My dad always said to me 'dont spend your money just for the sake of it' and its true, and thats the mentality the club have now, why spend millions upon millions when we already have a championship winning squad.

Yeah people are a little eager to see us use our younsters, which is understandable as we have some with alot of potential. Problem is are they going to be better than our current first team players...? Good enough to use in the league or europe? As said, I'd personally use them in the Carling Cup for the time being, then later on in the season they will be more and capable of filling in when needed due to injuries, suspensions etc.

Their chance will come, personally I'd like to see a more youthful team being used in the Carling Cup, similar to what Arsenal and Man Utd do.

First chance I've had to get on here since the match, I was in the MH lower, overall we played ok, 3 points and that all that matters, nobody played badly, other than Frankie having a quiet game, but his injury explains that. Good to see Ramires get his debut under his belt, did get too many touches of the ball though. Flo was terrific, as was Ash down the left, Stoke didnt have a hope in hells chance of containing them two. A steady game, were NOT going to win 6-0 every week, but we got the 3 points (main thing) kept another clean sheet (by the width of a crossbar lol) and were top of the league. Happy days, bring on Blackpool then Newcastle in the CC.

Everyone is playing well but I've gone for Drogba, a hat trick versus WBA, then his MOTM display vs Wigan, then another goal vs Stoke, he has started the season on fire. Malouda is playing so well also, it was between him and Drogba. Also, Ashley Cole is playing out of his skin, I was in the MH Lower vs Stoke and his runs in the first half were breath taking.

Really looking forward to this game, its my first of the season, Matthew Harding Lower. I wont be at all surprised if we stick with the same starting line up. Is Ramires in the squad? If so, it would be good to see him get 20 mins or so.

Disappointed that he has gone out again but not overly surprised. Sadly I dont think his future will lie with us now... going down the Scott Sinclair route, lots of promise, but not quite enough to get a crack in the first team. Mancienne is a PL player though and will forge a good career at a middle of the table club.

There are plenty of jobs he can undertake at CFC, I hope he stays with us. Well done to the club for looking after him. I can see the boys dedicating our next win to him too.

Yeah after our defeat there last season I'd take a 1-0 win from a Lamps penalty or something. That would be 3 points more than we got there last season and thats all that matters. Lets just get the result.

TBH, its not always about how good Petr is to how long he keeps clean sheets, its about the 11 players on the pitch defending as a team, it would be great to see him get his record back though, and if he does, credit must go to the whole team. Dont get me wrong though, Petr is one of the best goalkeepers in the business, when needed he makes world class saves 9 times out of 10.

Terrible news, really really gutted for him, he seemed like a great lad and one that had the potential to make it at CFC. Really pleased that the club are standing by him, I hope he could possible coach the kids teams etc, would be great to see that happen. Best of luck for the future Sam.

In a perfect world out first XI would have numbers 1-11, but these days players have favourite numbers etc, JT was offered 5 a few years ago but stuck with 26, Zola stuck with 25, Deco liked 20, Ballack liked 13 etc...

Yeah good shout, and our squad is smaller than last year so I dont see many more loan deals being done, but will Matic get games now we have Ramires, and Essien is back, as well as Benayoun (more of an attacking midfielder though). Will keep an eye on this story though.

Would be a good idea, we could loan them a player or two, Matic for example.

I'm glad that our number 7 has now gone to a good player, the last half decent player to have it would probably have been Goldbaek or even John Spencer.
