  1. I saw in another forum a user suggest that Malouda might try and play his way to a new contract, he has point to be fair.
  2. Because most of their reasoning behind not wanting Cavani and calling him "Crapani" amoungst other things was Torres 'might' come good. We won't stick to 4-2-3-1 all season long, not if we want to get anywhere, yes we will start playing that way, but eventually teams will start to suss us so we will have to change, the system RDM decides to change too could require 2 forwards, which is where a Cavani and Torres partnership will come in, dont rule Danny out of that equation either.
  3. Look at the history of the premier league, the Champions almost always were the previous season's champions or the previous season's 2nd place side, there has only been 3 exceptions to the rule and all those times the teams went from 3rd to 1st, history suggest's that the title is usually between the previous season's top two with the 3rd place side having an outside shot.
  4. I said earlier in this thread this was going to happen, he is staying we better just get use to it and get behind him. Just be grateful the other 75% of the frustrating quartet are gone.
  5. I fully agree with Justin in this case. This time last year excuses for Torres were valid, not settled in London yet, lack of service, not had a proper break for 3 years, getting use to new team mates and yet to have a full pre season here. Yes they were valid excuses at the time, all of those excuses were wiped out last summer yes including the service excuse, the second Mata came through the door that was the case. The fact is he has not had one game yet where we can look back and say, that is what we spent £50m for, if we spent the same amount on Cavani he will probably be leading Torres in that respect after 3 games, at worse. The excuses made for Nando are quite frankly terrifying, ive was scouring through other forum's today and some Chelsea fans (ie members of the OTT Torres fanclub) were as good as protesting against Cavani coming here, a couple of people resorted to calling him Crapani  i genuinely could not believe my eyes. The bottom line is for most of his Chelsea career to date, Torres has been absolute shit, has made Kalou look like Messi most of the time.
  6. I swear i see this sign x player and y will be sold myth on every single thread these days. Cavani is 25, in 4 years time he will be 29, Torres will be 32 (most likely gone) and Lukaku will be 22. Cavani coming in will not block Lukaku long term in anyway shape or form, if anything Lukaku will learn from him and make him a better player.
  7. That would hardly be a shock
  8. While im waiting for the match i thought i would make my pre season predictions, do you agree. Premier League table 1. Manchester United - Fergie will not take what happened in May lying down, rumours of him bowing out next season and will look to do it on a high if their is any truth to it. 2. Manchester City - Great season last season but like ive said before i don't think they will dominate under Mancini and they will fall to 2nd. 3. Chelsea - 6th to 1st is too big a jump imho, add that to the new players that will probably be coming in, them gelling while bringing 3rd place and an attractive brand of football would be considered a great season for us. 4. Arsenal - For all of Wenger's faults in the last 7 season's, he sure knows how to keep Arsenal in the top four. 5. Tottenham - The fans will need to be patient with AVB and i can't see him getting top 4 in his first season. 6. Newcastle - Great season last season, got a great squad now and look like adding to it with Debuncy (spelling) as he wants to go there, won't be too far behind Spurs. 7. Fulham - Surprise package for me next season, Jol is a great coach and Fulham have some vastly under rated players. 8. Everton - Moyes will keep them competitive, but lack of depth will nullify a Europa bid. 9. Liverpool - Can't see Rodgers having anything other than a nightmare, brought into a big job after working miracles with a mid table team, you would have thought Liverpool would have learned from the Roy nightmare. 10. Sunderland - O Neil has got them playing again after the nightmare end for Bruce, can see a solid 10th place finish for the Black Cats. 11. Stoke - The Brittania is arguably the toughest place to visit after the big teams, but their poor away form will prevent them from making the top half. 12. West Ham - Say what you like about Big Sam's brand of football, but it gets results. 13. Aston Villa - Won't do anywhere near as bad as under McLeish, but have a lot to do before they get close to the height of the O Neil reign. 14. QPR - Astute signing in Park and an experienced manager, they won't be threatened by relegation this time around but it's a season too early for a top half finish. 15. Reading - Will be on a high after promotion as champions last season, can see them having some momentum early in the season, which will keep them up. 16. West Brom - I think the loss of Roy might hit them a bit, but Steve is talented enough to keep West Brom up and i think he will with about 2 or 3 games to spare. 17. Wigan - They always find a way and i think they will again. 18. Norwich - 2nd season syndrome, manager gone, Holt unsettled, they will struggle and Wigan will just about pip the Canaries for safety. 19. Southampton - They play good football but i don't think they are strong enough to survive. 20. Swansea - The 2nd half of last season teams were working them out, i think they will be the shock strugglers and finish bottom. FA Cup - Chelsea Champions League - Real Madrid Carling Cup - Manchester City Promoted from the Championship - Bolton (as Champions), Leeds (runners up) and Birmingham (via play offs). Shock of the season - Blackburn to suffer back to back relegation's (if Keen stays incharge). What are your predictions? (PS great timing kick off for our friendly is approaching now )
  9. Yeah lets not sign the best forward in world football on the off chance a player who has played shite for 2 years comes good We might aswell offer Bolton £20m plus Hazard for N Gog while were at it, you never know he might show a few glimpses as to why Rafa signed him for Liverpool in the first place.
  10. We need to stop with these "starting Xl" lineups for next season. Their is no such thing as a first choice Xl any more, its a squad game these days, injury's and fatigue will mean any line up any of us draw out will probably be named 10 times a season if that. Its a squad game these days.
  11. The point im trying to make is, if we want to be succesful home or abroad we need a forward that will terrify United, City, Madrid, Bayern, Barca etc. Sturridge (im pro Danny btw) doesn't, Torres may have in the past but doesn't anymore, Cavani will be that forward. Pique will be shit scared of facing Cavani like he was Drogba, the other two won't worry him.
  12. I cannot believe some of the stuff i am reading. As much as i would love to see Torres come good and bang in the goals there is no guarentee it will happen, we decided against signing Falcao last summer on the off chance Torres will come good and it backfired, lets not make this same mistake again. If Torres really want's to show the fans he is back, then he will relish the competition Cavani would bring, you never know they might end up building a partnership, like the forward version of Duff and Robben (Robben's arrival supposedly spelt the end for Duff). But the main point is Cavani is world class, for my money the best forward on this planet, if he is available there is no way on earth we can let the opportunity slide on the off chance Torres will come good, absolutely no way. Plus Cavani is the closest Europe is likely to get to Didier Drogba for a long time.
  13. The service excuse is a year too old, when you look at the top of this chart.
  14. Anyone who does not want Cavani at Chelsea must be on drugs, i will pay for his flight here. He is 26 so he will give us his peak years, the best forward in world football and has a decent defensive side to his game, the massive void left by Didier will go along way to being filled by Edison's arrival. Relying on Torres and Danny is too risky, The jury is still out on Torres yes there is hope he can return to his best but there was last year and Danny is a talent but has little big game experience so relying on those 2 is risky and Lukaku is no where near ready. If its true that we can get him for £35m and 150k a week then as far as im concerned, bargain and by the time he has left (like with Drogba although not to the same extreme) it will look like peanuts.
  15. YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please make this happen
  16. We can't let Frank go for the reason's that we have let enough experience go this summer already including one of the spine of the team (Drogba). We can't let more than one of the previous spine leave at the same time as another, if we do we will slowly start to turn into Arsenal.
  17. He can still be a decent sub, the only problem last season was decent sub appearances turned into starts.
  18. @ChelseaChick there are simple way's around it tho, if he is asked a question about Chelsea then he responds with something like "Chelsea is in my past now and im looking forward to the future and that is with my job managing Tottenham Hotspurs". The way he has been talking about us shows that he isn't really learning from the mistakes he has made with us, which is why at the time i wanted us to stick with him because i thought he would eventually learn from his mistakes but he clearly isn't. Did Jose make similar comments when he joined Inter? or Carlo when appointed PSG manager? they had more reason to be bitter about their sacking's than AVB did.
  19. After what Lukaku said and what AVB has been saying about us ever since he has been appointed Spurs boss, it looks like Henrique might have been right after all. We will find out for sure at Spurs as he won't have "the players ruined it for him" line to fall back on.
  20. Didn't Van Der Vaart say a while back he preffered Harry's relaxed approach compared to Jose's tactical way of going about things? Wait till AVB has finished with him
  21. The fact that people cannot accept a not guilty verdict in a court of law is pretty worrying to say the least.
  22. On fifa he is the ultimate super sub.
  23. Fulham and West Brom are Liverpool's rivals, not us.
