As for defenders, he really doesn't have a choice. And people shouldn't bring up Aina. His role is perfect as back up RB, who he is back up to is the problem.
About the midfield, who do you suggest we play in the pivot in front of Kante? Oscar/Willian and Fabregas? Please. That midfield would get destroyed defensively against any opposition. Conte has no other choice but to play Matic. We have no other midfielder in our squad who can help out Kante defensively. If we got someone like Nainggolan and played him instead of Matic, there would be no problem since he is astute defensively and offensively. 
I don't think people realize how much Matic's limitations are hurting us at the moment and the worst thing is that we cant replace him with anyone in our squad who's competent defensively as well as offensively. 
That's the problem. Too many players who can do this but not that. Kante is our only mid who can start in every type of game and that's just sad. What's keeping me hopeful is that we're linked with Thiago Maia who is the exact type of player we should be looking at.

Grade B players like Kevin De Bruyne or a certain Lukaku that we've been rumoured to splash out cash on to get back? Courtois? Filipe Luis, who is one of the best in his position but Mourinho didn't fancy him because he wasn't Ivanovic? Now we severely lack a quality left footed fullback.  
No matter what way you put it, going from champions to hovering 1 point above the relegation zone after half a season because we didn't get Pogba and Stones is completely unacceptable.

If we were to go by all the other reports, chelsea bid £45m about 5times over the past week and every time been rejected. 

Tempted to say we should just buy a really good attacking right fullback. Someone like Fabinho from Monaco. Even though that means we don't have a pure left footed fullback but if we must persist with Azpi there for let's say a season it's fine. There aren't many great left backs out there tbh so I wouldn't mind this. 

Oscar did well, always felt he would do better away from a #10 role. He's a jack of all trades and master of none so put him in a position where that works best. Still has a ways to go but its a good start for him.

Going in with JT and Cahill against Watford and Burnley before the end of the transfer window is not a huge deal. But this deal is taking way and way too long.

If we're staying with Costa, Bats and Remy it just means we'll play with 1 up top most times, which is good imo.
