  1. It doesn't matter when he was signed. Transfer fees can be either accounted in lump sum or amortized over the duration of the contract. Obviously we can't recognize anything in lump sum considering how much we spent on transfers, so we have to amortize everything. Hence we didn't play 50M for Torres, rather 10M each year for the duration of his contract. We've had him for 1.5 years, so we've only paid 15M for him so far. If we sell him now, for let's say 15M it means we have to recognize a loss of 35M-15M = 20M in THIS year. As opposed to a 10M transfer spend per year for the remaining 3.5 years. Sure, the next year we'll be 10M better off, but considering how much we've spent this year I don't think we can take that 20M hit. And of course that will also mean buying more strikers, just not feasible.
  2. lol yeah i was just making a lame jeopardy joke, he wrote a page where he could have just said let's park the bus.
  3. People are saying that he drops deep and drifts out because he's scared? I think that's more to do because he's scared about the media claiming he doesn't do shit so he's changed his play style, that if I'm not getting the service or finishing my chances, I'll have to at least redeem myself in some manner. He never used to do that Liverpool, even during his last season there when he lost form. That's more him trying to get more involved instead of getting scared. Chelsea's slow tempo build-up won't suit any striker who likes to play off the last defender. The Brighton match, he stayed forward for a long time, omg omg his confidence is back because he's in the box now and didn't drift wide. He stayed near the box the whole match, got jack shit and then dropped deep in his last 10-15mins because he was so starved and didn't want to get subbed off after getting like 5 touches. Anyways, I would love it if we can upgrade Torres, but that'll be very hard. I would love Cavani or Falcao but that would be very hard. Considering FFP selling Torres for a loss would surely screw us up, we're actually BETTER off keeping Torres than selling him this year. We can amortize the transfer fee but the loss we have to record in full, not sure we can afford to take that huge of a hit unless we win the PL and CL this year to compensate or somehow manage to sell Malouda and Benayoun for 20M lol. He's a chelsea player, our first choice striker I will support him to the fullest.
  4. We shouldn't play Hazard on the right, rather play Mata there. I know Mata was a left winger for Valencia and for us, but he's also played right wing many times for Spain and done very good, he'll be good in any position. And, no I don't think he's miles better in the hole than on the left wing. The only reason he was less influential on the left wing for us last season was because it's easier to shut someone down on the wing and defenses would man mark him like crazy because they could afford to since we had jack shit in the rest of the attacking line, that won't happen this year, so Mata = BEAST in any 3 positions and same goes for Hazard and Oscar. Hazard prefers the centre or the left, you put him left. Oscar is amazing in the hole and he helps defensively, so he can play in the centre and possibly provide more help to the weak double pivot than any other attacking mids and Mata on the right, cut in or whatever he wants. Oscar has to play in the centre for me because he's very good with both feet and he can be really lethal there. SORTED!
  5. when is that interview? is it already done? if so, anywhere I can download it?
  6. I'm not as big of a fan of Kane as some of you others. He's great when attacking, but I think he's rather weak defensively. But we'll see how he develops, still very young.
  7. Yeah I thought somehow someone cleared it as well, but when I saw the replay I was like wtf haha. Kagawa looked really good. Class player.
  8. lol rooney missed a pen then missed a tap-in off the rebound from 4 yards out hahahaha
  9. Thanks for that. Should be a lot of fun, can't wait.
  10. Should we bench Mata? It's just the community shield, we'd like to win it but he can use the rest too surely. We can sub him in the last 25-30 mins but maybe not start the guy.
  11. I'd love a Pereira if he was right footed, but I think we're sorted on the left side.
  12. It's not cause people think Hazard is better than Mata, it's because people think the loss in Hazard's form by forcing him out wide is much bigger compared to that of Mata if he's played out wide. 50% Hazard on the left + 100% Mata in the middle vs 80% Mata on the left + 100% Hazard in the middle. I'm not saying I want Mata on the left, but just trying to clear it up for you. I don't think anyone ever said that Hazard is better than Mata in the hole, no way. Mata is our best player and it's not even close.
  13. Sorry I've never played before so I have a quick question that some of the veterans might be able to help me with. I'm assuming player prices change throughout the season. Can anyone tell me how often this happens? After every gameweek? And, if I do a transfer of a player I bought for 7M and his price went up to 8M when I sell him do I make a profit or does my balance always stay at 100M? And, does anyone know of any good sites for scouting players from a fantasy perspective? Obviously I can't watch every match and see whose doing good or bad? PM me, thanks!
  14. I posted this a couple weeks ago in the formation and discussion thread but now I'm convinced we have to switch to the 4-3-3. It puts everyone in their best position and we can tweak it to suit Mata too. 4-3-3 Hazard - Torres - Mata Oscar - Mikel - Ramires Cole - Terry - Luiz - Ivan Cech Everyone is in their best position imo, except Mata but we will allow Mata to drift inside and roam as much as he wants since he has Ramires at RCM who will cover everything on the right side. Mata can drift inside and Ramires can make runs down the right overlapping Mata and make runs into space vacated by Mata as he drifts inside. Oscar on the other side can also go forward when play is switched to the left but he'll make runs to the centre ala Lampard. The main help with this compared to the double pivot is that we will always have Mikel + another midfielder in the midfield at all times, so always better cover cause honestly counter attacks will be our main threats in 90% of the matches. When Mata moves center, Ramires moves to the right. Oscar holds with Mikel. If Oscar moves central as a number 10, Mata stays right and Ramires holds back with Mikel.
  15. Club World Cup Super Cup Finish top 4 We're still rebuilding, it'll be a while till we become a powerhouse again. Just don't fall out of top 4 again, that's all.
  16. I have an HTC EVO 4G. Good phone imo.
  17. holy shit that run was amazing, turned one and dribbled through like 3 more
  18. Would love to win some silverware to start off the season but if not, then I'm not bothered. Just want to see an improvement, that's all. We don't have to play attacking, just want to see improvement, that's good enough for me. KTF!! If Clichy is playing let's play Sturridge
  19. Does anyone know where I can download some Wigan games from last season? I want to see some of his games in full.
  20. 80k/week? Wtf? No way that is true, I really hope it isn't.
  21. Yeah I didn't want to push Mata on the wings, but I think we should now. Hazard through the middle, Mata on one of the wings and on the other we have to play Marin really. Shouldn't play 3 attacking mids, you need an out ball and Marin/Moses can be that guy; Just to reset the attack while maintaining possession in the final third. The only problem with Hazard through the middle is that he might be forced to drop deep to collect the ball because our double pivot is really lacking imo, I'm fine with Mata or Oscar doing that because they both have a great passing range plus Hazard's greatest strength, dribbling, won't really be of any use if he drops deep. We'll have a lot of troubles in the first month but our attackers are good enough and intelligent enough to figure it out, but we'll have to be patient.
  22. Mancini is playing a 3-5-2. We need pace and width and we have a chance playing on the counter.
  23. PSG or United, either way I just don't see him being worth that amount. Really shouldn't move yet imo, too young and raw. Should go to a team like Porto once they sell us Hulk
  24. De Bruyne has been very poor so far. Looks very much off the pace of the match, always a step behind. But that's to be expected, completely new team.
