  1. Supposing that your theory that the black woman was part of the Caribbean migration to the UK in the 1950's is true, which would make her around 60, I think it's rather specious to say that the waves immigrants were welcomed in to do the "jobs the locals just did not fancy." The fact is that the UK economy was experiencing a postwar boom during this period that saw unemployment drop to 3% on average. More workers were needed to fuel the economy and remedy the shortage of manpower.
  2. I didn't know if this was real footage or an outtake from This Is England. Treat the white chick like a barking dog. Best to ignore the broad and report her to the proper authorities to get her removed from the tram. Engaging someone of that level of anger and indecency wouldn't, and didn't, shut her up. It only served/serves to further wind up the person responding. Also, the black woman on the tram didn't exactly maintain the moral high ground by stating that the English people don't want to work. Indicting a whole nation as indolent ain't exactly cricket. My final comment is that I feel sorry for the wee 'un. His mother's bile and other issues are probably not limited to this incident on the tram.
  3. Drogs' performance was akin to a car engine that turns over, but doesn't spark.
  4. I don't love or hate him. I do desperately want him to regain some semblance of his former glory and be a reliable finisher/goal scorer. Unfortunately, I believe that his price tag has put him under the microscope. There really wasn't anyway we could truly win after paying that much for him. If he performed/performs like his vintage self, then he might justify his the king's ransom we paid and thus alleviate some of the pressure. Anything less, and he'll be an albatross hanging round the neck of our club.
  5. After spending far too long on the Beeb's 606 forum, I decided to seek out a Chelsea-centric forum. I checked out a few, and thought this was the best.
  6. I am generally of the opinion that the word "unlucky" is overused in football, especially by commentators. However, I would say that we have been quite unlucky for the better part of this season. Not really going to dissect this one too much. We missed our chances, end of. Was I extremely pissed about this game? Sure. Did I loudly exclaim a bunch of obscenities that probably caused my neighbors to question my mental stability? Of course. But there's still a Chelsea, and there's still a match to be played on Saturday. I've never been prone to bouts of blind optimism, but this team will play appreciably better and the ball will start to bounce our way. KTBFFH.
  7. As much as I would like to see Higuain in Chelsea blue, I don't think it is very likely. Real Madrid isn't generally in the business of selling off their best players, especially when the best is yet to come. Higuain's departure would mean that they would be left with only Benzema and Ronaldo to fill the role of striker, and Jose seems to fancy playing Ronaldo on the wing.
  8. Don't know why AVB is so upset with Rogers. Brendan maybe should have kept his desires between himself and the club, but I didn't find his comments terribly untoward. Josh needs a loan. For us and for him. More reserve football is not what is needed. Swansea seem a good fit. My inner football fan just wants to see the lad play in the PL. I'm sure I am just preaching to the choir here.
  9. I started really noticing JT lost several steps last season after he returned from dealing with his back issues. Ever since, he's looked extremely rigid when he's moving. He's never been the swiftest or most fluid player, but his physical decline is showing.
  10. In the not so distant past our strategy has been geared to the strengths of our personnel, i.e. power and pace. Now we have the virtually the same nucleus of players, but we are trying to utilize them in a system where technical ability is essential. A lot of square pegs and round holes on the pitch.
  11. Name: Colin Age: 31 years Nationality: American Height: 183 cm Weight: 12 stone Position(s): Center half, DM Favorite number(s): 7, 21 Two special abilities: Master of the Dark Arts of Defense, Marking Mine two bad sides: Dribbling, Crossing Player(s) that played similar to me: Ron Harris and Terry Butcher. As for present day players, I'm more of a Walter Samuel type.
  12. Good on you. Way to look at the bright side of things.
  13. You are one sad little ewok. Shouldn't you be on a Star Wars fan forum or something? Additionally, I would heavily suggest that your mum suspend your internet privileges indefinitely so that you can find something better to do with your time than make pathetic attempts at wum-ery. Oh, and yes, there is only one England captain: Mr. John Terry!
  14. Welcome aboard. Good to see another fellow Gers supporter!
  15. Malwarebytes is good, but it doesn't get everything. I've been using Norton in conjunction with it and my computer hasn't gotten the pox since (knock on wood).
  16. This "investigation" is a farce. The whole thing boils down to the word of the players on the respective teams (it was hard for me to use a derivative of the word respect whence referring to QPR). There is no hard evidence from either side to prove guilt or innocence. The FA will make an arbitrary decision on the matter, and I have a feeling that decision will be a perversion of justice. The metro police are now involved in a matter that should not be considered criminal. As such, they are engaging in a frivolous expenditure of the British taxpayers' money and the policing resources of the city of London.
  17. A very weak performance against a side that is currently 6th in the Belgian top flight. Errant passes galore. The players didn't look like they were on the same page for most of the match. I will say that I think that Genk played well, but c'mon you have to beat the minnows in this competition. Sorry, but with this game and what happened last Saturday, I'm starting to have awful flashbacks of our bad "moment" last season that started roughly around this time of year.
  18. This was a problem for most of the game. If you want to play a high line, you have to press all the time. Not just some of the time. The defensive shape, or lack thereof, was appalling yesterday. At times, it looked like a bunch of school kids just chasing the ball. Well we all have our shit days in life, in football, etc. and I'm sure the lads and AVB are going to be hard at work to remedy our situation.
  19. A bit angry about this result, but more saddened than anything. I guess I am not surprised. Our defensive frailties were exposed. I hope this means the end of the high line. I've never fancied this tactic and generally have thought it is something that lower sides employ against better ones in a desperate attempt to get something from a game where they are over-matched. Thank goodness we have at least 1 match before the international break because I wouldn't want this to be the last Chelsea match I watch for 2 weeks.
  20. I find it extremely suspicious that QPR brought the charges instead of Ferdinand. Similarly, Ferdinand has only spoken up, albeit with nothing incriminating, since the media and his club have taken up this cause.
  21. Victory! One hell of a game. The radio definitely added to the suspense. Thanks to whomever posted the BBC radio link
  22. Great down to 10. With a pen to come now.
  23. The only weak spot in Everton's side yields a goal. Fantastic!
