Pretty good article. It's a lot better than most of the media's pronouncements that we have no shot, are far too old, AVB too inexperienced, etc. I appreciate honesty, but I think most of the media are really overstating the case. I've seen a fair amount of questioning of AVB's ability to mesh the egos of the players. Well, they've meshed before and can mesh again. Judging by the attitudes of the players during preseason matches and in the press, I would say that they are a bit embarrassed at how last season turned out. There is renewed fire in the veterans. These dogs can still hunt.

I think you're both right. Silva's played both positions.

Good for Conor. He reminds me of a smaller Super Frank with his style of play.

Sneijder ain't coming here. I have resigned myself to that ever since Manure was linked with him some time ago.

Interesting that you mention the thing about crossing, or lack thereof. The video shows some good passes, but the only cross in a "highlight" video for the player is a rather poor one.

Favorite goal of his was against Barca in the CL. A magical game for the club.

http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/transfer-news/Chelsea-eye-Samuel-Inkoom-Ghana-right-back-technical-director-Michael-Emenalo-to-watch-him-in-friendly-against-Nigeria-article783031.html Searched on the forum and didn't see a thread for this fella. Seems to have all the physical requirements for the PL. Only 22 and a good passer. However, the jump to the PL from the Ukrainian league is a big one. Here's a vid :

Thanks. Oops, didn't read the time and date. My incredulous side was getting the best of me.

What's this shit? Thought the only thing left to seal the deal was a medical and personal terms. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,,11668_7083971,00.html PS Don't shoot the messenger.

It is a rare and wonderful thing this day-in-age to have a player of such great potential sign for the team he loves. Especially when that team is in another country. Wishing all the best for this young man.

I think someone's had too much Bucky. Oh dear, where to start. First, when you say "you's" on a Chelsea forum you should not assume that all the people are England supporters. Even the ones on here have never said a thing about Sterling. And sorry, PL youth setups are better than any SPL youth setup, end of. Even as a devout 'Gers supporter I can say that. Then finally you, the hooped interloper, bring out the classic comfort blanket for all smeltic fans that they resort to when feeling challenged in a fitba argument: "We won Europe in '67." That was a long time ago and has no relevance whatsoever in regard to our current discussion, or anything that's happened in football in the past couple decades. Maybe you should find some other way to forget that you've haven't won the league since '08. In summary, we'll keep the blue flag flying high, W.A.T.P. , Gers 3 I.A.R. This is teignman........out!

I think this signing, while not immediately beneficial, is a good one. I agree that it is best to get him before his price goes through the roof. Romelu does need some polishing in his game though. I also think that he needs to get in the gym, as I've heard that he likes to avoid that aspect of his training and along those lines has said his physique is "a gift from God." Anyway, pleased, but not overjoyed.
-
First, who on here, or what Chelsea fan for that matter, raves about Raheem Sterling? Second, Chelsea is good for him not only monetarily, but for his development. He has a chance to develop at a better academy and play with/against a higher level of players.
-
I agree with the first part of your statement to an extent. We don't need Lukaku at the moment we definitely need a player of De Bruyne's ilk. However, I think it's premature and harsh to start hitting Romelu with a Carlton Cole comparison.
-
A win-win from my standpoint. Takes a promising young player from smeltic and gives us a prospect with pace and ability that can play Striker or AM.
-
Maybe Berlusconi doesn't want him dating his daughter. :eyebrows:

Life by Keith Richards. Love the Stones.

I hear ya CJ. Never quite understood what Citeh is playing at with their hoarding of players, many of them mediocre. I guess they figure if they cast a big and expensive enough net, one of their haul will be the catch of the day.

:lol:Quality mon frere.

That hasn't stopped them before. Mancini says he still wants a winger and a midfielder. As far as your second comment, are they at they're limit for foreign players or something? If you would be so kind as to elaborate.

A quote from today: His agent, Patrick De Koster, told TMW: "The only concrete bids are those from England. "Will there be a transfer from here later this month? You know just as much as I do how the market works, everything is possible, one way or another." I would love it if we got him. However, I have the suspicion that once again Man Shitty is using us for scouting to help them identify targets.
-
I wouldn't be overjoyed with a move for him, but he's decent and can play AM or DM. Seems like he's injured a lot though.

I think it's easy to get caught up the hype of a transfer window. I must admit I am a bit concerned with the squad at present. I'm sure most would agree that we need some new players in several key positions. I do wonder if the phenomenal personal and professional attributes that AVB brings to our club are enough to have us seriously challenge on all fronts with this current group of players. The more I've thought about it, I'm sure AVB notices deficiencies in the squad, but sometimes improvements are not feasible. In any event, I agree that he does not deserve the unduly harsh criticisms has received from some. I'm concerned, excited, hopeful, etc. But that's business as usual this time of year.

When it is all said and done, the price PSG paid for him was ridiculous. We were pipped by a lesser club, but they paid over the odds. However, we need to go into the market because even with our youth (Danny and Josh) possibly contributing, we still are not good enough for the upper echelons of Europe and maybe the PL. I like AVB's confidence in our squad, but I hope that confidence is not masquerading as hubris.
