  1. Not really sure, Emery will freshen things up a bit but his league record is average and the signings scream similar to Spurs 2013. That said i wish weren't facing them at The Bridge this early in the season, Auba and Laccazette vs the early stages of our highline is a rather concerning prospect.
  2. Schurrle cut short his holiday in 2014 and was wiped out by October. You need a minimum three week break every year to keep physically and especially mentally fresh.
  3. Problem was, as poor as Ivan got, he was still a better option than Baba Rahman.
  4. So that's Mata, Jose, Matic and now Willian who go to United when they are shadows of the best selves that they gave us. How the mighty have fallen
  5. The point is loyalties work both ways. We are the best Cahill's ever going to get and it's likely Hazard is the best (in his position) we are going to get for the foreseeable future at least.
  6. Because most people would rather be single than with someone they don't love. If Hazard staying doesn't feel right for us, would Cahill feel the same about being here? knowing fans would happily upgrade on him. If Hazard does the business on the pitch he could be a secret Spurs fan for all i care, players being "one of our own" is nothing more than a nice bonus, especially in the modern day.
  7. Hardly the same thing, said girlfriend/boyfriend could decide to be single, it makes no financial sense for footballers to pull a move like that. There's been many players in the past that would have died for the shirt but we would have happily thrown under a bus for an upgrade (Cahill), we can't moan when it happens in reverse!!! Also Hazard played for months with a hip injury, i doubt his commitment would wane even if we are his second best.
  8. So one game is defining his career now?
  9. Thought we were talking about the team Conte started the season with/inherited (if we go down the route of the latter he didn't even have Kante)? He had a back four of long past it Ivan, Cahill, long past it JT and Azpi with Aina as the back up (no amount of reviolutism can make that defense very good circa 2016), currently there's many back four combinations we can roll out that are a lot better than that. Compared to the squad Conte inherited that got us to 10th? yes.
  10. We also had no defense bar Azpi or midfield bar Kante. It's easy to pretend now everyone fancied our chances in 2016 and were talking up the squad but more people were predicting a re run of 15/16 over top 4 let alone the title. The only position the side Conte inherited has over this current side is CF. Sarri's Napoli coneded 100 goals in 114 games under his leadership, he may have an attacking philosophy but he certainly knows how to set up defensively. Im not saying there's issues that don't need sorting, it's this notion that were a total mess and our rivals walk on water i can't abide.
  11. Apparently Lamps is playing an attacking possession based philosophy at Derby, which is rather ironic considering how much he resisted when AVB came in trying similar
  12. That was literally said in 2016. Ofcourse things are not all the same but we have a much better team than people keep making out.
  13. They probably tell a few to find new clubs as they won't be registered if they stay, 99% of players leave under those circumstances, Malouda cases are extremely rare.
  14. I doubt any RB (assuming thats were Azpi's going) will want to join to play his backup. Azpi has a Lamps esque drive to keep playing matches and will likely be captain, the only player that will get less minutes than the reserve RB is Rob Green.
  15. Quite ironic given his hatrick at The Cottage went a long way to sealing Fulham's fate last time they were in the PL.
  16. I think AVB switched them back around and then after Hilario's disasters vs WBA and Norwich switched them back again, so being all technical about it the Inter game or one around that time was the last time we were without both our first 2 keepers
  17. Ah the old "im more angry and hate the club more so im the better fan"
  18. The same amazing Spurs who's star signing will be Jack Grealish?
  19. Weve sold Jorginho and Kante already?
  20. Wasn't Hilario 2nd choice at the time? I think Turnbull vs Inter was the last time we got reduced to numero tres between the sticks.
  21. Kante made Leicester's midfield work with Drinkwater as his partner. With Sarri's reputation for coaching, Barkley was earmarked early among some supporters as a player who could really benefit.
  22. In an ideal world we find a suitable long term replacement now or Courtois happily see's out his final year, but failing that a stop gap like Reina is the next best thing and certainly preferable to commiting to an unsuitable long term buy like Butland or Donnaruma. Ederson and Allison emerged respectively in the last two season's has to be noted.
  23. The signing of Green is going to have about as much bearing on whether we sign a striker as what my decision on what to eat tonight will.
  24. If we were buying Green as number 1 or 2 i'd agree, but the reality is while im don't rate him atall he's unlikely to play a single minute. Look at all the other top clubs 3rd choice keepers. Liverpool have/had Alex Manniger (a Gooner reject from the 90's), United have Lee Grant, City have Richard Wright i think, Spurs have Gazzaniga, not really the world of difference between any of them really, only Grant you could argue is close to PL quality.
