really badly. This is a guy who can’t get into the midfield of a team fighting relegation currently and wouldn’t have been near our first XI.
-
What I predict: we will see all the journalists tweet the same brief simultaneously in the last couple of days of the window saying “Chelsea looked really hard for players that could help them for the rest of the season but have decided that internal solutions made more sense. They’re going to save that money and go bkg in the summer instead.” And then they’ll list a bunch of exciting names we have no shot at to calm the supporters who are angry we didn’t do anything in January. Anselmino will be our CB solution and Lavia returning will be our midfield solution. Tbh, Anselmino can be very useful if he actually plays. Counting on Lavia to not pick up a 3 month injury getting out of his bed in the morning would be a huge mistake.
-
Yep. If his options were riding Forest’s bench or riding ours he was probably ready to jump at the chance. But if his options are now ride our bench or go back to the club he already knows well, performed very well at, and will actually start plenty of games due to their injuries it’s a no brainer. I don’t think a single Chelsea supporter is going to be bothered that we didn’t get him.
-
Seems like Douglas Luiz is more likely to go back to Villa now. So we should be hearing quickly who the other options are. At this point it’s probably going to be a Buonanotte V2 type who barely sees the pitch since no quality midfielder is going to move with mere days left in the window.

The Palmer to United thing is such a nothingburger. Even these jokers in charge wouldn’t dare sell our best player to a direct PL rival. Sending unwanted or unneeded fringe players to other PL teams is one thing. Selling the best and most popular player and the face of the club to a place where he’d haunt us for years is the kind of thing that would rightly cause a fan revolt. Also, in an era where players are now regularly going for £100m+ I don’t think we should even entertain a Palmer sale to anyone for less than £150m. And that would only be if Real Madrid came in for him. If United try to come in and unsettle him this summer we shouldn’t even pick up the phone to discuss it with them.
-
True, but he’d have a younger version of himself next to him to make up for his declining physical abilities. Let me dream! 🥹
-
Bring Kante. Forget Douglas Luiz. I wanna see a midfield pairing of my all time fav Chelsea player and my current fav Chelsea player at least once before he retires. Imagine if we advance in the UCL and the teams we face in Europe see Kante + Caicedo on the team sheet. I don’t care how old he is, that’s terrifying for anyone.
-
The other weird thing about recalling him is that we have repeatedly been told that we either want a central CB who controls the buildup from deep or a left footed, left sided CB who plays the Colwill role. From all the footage I’ve watched of Anselmino at Dortmund he plays pretty much exclusively on the right side of the defense. So much so that he almost occupies the RB area. We’ve currently got Josh, Trev, and Fofana who are all natural RCB competing for that spot and Josh is struggling to do so as it is.
-
I really like the look of Anselmino and have since we bought him. Has the potential to be a top player. But unless Rosenoir himself is the one who really fancied bringing him back and it was HIS idea to play him meaningful minutes in place of Badiashile and Tosin surely it made more sense to leave him at Dortmund to develop further. If this was the directors just bringing him back as squad filler who will ride the bench as emergency cover because they failed to get Jacquet that would be fucked up. He clearly loved it there at BVB and judging by the reactions from their supporters and the club itself they really thought highly of him too.
-
You’re right, he can’t be trusted. But if he is indeed fit what do we do with him if a new midfielder is brought in? Hard to see where he’d get minutes if Caicedo, Enzo, Santos, and some new guy are all available.
-
Hard to know what to believe these days. The club have moved in a really strange manor when it comes to briefing the media. Feels like we hear “Chelsea have moved for ____,” and then it’s just total silence for ages and we don’t hear about any advancement. Like the Douglas Luiz thing. That brief went out a week ago we haven’t heard a peep since. So are we actually after another midfielder or not? Lavia apparently posted that he’s back fit so does that change the thinking? Not that he’ll be fit for longer than 5 minutes of course.
-
Would certainly hope so but there were already stories popping up in previous windows about him considering a move away. He agreed to stay because he had been getting opportunities. Now that he’s not I wonder if he’ll get his head turned by another big club. Especially if we’re bringing another CB in.
-
I’m fine with us not spending silly money on Jacquet this month for sure. But if a CB HAS to come in (which we clearly feel is the case) I’d have preferred we went and got an experienced head who instantly slots into that LCB role that Badi played today.
-
Really wonder what goes on with Josh in training for both Maresca and now Rosenoir to not fancy him so much. He is a super talent and miles better than Badiashile and Tosin yet can’t get consistent playing time. If we’re actually thinking of selling him as a “pure profit” move I think it’ll go worse for us than Guehi did. If we are dumb enough to sell him to another big club like Bayern we will badly regret it I think.
