  1. He’s basically a like for like swap for KDH. Except this season we don’t have the Conference League to give someone like this a bunch of minutes to.
  2. Watching his highlights and you can see there’s a super talented young kid there. But is he Chelsea first team ready? The huge allure of Xavi and Fermín was that they are fully established, ready to go day 1 players who can come in and take us up a level from the off. They are elite “between the lines” killers. So how do you go from that profile to someone like Buonotte who is basically a learner driver?
  3. Reading these Romano and Jacobs tweets, this reminds me exactly of the Amougu transfer last winter window. Getting some random kid in and just keeping him warm until he can go to Strasbourg next window/summer. Will never see the pitch.
  4. Like Chelsea YouTuber Younes just said, this HAS to be all because we couldn’t move Jackson for a huge fee. The UEFA penalty has fucked up our plans. A loan for a kid who will almost surely be given the same treatment by Maresca as Felix or Nkunku. Will never play.
  5. From Simons to Fermín to a random kid who Brighton don’t even care to keep around?
  6. Why? Just why? Why waste money on yet another young kid who plays in that position when we’ve got Quenda coming in next summer and are now loaded with young wingers?
  7. Looking that way unless some team swoops in for Jackson with a huge offer. Btw, what’s going on with Tyrique George? Felt like something was happening last week with Roma and we’ve heard nothing since. Surely he HAS to go with Garnacho now here.
  8. Hopefully we get a briefing from all the reliable guys today about who it is we’re going for. Or if we even will at all. Like an update on whether Fermín is keen to leave or not.
  9. Palmer out of the England squad due to his injury. So that surely means he’s missing this match as well. Strangely, Trev was left out of the squad too despite him being so impressive lately. Hope that’s not because of an injury.
  10. Wharton will cost twice what Xavi does when he eventually leaves Palace. Definitely not a cheaper alternative.
  11. Now THIS would be pure idiocy. Another tiny teenager when we’ve already got so many on our books in these attacking areas.
  12. Yeah, Wharton is the kind of midfielder you replace Enzo with if he were ever sold. He’s a pure CM who controls the tempo of the game from deeper. For months now we’ve been told that we want a more advanced, attacking midfielder.
  13. Yeah, I see the tweets on my feed. It’s just laughable to me. Not only does he not play the same position as Xavi or Fermín, but he’s someone who Palace would surely demand Baleba money for.
  14. Lmao! Oh, come on. Amazing midfield talent but he’s a #8 who plays more centrally.
  15. If it’s not Xavi and it’s not Fermín because he doesn’t want to leave Barca, I’m really scratching my head here. As I said last night, Rogers feels like he’d be out of the question this late in the window. So what other high quality #10 types are even available at this point? Who’s going to want to sell their key attacking player with no time to replace them?
  16. The club briefing from MattLaw that “bridges have been mended” between Chelsea and Tottenham and that’s why we won’t hijack literally made me laugh out loud.
  17. What’s bad is how long we’ve been after him. If we had jumped in this week and missed out on him then whatever. It’s the fact that this has been going on for weeks and weeks and led to nothing. We’ve been told by reporter after reporter that Nkunku leaving was THE key to “unlocking Xavi to Chelsea.” The very day Nkunku goes we see Xavi to Spuds. All I want to know is why we refused to bid after all this time. Someone needs to tell us.
  18. Beaten by Spuds to a signing we’ve chased for nearly 2 months. 🤢
  19. Rogers is a pretty different profile to Xavi & Fermín Lopez. Those two are super technical, tidy, Pep/Barca prototypes. Whereas Rogers is all about pace, power, and athleticism. I would’ve suggested we keep an eye on Paqueta as a more realistic fallback option but he’s far too old for our board.
  20. Everyone in the replies to that tweet saying Rogers but the thought of Villa selling him with mere days left in the window seems far fetched. Unless Jackson goes the other way…
  21. One last Hail Mary for Xavi tomorrow or nothing it’s looking like. Convincing Fermin to leave his beloved boyhood club was always going to be a massive uphill battle. Unless there’s some random, completely out of the blue Ornstein bomb in the final couple of days.
  22. At least we should finally have complete clarity around Xavi tomorrow one way or another. He ain’t gonna wait around twiddling his thumbs in London all the way to the end of deadline day. If we don’t put in offer in within the next 24 hours he’s going to Spuds. At least we’ll have some finality.
  23. Unless Villa or some big club completely out of the blue suddenly jump in it looks like Jackson’s options for a permanent move have dried up. We’ve priced him so high that everyone called our bluff. If it’s true that Jackson needs to go permanently in order for us to make any signing post Garnacho then I don’t see it at the moment. Him going out on loan may not be enough for us.
  24. Ben Jacobs saying Barca want €60m whilst the Spanish sources saying Barca are adamant about keeping him and would only sell for €90m. Are Barca still in registration trouble? Can they really afford to turn down €60m?
  25. Is he? Maresca seems to like highly technical players and we play against low blocks and buses quite often. Garnacho is not very effective in those matches. At his best for United he was a solid weapon as a counter attacking threat where he can use his pace and energy to run in behind teams. How often are we going to be pinned back and playing on the counter?
