My wishlist for today's match: 1. Play with passion and vigor. 2. None of this pensive, ponderous bullshit. Quick, incisive passing, and switching play. I understand there are times to slow down the tempo, but don't do it for the vast majority of the game. 3. FFS don't concede any silly goals. Concentration for the full 90. 4. Vocal home support. Create a hostile atmosphere. That Fulham match, and a few others this season, made the Bridge seem like a monastery.

I wouldn't put too much stock in these stories of this massive war chest for the coming month. We are probably going to plug a few holes in this window, and save the major changes for the summer.

Save your tears my friend. AVB has said there is a backup plan to Cahill. I don't think he is bluffing. Additionally, he said is confident that the deal for Cahill will get done. If Liverpool want to pay far over the odds in wages for what would be a squad player for them, they are welcome to it. That being said, I would still be a little ticked if he ended up with the dippers, but only out of pettiness and my visceral distaste for them.

I think we have the right manager, though he still has a bit of learning to do, to lead us into sustained success in the years to come. We all knew, prior to AVB's arrival, that the squad was deteriorating and very little was being done to rejuvenate it. We seem to have started to remedy this situation in the last window. Hopefully, we continue along this path in the market come January. At present, the most important thing to me is finishing 3rd in the PL. I don't think it's realistic to think we will challenge for the league or the CL this season. I'm not happy about it, but I will maintain a positive outlook so long as we continue to get top quality, young, reasonably priced talent into our squad and the era of the vanity transfer (Torres, Sheva) is over.

It wouldn't surprise me that much if Bale played, but everything I've seen today says he won't. 'Arry says he is "very doubtful." I'm not trying to be argumentative, just sharing what news I've seen.

Defoe and Bale are 50/50 for playing in this one and Lennon's out. To state the obvious, it bodes well for us if both their main wingers are out.

I've had this date circled on my calendar since the fixtures for this season was announced. The reason: I absolutely hate Spuds.

Tough result, but not undeserved. As happens so often in sport, a team gets a hard-fought emotional victory only to follow it up with a flat, lackluster performance against lesser opposition. I don't agree with taking Mata off, or Sturridge for that matter. I do see AVB's logic behind the subs. He had to get some stability in the midfield after he took Romeu off, so off came Mata for Mikel. I guess the main sub I had an issue with was taking Danny off. I thought if AVB wanted to go more defensive, he should've taken off Drogs for Malouda. It would've improved our odds to get back in the game if they equalized (which looked entirely possible from the flow of the game and Wigan's attacks). Danny even looked rather surprised that he was being taken off. Yet, the story/stories of the game are the stories of our season. The bad parts at least. We looked lifeless out there and lacked any real intent and decisiveness. I know it's tough to play against a 5 man back, but we were lackadaisical. This ultimately lead to an individual mistake that cost us 2 points. Some may not agree, but I do not want us going into an ultra-defensive strategy nursing a 1 goal lead with more than a quarter of the game left against a lesser side.

I had a strange feeling after AVB's pronouncements vis a vis Romeu that Barca would have a response to the contrary. Mainly because they would look like right fools for letting such a talented young player go for so cheap. Even if Guardiola's most recent statement is correct, we still have some avenues for retaining the services of Oriol.

As much as I hate to say, we should not play Ramires. He is on 4 yellows and I don't want to risk him being suspended for Spuds.

I'm rather torn on this one. I went with Ramires. Great job winning the ball and threatening the Citeh defense with his runs on the counter. Danny would be a close second for me. Overall, I don't think he played even close to his best. However, he was an integral part to both our goals. See what happens when you cut the ball back Danny, instead of shooting straight at the keeper from a horribly acute angle.
