It's true tho, that year showed that it would have been naive to rule Apoel out, let alone us and i was right

Big big difference between supporting him and making every excuse under the sun as to why he has failed to have a £50m game for us yet, i wish some could actually tell the fucking difference between the 2. I support him, doesn't change the fact i don't think he will ever be good enough to lead the line. I supported Bolourouz and Ben Haim despite the fact i knew full well both were utter donkeys. We really need to work out the line between supporting players and making excuses for them, the clear fact is Torres for 99% of his Chelsea career has made Kalou look like Pele, harsh but true.

We should wait until he scores winning goals and against big teams before we go pronouncing that he is back. He has a long way to go.
-
Gutted about this news tbh, they were going nowhere under Redknapp, they hit their ceiling and he has no grasp of tactics whatsoever.
-
If Liverpool want him, they pay atleast £40m, after spending £35m on Carroll they can fuck off if they think they can have Danny for just over half that.
-
Thankyou very much for that, would giuve you more rep if i could, look forward to our cup game this saturday, will be good.

I cant get on the game, what was my score today? Im The Fookers im playing away to UpTheChels

Until his little brother Van Der Wiel turns up

We should have a clause saying if he doesn't play x amount of minutes in x amount of games we should loan him out. Personally we forced premier loans on Kakuta and McEachran to quick, we should have done similar to what Tottenham did with this Caulker fella, start at a League one loan then Championship, then Premier.

Don't think he was THAT bad for us, only was considered a flop due to the price tag IMO. Having said that before his long lay off in Avram's season he was starting to look the part then his return at the end of the season he looked impressive too, why on earth was he not brought on in extra time in Moscow and Anelka was? Sheva's CL final experience could have been invaluable. Given he was starting to show signs off his old self, i believe Scolari should have given him a chance, i still to this day think he would have been a hit if we gave him 08/09.

Is it just me or does every "winger" these days prefer to drift in the centre before officially being a centre midfielder? How many pure wingers are their left?

Shit does that make Carroll better than Hazard?

The stick Sturridge get's is so bewildering i don't even know where to start. Remember seeing him on loan at Bolton and him seizing his chance, forcing his way into the team (something Kakuta, McEachran and Van Aanholt could not do on similar loan spells) scoring goals and lookin impressive. The slightest sniff off him leaving or going on loan again last summer had this and any other based Chelsea forum into near meltdown. Now remember who was coming up with the goods and keeping us in the race for 4th single handedly upto Christmas while Drogba and Torres just looked disinterested? yes Danny Sturridge and at that point he wasn't that far behind Mata in our run in for best player award, if he was atall. Just remember how on form he was back last Christmas and for Bolton rewind 6 months then rewind 1 year and tell me you want him to leave? The second half of the season he had a bit of a goal and performance drought, but this is his first season playing regularly for a team with big expectation's, it was going to happen sooner or later and the fact a young lad is getting stick for 1 minor goal drought but an experienced world cup winner is getting excuses made for him through 2 major drought's is wrong on so many levels (it's like sending down a 16 year old lad for sleeping with a under age girl once but making excuses for and letting off a 30 year old man who does the same thing as the young lad but does it twice). Yes he may be a bit greedy, well a lot, but he gets goals, give him a run of games and he will score. He was a bit upset about not playing "number 9" last season, but do you think he would be complaining if Falcao was playing for us and scoring week in week out? He was upset (and rightly so) because he was getting shafted to the wing to occupy and (at the time) out of form 33 year old and a Spaniard who went on 2 embarrassing goal drought's, while he was hungry and itching to prove himself in that position, can you blame him being frustrated watching others play their and be disinterested? He has bit's that need improving to his game but let him go and he will come back to haunt us big time, he deserves a shot at the "number 9" position a lot more than El Nino at this current time and personally if i was RDM he would be starting in that position in August.

any team with Jones and Young in won't dominate.
-
Boring? don't mistake boring for getting results, we scored 42 goals in 21 games under RDM.
-
well if all else falls through
-
If that is true it would be quite funny that despite that Liverpool still haven't managed to get above us in the league

im pretty sure a few United players in the past have referred to Ferguson as 'Fergie'. Maybe i should write a story, how Fergie's 25 year struggle with player power is about to reach the end.

Aldridge is such a bitter man it's scary. -
We can afford to risk making Torres main forward this season because in the Roman era we have never really had an fully in form forward bar a couple of season's from Drogba (when i mean in form i mean to the extent Henry was season after season for Arsenal or RVN for United). Our major strength in the Roman era has been goals all over the pitch, even our defenders chip in with more than the average. Hopefully next season Hazard will offer 10-15 goals, same with Danny and Mata, likewise Hulk if he joins, hopefully Marin can give us 7-10, Lampard 10, Ramires 10, Luiz, Terry, Cahill and Ivan 3-5 each, if Malouda stays hopefully he can get about 5. If they all chip in with something similar to that amount that is 70-95 goals before Torres is even brought into the equation, so making Torres main forward won't be as risky as say if Arsenal or to a lesser extent United done it because the trick at Chelsea is everyone is a striker (so to speak), so if Torres expects special service to be directed straight to him all the time he will be in for a shock.
-
It's is 100% the right thing to do on so many levels. Robbie and Eddie can offer us something some random mercenary manager cannot and that cannot be brought.
-
Lets just refer these idiots to what Jose Mourinho said.
-
He gets 90% of fans making up excuses for him. He gets undying support due to crap performances. Kalou, Malouda and Bosingwa have got slated for much less. He got a banner at The Bridge before he even kicked a ball, Drogba who has won us numerous trophies single handedly hasn't even got one yet Lampard's goal against Sunderland got groaned at by the MHL people like the goal was disallowed because it looked like from that side Torres scored it off the crossbar. He cost us £100m (contract and transfer), so that is just under £10m a goal, we should be getting better. Torres has suffered from many things at Chelsea but lack of support is not even close to being one of them, OTT support more like.

No it doesn't it isn't always that black and white.

While i dont want Pep here this myth going around that he was an lucky passenger on the Barca steam train does my head in. When he walked in he kicked out Ronaldinho and Deco (a bold move few would have had the balls to do) and it free'd up the rest of the side from the 2 chief troublemakers. Iniesta, Xavi and Messi were obvious talent's but not the world beaters they are today, Pep's (again bold) decision to build his team around those 3 has paid off handsomely. His (again bold) move to let Messi play in the Olympics and miss the CL qualifayers payed off handsomely and instantly won Messi's respect. Also did you see the mess they were in when Pep took over? 3rd in the league with 64 points and TEN points behind Villareal not to mention 20 behind Champions Real. Pep has been more important than anyone to Barca over these last few years, including Messi and Tito is under huge pressure to keep up the same level of success.
