I have said from pretty much day one, Eto'o is my choice from who we have got. When Samuel has the ball im confident we will still have it 5 seconds later, Torres or Ba and im mentally preparing for the opposition getting the ball back. The point is at one time in football history the game evolved and the fullbacks had to start offering more going forward and now the game demands players to be good off the ball aswell as on it. Look at Barca under Pep, the pressing and harrasing they did when they didn't have the ball was a key reason as to why they are called by some the best team off all time, most times they lost the ball they had it back within seconds. Robben and Ribery's defensive work helped Bayern conquer all before them last season. In this day in age balance is important, players must be good at both aspects off the game. The free role is slowly dying out just like the sweeper did, if you want to be top dog in football your players have to do their bit at both ends off the pitch.

I remember April last year when Bertrand got his run off games in Cole's absence and that's when people started to say he won't be Cole's long term successor. Ferreira hardly ever had a terrible game for us yet that didn't stop people pining for a new RB for pretty much his whole time here. I don't agree with the loan because he is a very good squad player but this is yet another case off a players reputation being enchanced by not playing.

I have family in Reading and i was up there a lot when Ryan was at the club on loan and from that time i said what im saying now, he's decent at everything but isnt outstanding at anything, that formula makes for a good squad player.

You have taken this way way out off context, do you really think that any one is discriminating against RR because he is Swiss? With any country in the world, a home grown core is important at a football club or in any walk off live for that matter, whether in England, Spain or Bulgaria, all have a home grown core which is key to success. Also with the homegrown rules in place if 2 players (like Shaw and RR) are on similar standing it's best to go for the homegrown player because that will free up a future non homegrown spot, and im mean that for any country.
