Bently is the sort of winger we should steer clear of! We need someone with pace and skill who can cause problems to the defences. We need to speed our play up for next season not keep it at the same pace. A lot does depend on how we intend to play next season, if it is 4-3-3 or 4-4-2! I agree with Elliott that Sinclair should be given more of a chance next season. If we do go 4-4-2 i would like to see him play as a striker as he was originally as i think he would flourish there playing off another striker.
-
I agree on the wingers, we definately need 1 and probably 2 with SWP a definate out and also Malouda providing we can find and sign 2 top class wingers. We also do need another top class striker no matter if Drogba stays or not. It also depends of what formation we are intending to play. If we are going 4-4-2 then we definately need another world class striker. But if we are going 4-3-3 i think we need a creative midfielder. The imminent arrival of Bosingwa will mean the defence will stay untouched. Bosingwa and Ferreira our right backs (with Ivanovich for cover) Terry, Carvalho, Alex and Ivanovic our centre backs and A.Cole and Bridge left backs - Belletti and Ben Haim to leave... Still the most important thing to know is the management scenario - which we won't know till after the CL Final, but we should be told asap
-
Now that the season is officially over barring the CL final for us of course. It is that time again where we discuss and look forward to what we can expect over the summer and the comming season. We clearly have some transfer targets in mind and they are plainly already being tied down as we speak. Personally i want to know immediately, preferably the day after the CL what the situation is with regards to the management. We need to be told immediately one way or the other, wither Grant is staying or he isn't. The club know and once the season is officially over for us we should be told and not left hanging... Priority number 1 is definately knowing once and for all where we stand with the management. Once we know that we can start looking at what we can expect from next season...
-
Well thats the other thing isn't it. Who's signing is this? This means that either Grant IS here for next season, or the replacement has been decided long ago and we are already targeting his wanted players? Either way it is good because right back is a real issue still and has been for a very very long time, hopefully Bosingwa can be the man to finally sort the position out....
-
So it seems that we can expect the deal to be fully tied up by the end of the day. Certainly looks like we want to get any summer transfer dealing done as quickly as possible..... obviously doesn't always work out. Right back is one position we desperately needed to fill. Ramos, Alves and Bosingwa were the outstanding candidates and it looks like we have gone for Bosingwa

Lol, that award is cursed!!! We will now lose both the League and the CL.....

New Manager Search, Summer 2008

Lol It is becomming a very weird situation. There are a group of people who are willing to give Grant another season now. There are then the people who want him out, a lot of those people have no idea who they want to replace him with and reject names like Rijkaard, Eriksson and Laudrup ect... most of the time the names that come up are a bit silly to say the least, with people like Wise, Zola or Steve Clarke to take the job. For me the bottom line is that i don't think Grant is good enough to take us to the level we want to go, however considering where have ended up this season i could see the logic of giving it another season. I would prefer though given the current situation to see us sieze the oppertunity to bring in a decent attacking minded manger to take us forward, Rijkaard is available and i think we should go for it with him. For me i can't think of many better qualified people to do what we are looking to do. -

I am suprised at the ammount of people who would not be happy to see Rijkaard here! I think he is pretty much the perfect candidate for us, has won big cups, his teams play the attacking football that a lot of people crave, proven that he is willing to bring youngsters through to the first team......for whatever reason it has fallen apart at Barca, you could tell this season his heart wasn't in it!! I for one would be happy to him appointed in the summer. -

IF someone new does come in, at the moment it is looking like a toss up between Rijkaard and Eriksson, with Rijkaard being the clear favourtie now for the job that it is confirmed he is leaving Barca. -
Yup Drogba always seems to do well and score in the finals!!! I am sure he will be in the mood to score in this one. Carvalho has been fantastic again this season and i am sure he will pick up the player of the year award tonight.....
-
I am suprisingly confident of this game!! We are in some great form and Manure are not so much. We can contain their threat while offering our own. I think it will be a 2 - 1 win for us.... Can't wait
-
If City is their prefered option then i would doubt we are seriously looking at making an offer. No European football for City but he would prefer to go there?
-
The figures have come down somewhat today to a more realistic £20m..... would be a good purchase and aparently he is not happy there so could be willing to force a move from Madrid.
-
Lol, why would there be any pressure on them? Why would they care who wins the league? As footballers all they will want to do is go out there and do their best to win the game..... All we can do is sit there and hope that while we are sticking the goals past Bolton, Wigan are doing the business against United..
-
There is no pressure on them at all. Which could make it easier for them to go out and produce a good performance!
-
It is certainly not beyond the realms of reality to believe that Wigan can get a draw out of United. Their pitch is a cabbage patch which will make it harder for their most imfluential player Ronaldo to do his thing, and they don't have the players suited to play the long ball.
-
Looking back it probably would have been better for Jose to leave in the summer. We may have got another manager other than Grant had that happened. It is easy though to look back and see what should have happened, the descisions were made and this is where we all are! Jose will get another top job in the summer and we have ended the season with a shot at the PL and CL double......
-
If a player is that good and if their club is willing to let him go for that money and we have that money and want the player that badly then we would pay it......
-
You could say that us dropping points cost us, but looking at it realistically Manure also dropped silly points - if they hadn't have dropped them then we wouldn't even be close!!!! We have done fantastic to even probably ending up on the same points as Man you and losing on goal difference!
-
Messi is absolutely outstanding and i would not be up in arms if we did pay £80m for him!! At his age and with his ability it would be worth it. Although i can't see them selling, they will cash in on some players this summer i feel, Ronaldinho, Eto'o, Deco ect..... but Messi is the one player that they will hold onto no matter what!! To join in with the Kakuta debate, both are correct really. Kakuta does look like being world class. He certainly has more natural ability that both Forsell and Carlton Cole. But we don't know how the next few years of development will go. Will he suffer what i call second season syndrome? Which both Sinclair, Stoch, Sahar and Woods suffered from, outstanding first seasons but found it much harder in the second...... we really don't know for sure yet.
-
It doesn't matter if Bruce is ex-Man you, you try telling the Wigan players to not go out there to try and beat Man you. It is most certainly possible and lets hope that Wigan can hold out for a draw!!
-
Newcastle have started to put a good run together now, although i do feel they are very still defensively and we can expose that and we should be able to cope and win this game fairly comfortably. With 3 games to go and nice rests inbetween games i would say put our best team out in every game now! No-one has played too many games this season. I would say maybe rest Joe because he is looking a little jaded and he is the only player to make over 40 appearances this season...... Time to carry on this momentum we have and give the double a f**king good go...

Forget the Jose comparisons, they are pointless. Grant will NEVER compare to Jose and i doubt there are many that will.............. -
Not even that, just needed stronger hands IMO...... Still, take nothing away from what was overall a top top class performance. 2 games in a few days against the Mancs and the Scouse vermin have given us a massive lift, and hopefully a platform to build on for next season to do something really special.
-
Cech should have done better with that shot in truth but thankfully it didn't matter. It was a proper game though thats for sure.........................
