The awkward moment when Moyes shows Mata videos of Fellaini at Everton and telling the Spaniard that's his role for United.
-
So United wouldn't have been prepared to pay 110k for him a week? Is this the part were you tell me 250k pw Rooney loves United? he is having a further payrise to confirm his love isn't he?
-
Not really Mata can play great while United as a team play shit, just like with us in 11 12 in the league. That would be perfect from our point off view.
-
If united play with 2 forwards along with Mata and Januzaj they would be vaunrable every single time their not on the ball. Moyes has a task on his hands finding the right formation to accomodate Mata and get the best out off him.
-
Some one posted in the Jose thread there will be the 10th minute applause for Mata and a pre match protest. Im going to this and the former im happy to do to thank him for his services but if the latter happens i will postively cringe.
-
His contributions will never be forgotten, he came into a stagnant past it squad, stood out like a star and at one point was the only aspect off our club we could feel good about in a dark period. There is nothing i would have loved more than Mata to have fitted this system but sadly it won't happen, sad he is leaving but that sadness is overpowered by my exictement on the direction this club is going. Players come and go, CFChowever is eternal, onwards and upwards.

Football talk doesn't end on here

He won't flop, hes to good for that. But he won't make Fellani and Cleverly a good pivot, he won't make Ferdinand, Vidic and Evra 26 again, he wont stop Giggs being a 40 year old who offers next to nothing these days and most crucially he won't turn Moyes from a plucky underdog to a serial winner. Matas a top player but he can only do so much in an average side, he played like a man possessed in his 1st season and we finished 6th.
-
If they play that against teams like say Everton who get their fullbacks forward they would get tonked off the ball. Rafeal and a past its prime Evra isolated vs Piennar/Baines or Oviedo and Mirralas/ Coleman would be comedy gold. Theres a reason Valencia plays a lot, especially in big games.
-
It wasn't really that aspect i meant when the news initially broke about Willian i was questioning whether we needed him to. The bit that baffles me is some are declaring him a flop before he even gets here.
-
After Willian and to an extent Schurrle you would think the penny would have dropped by now. Dont pre judge players before they even fucking got here.
-
Its rather ironic your first line considering you then go on and slag off the only manager to win us back to back titles.
-
I bet you were one off the group accusing Mou for showing a lack off respect to the club when he dropped Cudicini for Cech. Did you criticise him for dropping Cassilas? shame for you guys Ancelotti took a piss on that material by doing exactly the same thing.
-
What about Huth despite us having the league best three CBs at the time? or giving Scott Sinclair his debut in a title decider? or playing teenage Mikel in the FA Cup final vs United? or even bringing on Ben fucking Sahar on against them a matter off weeks earlier. He is no worse than most managers in this day off age.
-
Imagine if Jose left and the next manager still choose Hazard-Oscar-Willian? It would be exactly like when half the planet constantly slated Mou for dropping Cassilas then in came Ancelotti who kept him on the bench, awkward.
-
I don't mean Mata per se, in previous years the one thing most off us has wanted is the manager having the main say and building his squad. Now that's happening and some now don't want that after all.
-
I wonder if many off the people who were whining about player power for years are also moaning about the Mata situation. The irony is hilarious, they finally get their wish player power is gone now they are moaning about that
-
That team would have the same problems we did last season, just is not good enough off the ball. Put it this way, there's a reason Fergie trusted Valencia so much, the balance and protection he gave Rafeal was incredible, the "we will score 4 if you get 3" approach will get a couple off fancy scorelines, balance on and off the ball is what wins titles.
-
I have not once seen Mata get ridiculed, the only time its even suggested is when the hardcore "Mata is bigger than the club " fanbase show up and twist people's words. I once said that we can't base him being the best player in 11 12 as a reason to build the team around him because as a TEAM UNIT we were crap for 80 percent off the season, which someone translated as me blaming Mata for us struggling that season, and that's not the only time it has happened. It's hard to take the hardcore JM fanbase seriously when they keep inaccuratly quoting you and twisting everything to make it look like you hate Mata.
-
What you mean the Casillas that Ancelotti also has dropped? didn't think that one through did you?
-
Ibet you would be slating him for dropping Casillas, if Ancelotti didn't put a spanner in the works and do exactly the same thing.

Cast your minds back to Naples after that night and ask yourself this, which emotion was more powerful ? the happiness we had a top player in Mata or the sadness that our club was in a crisis out off the, top four, battered in Italy and AVB losing the dressing room. Compared to now, am i sad for Mata in his current situation? ofcourse hes a top guy and player who has served us well but in recent weeks we have played our best performances since 2010, and im really happy about that. Call me old school but club > ANY ONE PLAYER
-
I have said from pretty much day one, Eto'o is my choice from who we have got. When Samuel has the ball im confident we will still have it 5 seconds later, Torres or Ba and im mentally preparing for the opposition getting the ball back. There may have been a slice off luck in the first goal but if that was Torres or Ba then there is every chance the ball would have been turned over. When i ask myself which out off the 3 are less likely to disappear mentally and technically as it comes to crunch time there is only 1 answer for me and that's this guy.

He would be the wrong signing for United, there traditionally built on wing play and stretching teams out wide and crossing it in for the 2 strikers, this would be Moyes trying to make a big statement, don't get me wrong Mata would do ok there in in himself but he will be competing with Januzaj and Kagawa for one place. Kuba would be the perfect signing for United. So let me guess because i haven't said he is the best player ever someone will twist everything i have just said to make it look like i don't like Mata

The point is at one time in football history the game evolved and the fullbacks had to start offering more going forward and now the game demands players to be good off the ball aswell as on it. Look at Barca under Pep, the pressing and harrasing they did when they didn't have the ball was a key reason as to why they are called by some the best team off all time, most times they lost the ball they had it back within seconds. Robben and Ribery's defensive work helped Bayern conquer all before them last season. In this day in age balance is important, players must be good at both aspects off the game. The free role is slowly dying out just like the sweeper did, if you want to be top dog in football your players have to do their bit at both ends off the pitch.
