  1. Id go with this as a more evolution than revolution, which seems to be the case Then id bring in someone more competent to replace the deadwood bosingwa/ferreira and then replace and improve upon anelka mikel and malouda to help a new style of play of higher tempo and harder pressing.
  2. Id imagine for clement to be going that AVB is likely to be bringing in more of his own team and needs to make room for them, im glad that a senior head has rolled on our medical department as they have been hopeless for years now and its something ive advocated for at least 2 seasons now.
  3. 70k a week on average for our first team, that probably includes some of our summer sales that were on big pay packets (ballack, joe cole, deco) if they go off the yearly accounts that are released. Also what needs to take into account is that our highest earners (bar torres) are on their last big contract ie: terry, lamps, Drogba, ashley, so our wage bill you would imagine peaked with last years squad and the club cut the wages paid last year with players leaving and will do the same this summer, so the trend is for the wage bill to decrease while we rebuild the squad slowly with younger player on less (luiz and ramires)
  4. Perfectly logical, only thing is would we be the only ones going in for guardiola? what if city hold onto mancini for one more year and go after him as well? make him the highest paid manager in world football with truly unlimited transfer funds? might be hard to turn that down even if we do look the more logical offer for immediate success.
  5. I dont know for sure that carlo is the right man but I know for a fact from whats on offer that he is certainly the best man for now, that might well change in the future, guardiola wont leave for another year even if he accepted a job offer from us, jose will not leave madrid before he has won the league/fired, hiddink will not come back as manager although may come as DoF, villas boas I dont think would come here after first hand seeing how jose was treated, so if the options are van basten, rijkaard, the fat spanish waiter or other managers of that ilk who have been out of work since being fired then I think you would have to be a moron to sack carlo and then bring one of them in. Ancelotti has a year left on his on his contract and if the first/second choice replacement is not available, than why get rid of carlo for getting rid ofs sack? in the grand scheme of things is this season that bad? its not like finishing 14th under ian porterfield is it? we look to be on course to finishing 2nd as arsenal will blow it and maybe even with some luck sneak past man utd in the run in.
  6. Thing is with villas boas, would he even want to come here? lest we forget he was joses right hand man while the special one was here, so he knows how the club works and what influence the manager holds over the team what if he wants more control than what is afforded to the manager? what if he is like jose and wants full control? Speculative I know but I wouldnt bank on him coming here just because we want him here, if the fat spanish waiter turned up in our hot seat id be on the verge of boycotting till roman got rid of him, cannot stand that weasel of a man, deschamps is a name that should be looked at if we do sack carlo, although im with tomo91 give carlo another season he has one year left on his contract so it would better to keep him unless the board have a clear name in mind.
  7. Hayward is a prize pillock, ALL of the stuff he writes is pure garbage, your better off seeing who writes the article and then deciding wether you will read it, could save you from wasting 5 minutes of your life you will never get back.
  8. Bit of both, right back to replace bosingwa, a striker to replace Drogba if the club get rid and imho a couple of wingers one left one right, bring back 442 with wingers either side. Names? well at right back id want lahm if it were possible to get him striker may as well go with neymar as the little ive seen he looks very tidy and would necessitate a different style of play from our midfield, wingers id go for two premiership tested buys, id go for adam johnson at city and chong-yung lee at bolton, good wingers with a end product who could make the step up.
  9. Thats the feeling im getting, id imagine the only time they may get their hands on the trophy is as bit part player like scholes/giggs for utd, as next season the rebuilding work youd expect in the summer to carry on from the last two windows work will hopefully move us away from a depandancy on Drogba and lamps to be firing on all cylinders for us to play well, as when them two dont click (which is becoming more often) then the whole team suffers, we are still apparently after neymar who id say is gonna be drogbas replacement, if he comes im expecting didier to go back to marseille, I also think we will stick with the 442 and sign a left and right winger, buy right and they can provide the pace and flair we lack, then lamps will not be so crucial to our style of play, then mceachren can be continued to be phased in over the remainder of franks contract (two years) and hopefully be able to take over the mantle by the time he is 20/21.
  10. Petr Cech 7 - Good performance from the big guy Jose Bosingwa 4 - Out of position for the goal and whilst good getting forward poor in defence Branislav Ivanovic 6- solid performance John Terry 8 - lead by example unfourtunately though not many followed Ashley Cole 6 - some good defensive work but attacking play was limited Ramires 7 - was a threat when on the ball and unlucky not to get the penalty late on, our best midfielder by a clear distance Micheal Essien 5 - didnt have a good game had little impact and could have been sent off Frank Lampard 5 - like mike didnt have a good game infact had quite a bad game in all honesty, when frank has a bad game the team has a bad game as he is our main creative outlet Yuri Zhirkov 6 - didnt have a good nor poor game was just seemingly there, had a few good runs but besides that a game to forget Fernando Torres 7 - made good runs and was working hard to chase balls down, him and drogs do not work together up top, vastly better partnership when anelka came on Didier Drogba 6 - tale of two halfs, first was good worked hard got stuck in, second the petulance started when decisions started going against us, rightly subbed as in that mood he either raises his game and has a stormer or like last night goes off the boil and stops working for the team unfortunately it was the latter last night SUBS Florent Malouda 6 - provided fresh attacking impetuous Nicolas Anelka 6 - lovely link up play, and id start with him and torres at OT John Obi Mikel 6 - see zhirkov
  11. Wasn't that was mooted when bates was still in charge whilst the bridge was being redeveloped the last time? certainly wouldn't be a bad idea although im not sure how good the playing surface would be at certain points through the season.
  12. Yep it did and it was for 15 years after doing abit of research, their ground will keep the name the emirates till atleast 2021, that deal was done in 2004 though and if you look at the upward trend of football sponsorship (see bayern munich as a great example) since then despite the recession, id say 120m over 10 years would be obtainable on a brand new stadia on one of the most famous clubs in world football, also take into account by the time any new stadium was built/finished (at least 3 years from start to finish) that the economy (globally) may be in better health which would also give the club a better footing in negotiations.
  13. On a new stadium id be wanting north of 100m over 10 years if I were the club, wengers perennial bottlers get 10m a season for having their stadia named after an airline, and that deal is what 4 years old now, id hazard a guess that for naming rights for a new stadia you could get a bidding war going between a few companys, imho opinion that is the reason renaming the bridge has failed to deliver anything yet a company would be willing to shell out that kind of cash but only for something that is new and has no name already attached to it.
  14. Just to add to my previous post, link, £100m Bridge bid bites the dust CHELSEA'S grand plan to sell the naming rights to Stamford Bridge has failed to get a single serious bid. Now the Blues face a financial rethink following the £100million flop. It is 17 months since chief executive Ron Gourlay announced he was ready to open talks on stadium sponsorship. But dozens of blue-chip companies have baulked at Chelsea's price of £100m for a 10-year deal. Gourlay admitted: "The issue is not going to be resolved in the near future and we are still looking for a suitable partner. "If that doesn't happen we will go down a different route." Last line seems significant if an actual quote from gourlay, what I said in my previous post if we cant sell naming rights to the bridge than the club may be forced into serious discussions about a stadia move with naming rights then sold, as a way to make more money from matchday revenues, as its not just the extra 10-15k tickets a new stadia would bring in money wise it is everything else that goes with it, higher corporate prices, more merchandise/ food/drink sold its alot of extra money to make whilst not affecting the financial fair play rules.
  15. Just heard on SSN that the attempt to sell the naming rights to the bridge has failed to attract any serious bids, we are apparently after 100m for it, maybe the moving options have been looked at again because the naming rights dont look like being taken up? as that is one of the areas the club wants to pursue whilst at the bridge and maybe during discussions with potential sponsors they have said that they would only be interested in naming rights to a new stadia, hence making the club look at a move again with more than just a glance.
  16. Great article on the chels here about the latest rumours about a stadium move, usually when they claim to have a source it tends to be fairly reliable as they are fairly in the loop for an independant website. From there choices the bbc white city site would be the more acceptable option still west london (W12) good transport links and no doubt piss qphahaha off no end if we moved there, make no mistake it will happen its when not if.
  17. Id argue that happens to arsenal, man utd and liverpool at home as well, away fans generally are the 'hardcore' support that do nothing but sing shout and make noise all game/long periods of it, whereas at the what is considered the big clubs in the land have a larger pool of fans that are familys/tourists/just non singers who like the view from the east/west upper and the day out, that is fact, the thing that doesnt help the b ridge is the terrible terrible accoustics, from the shed you can barely make out what the MH are singing and so you have the MH doing one man went to mow whilst the shed sing carefree, that in its self makes it very hard to get a resonating sound to happen inside the bridge, something that will hopefully will be looked into when we eventually move to pastures new (its gonna happen eventually).
  18. Dicky knee, said it on another site before madrid signed him, I remember reading that a milan physio/doctor while stopping short at saying he had a chronic knee problem did say that it needed careful monitoring and rehabilitation, sorry to say it but he will never be the same player he once was and we would be fools to spend even 20m on him, this is a lesson I hope we have learned after the shevchenko deal time will tell.
  19. Palermo claim £43m Pastore bid Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini claims he is considering a £43million offer for Argentina starlet Javier Pastore. Barcelona, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City are all said to be keen on the 21-year-old Argentine international. Pastore has already declared he is happy to stay in Sicily, but a summer move is being widely predicted as Palermo are currently floundering in mid-table. Serie A surprise package Napoli had even been linked, but Zamparini quickly dismissed that. "Javier is out of Napoli's reach," Zamparini told Radio Kiss Kiss. "Besides, I have already received a €50m offer for Pastore and still have to give an answer. "If I were Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis, I wouldn't sign him for that price." Could be us, ancelotti is apparently a big admirer of the boy and roman may well be on the verge of bank rolling a few big signings for the summer.
  20. Now that is beautiful, smart sophisticated and traditional, well done that man. I like the first home top, a proper royal blue would be great, and the second away top is very very nice, reminiscent of ze germans famous national shirt. I think what ever adidas do they should leave out any red full stop from any of our new kits and use yellow and white for the away/third kits.
  21. Ive read that it was piet de visser who brought ronaldo to arnesons attention, de visser is also the guy who scouted/recommended alex, cech and robben to chelsea apparantly, he is currently romans personel scout according to reports and one of europes leading scouts from the last two decades, if you want to see the reports type 'de visser' 'ronaldo' 'romario' into google.
  22. Im gonna throw this out there to put the cat amongst the pigeons so to speak, im actually starting to think maybe we need a new goal keeper and not just a backup, for me cech isnt the same player he once was, for me alot of goals he has conceded this season where savable if he made an attempt to get it, to many times ive seen him over the last couple of years look like he is going to attempt the save then seemingly decide he wont get there so doesnt attempt it, he merely watches the ball go past him before tying to gee up the defence, he is still one of the better goalkeepers around but I think if somebody came in with a big bid then id consider selling if we could find a suitable replacement like lloris or somebody like that. Also an attacking midfielder with abit of guile, vision and flair somebody who can play in the hole.
